Lilt and Jellytots most excellent adventure...

  • Hey there you :)

I am still in my pyjamas... :o BUT I have vacuumed the life out of everywhere, and used different attachments plus pulled furniture out to get everywhere cleaned properly. I have also... *drumroll* pulled out dozens of old toys, cleaned and disinfected loads, made sure all the pieces are there, photographed them and then text a friend to see if she wants first dibs before I sell them... AND thrown out a load of rubbish!! Resulting in a spare IKEA box for me, and a lot of space in Jellys room!! :D

Thanks for the chips advice. Jamie Oliver I think it was said to par boil them (or roasties?) and then use a colander to 'rough them up' a bit which gets them really crunchy on the outside and fluffy in the middle. I have yet to try these as I still have a bag of Mr A's 'steak cut' in the freezer. The only thing in there I'm not proud of :P

Jelly is currently sat on her potty in front of cbeebies, with 'applebee' (her innotab baby tablet) and my iPhone to keep her amused while she sees if she can produce anything. Normally she sits for 10 minutes, gets up and does a wee on the floor a foot away. I persist. The heating is on to counteract the bare bum bless her <3

P.S I found THIS for you ref the chips. Explains what the frozen foods people add to stop them going brown, and makes me even more mad with myself for those in the freezer!

dh makes a mean hm chip! He parboils them first, then drains, shoves in a gloop of olive oil and a scrunch of salt, gets them all covered and lays them oh-so-neatly on a foiled-lined tray!

We do also use aldee steak cut ones... Only contain potato and oil - or so it says...

Well done you, persisting with the potty!

  • Bah it went down exactly as I said Apple. 10 minutes on, then wee's a foot away. I think she has yet to get used to the feeling of doing it on the potty so I keep on trying. Now she is using the potty as a stool to climb furniture... :rotfl:

And yay another one who parboils! I make awesome roasties but have just never really liked chips so don't bother. I am not a big fan of potatoes to be honest. Never really ate them as a kid, and then as I started to cook I realised I am left-handed and cannot peel to save my life. So jacket spuds it is :rotfl:

There is an Aldi in the local town, but I have Asda, Lidl, Morrisons & 2 Sainsbugs within walking distance of home. I never really see the point in paying the bus fare to go to Aldi :D lol.

Started this post hours ago. Then laptop died and I put it on charge but never got back to it til now. Thought I better use Now TV since I accidentally paid for a month of it. Not that they appear to have taken the money from anywhere... Have watched Die Hard. How have I gone this far in life never watching it? :D

Off to bed soon, staring at the tv so long has given me fuzzy eyes and a headache. Should wear my glasses more! Jellytot has nursery in the morning and I don't feel ready at all. Better shower before I go to bed so I at least only need a quick one in the morning. Wind is howling, rain is pouring. I have for once closed all the curtains in the house to keep it cosy. I'm borderline OCD about the living room curtains hanging just so. So normally when I get them perfect I don't touch them for weeks :o:o:o

    Night guys xx

  • I wish I didn't like chips.

I might be skinny if I didn't like chips!

But then, I also like cake.

    And chocolate.

    And pizza.

    Night night Lilt Xx

  • Haaaaaaaaaaaaa

I like all of those things.... I can eat 200g bars of chocolate to myself. I eat jaffa cakes and fig rolls by the packet. I appear to have gone through a kilo bag of spiced gingerbread by myself in the last couple of weeks.

There is a reason Jelly keeps calling my tummy marshmennow. :rotfl:

I used to be skinny... Sigh

    Night lovely Lucky xx

    Hey Lilt and Friends,
have just picked up a few tips reading all the posts over the weekend - have never tried to freeze bananas! we go through phases...either they get eaten straight away whilst still firm and greenish, or nobody touches them and they go totally over ripe. My teens don't really eat banana cake so I usually try to eat them quickly. Or if I'm feeling really naughty flambe them - its the best dessert ever but don't give any to Jelly (yet) - she might sleep well;)

melt butter, and fry bananas (sliced lengthways and halved), sprinkle liberally with brown sugar, allow to caramelise, heat rum in pan , pour over and light! serve with ice-cream and clotted cream...and prepare to get fat;) --takes a few minutes, and worth hiding your bananas to let them over ripen......
    xx

Jaffa cakes.... fig rolls.... have looked in all my cupboards and none there:(

  • It wasn't me NOA, I promise!! :rotfl: I have actually had to THROW the christmas gingerbread up into a cupboard too high for me to reach. Even when I stand on the washing machine... :o:o

The flambe'd bananas sound lovely! I am a banana milkshake girl. Much as my stomach would have me believe otherwise after drinking it... :rotfl: - tempting to give Jelly the rum on it's own when she refuses to nap and is so tired after nursery... ;)

Have had to spend today on a measly loaf of bread. Curse my lack of brains. Thus, I am buying the last of the Christmas presents.

Nephew 1 - Voucher for clothing brand he likes.
Nephew 2 - Cash moneys inside a Christmas card for his Christmas holiday in Thailand with Sister and BIL.
Niece - Boots voucher maybe? I am trying to figure it out.

Nephew 1, & Niece both have birthdays between now and Christmas. Have to get those pressies too. Niece has got Ted Baker perfume & a mascara, so think I just need to provide an eyeshadow or something and she will be done for Birthday. Does this then render the Boots voucher useless or too same same? Shes just getting to the teens and obsessed with the make up, jewellery etc. Mum is getting her a ring she wants though.

And what for Nephews birthday? It is 2 days before Christmas :( poor kid. I don't want to be the auntie who puts Xmas and birthday together but I have no idea what to get for a gaming mad 15 year old. XBox vouchers? His Xmas present is for Insert Coin Clothing, which does gaming t-shirts etc and he loves. Size Mens Large?!?

Sister birthday is done, toasted glass drinking jar & mascara Total spend £17. Brother birthday done, as don't get him anything, haven't ever as he is a lot older than I am.

Need to update my Xmas spreadsheet :)

Talk later guys, my Jelly free time is disappearing FAST!

  • I am sure I replied Mrs H... Did I do it on your thread??? lol!

So, a quickie as I have taken enough painkillers to knock over a horse tonight. Only an accumulation of back grumbles that have got to me and coincided nicely with bedtime :)

I have completed the Christmas shopping for 'my lot' oop north!! :D PLUS 3 huge birthdays that come before, 4 if you count bro. Best get him something... The totals on presents are in. Just shy of £130 on Xmas, and just under £50 on the 3 birthdays. This is way under what I budgeted for that particular set as I have scrimped, used vouchers and the like! Jellytot has come in at £55 for the year and has two 'biggies' from me and a host of books and things. :) all bought and sorted.

Niece and nephew will be delighted with both their birthday and xmas gifts! :D super happy Lilty today. A fog has lifted. Now I just need to wrap...

Today I had a haircut!!! :j:j:j:j - I have had over 4 inches off my mop! Taking me to a just swishing around the shoulders bob :D feels sooooooooo much better!

Also had the dentist :( 2 fillings. Only minor. And put in my final claim on osteopath so money should be in my account by Friday :)

Feeling happy and suitably tired. Night all xx
