Thank you for the melting moments recipe and advice lilt. My mum used to have the Bero cookbook and we always used to make these. I really want to make a batch now but need to wait until a treat day, after eating too much for the last few weeks.

I would stick to your guns. I don't have unplanned guests for dinner as I always freeze our meat in portions for the pair of us. I would be especially peeved if he doesn't feed your OH when he is over at his!

The phrase coined from many reality tv adverts is "on it like a car bonnet" and currently describes my YNAB overhaul and meal plannering.

I shall get on track! Today I got nursery deposit back. It has been transferred from an off-budget account into my 'Cash' account and £24 allocated to a payment to The Book People tomorrow. (Oops Xmas presents...) Mum paid me £40 IN to my bank account to cover £19 of the £24 spend as part of a gift for Jelly. And the rest for the doll for Christmas from Arg0s I haven't actually bought yet.

So I have been shifting money around like anything trying to make sure I have all I need. I have to confess to being a bit lost with it right now. I used my 'savings' current account for a few random transactions and as yet have not paid it right. So I don't quite know where I am until I pay this 'cash' into the bank! Anyways I have put away £230 for Jellytot this month, £300 to my regular saver, £234 for Xmas and £171.29 to my 'gas/elec' fund after my stupid rebate. Total: £975.29. Still a few adjustments to make and I think I missed something categorising stuff as Septembers Income... but a mean feat all the same, as that is actually only a few £s less than I bring home in a month from work :D

I also had some 'spends' I wasn't planning for THIS month, though they were much cheaper for buying them now. £19 of kids stuff. Shampoo, nappies and baby wipes. Plus side the wipes will last til end of October, as will the shampoo and the nappies... well we shall see. Hopefully the end of Sept minimum. Also bought cake making stuff which amounted to about £6, and a £5 bathmat. Not bad really...

Dinner has just burned. Asked Him to watch it after I gave in and cooked since it was 8:30pm. Went running in after I heard sounds like popcorn. The rice has dried out and is merrily sticking to the bottom of the pan crackling away. The curry too is stuck fast to the bottom of the pan. I stirred hard and shot him a filthy look when he asked 'was the rice ok?' as I walked back through. No, nor was the curry. He just continues to play his game with the mate who was meant to leave between 7-8. I am going to grab myself a plate, walk through, shut my bedroom door and eat in here. Or I will explode. I have a headache most likely from lack of food and sleep.

My phone tells me I have cross posted with Fmess... Another one who knows the glory of a Bero cookbook!! Maybe a Nottingham thing... :rotfl:

I stuck to my guns but am still hesitating to do the walk past him with food at 9pm and not offer him any.. I should be thinking of sleep, not curry!

Oooooh...the little !!!! Lilt. Very peeved on your behalf. Maybe keep something truly shocking in reserve and feed them both that until they go away and stop adding to your stresses.

Hmm...maybe that is a little harsh / uninformed.

I just don't see how they can't see the problem with it (if you get me). Maybe 'self styled godfather' should pull his finger out, give Jelly what he promised rather than it being all words, and maybe bring a pizza or something for you all? That might be nice....

Oh dear.....that was a bit narky. Must try harder. My mothering instincts are coming out I think; hate the thought of you being taken advantage of when you do so much yourself. And breathe.....

Feel free to tell me to stop being a grump and but out.

Sending hugs regardless x

Edit: I cross posted with you and didn't read the above. I take back my hesitancy (although may still be out of line, and if so I apologise). What a tit. A massive, selfish tit. Really sorry that you are feeling tired and hungry...it isn't fair at all.

Great stuff re: budgeting tho...you're doing sooooooo well x

Ahhhhh I love you Gib.

Go nowhere... NOWHERE you hear me?! And thanks for hugs and understanding <3

PS my total changed up there... I forgot £40 mums money to add to savings, so my payments out had actually come off my savings without taking that into account. Whoop!!!

What a total twatbag! Your post about dinner is just so ..:mad: rice just needs to be turned down and stirred. Even I can handle this (but I might have ruined the curry, sorry).

I agree with giblet, if fake god father (fgf from now on) wants to claim things then innocently call him out on it. "Oh im sorry fgf, I thought you were bringing food today"

ETA:wrote good instead of god! eek

Also I'm sorry you have issues with keeping track with spending. It's OK, it's happens to everyone, I have huge difficulties with understanding when and where I need to pay for prescriptions...
• I can help you there Peaty... Not in... Scotland, Wales, or Northern Ireland...

lilt I would be fuming! Hope you served yourself and strutted past them and left them to fend for themselves. Some men are such twerps. My OH included, today he bailed on all the responsibilities and stuff we had to do or go to, as he was tired, and then played golf and visited a mate! I am currently plotting my revenge

I still want melting moments!

• Fmess are you joking?! Wow they should start a club. The ignorant other halves brigade. At least I get rid of mine on a Friday night til Weds!

I would have trotted out what my mum used to say to me. "If you're not well enough to go to school, you're not well enough to go out and play!"

Oh goodness!!! Freddos... Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm *dribbles*

And so to bed. Him being a grumpy !!!! as I am going to bed.. I am not quite sure what he was expecting. Me to stay up til 3am to keep him entertained now his friend has gone? I should have been in bed an hour ago but stayed up watching 4OD 8 out of 10 cats...

Night peeps. See you in t'morning!

• So I have been at work since 8:20. Changed out of my soggy trackies and hoody and into work clothes after being soaked on the way in... Say down to discover no emails, no internet, the software isn't working. The only thing I can do is update my weekly updates sheet since yesterday.

I have been twiddling my thumbs for nearly 2.5 hours now. What a joke... Apparently some giant ISP has gone down, taking lots of smaller ones with it and there is no fix time yet. Joy.

Meanwhile I am surfing on my phone which isn't fun!

Hope everyone else's day has started better than mine. It's a spend day for me. £24 on Christmas presents from the book people who come in to work. Have put the cash in. I am only actually paying £5 of my own money. Will make it worthwhile and order Jellys dolly and pram for Xmas whilst I get a £5 voucher. Can spend the voucher on friends little boy which will reduce my Xmas spending on him.

Did I tell you that when I budgeted necessary Xmas presents this year it was £335?!? Eek! Have started hammering money away for Xmas now. Really want to have it all done by 1st December!

Nephew is easy. £20 in a card as he is going to Thailand for Xmas and New Year with my sis and bro in law. Might do that one this month too. Today maybe as the nursery deposit refund is burning holes in my purse. The rest is going into the savings account though.

I am soooooooo bored :(:(:(:(:(
