  • Hi Lilty, the naughty thing is to do with self esteem and a child not thinking of themselves as naughty, but that it's the behaviour that makes people sad not the child themselves.
Believe me it's a nightmare what you are allowed to say and not say to kids, I work with some real little s**** and I could quite easily strangle some of them, but we have to be all PC and explain to them why we are sad and that its not them we are upset with but the fact they have chosen to do something which wasn't very nice.

Hope the meeting goes ok at nursery.

    Ahh!

Now that I understand PWPS. But I have grown up with a mum who used to say these words. "I love You, but I do not Like the way you are behaving at the moment.' and I've been doing the same with jelly. Positive reinforcement. Its just this out and out 'naughty' is a BAD WORD that drives me mad :D:D

Cross your fingers, Him is here and we are off to get the magic child behaviour changing potion :rotfl: xxx

  • I know what you mean about the 'naughty' word, it's a nightmare what you can and can't say when you work with kids.

    Take care.x.

It's all PC gone mad. I used to work as a nursery teacher and although I don't think we need to be telling children they are bad, there's surely nothing wrong with saying that was a naughty thing to do, and if you do it again there will be consequences. Telling them that it makes us sad, is not going to make one bit of a difference to a toddler, where thinking of what will happen if they do it again, could be the very thing to stop them! I'm afraid I sound like an ogre!

  • I grew up with a mum who used to openly tell us she was drinking wine to save her sanity from having three naughty little girls :rotfl: My sister was a nightmare though, used to live on about 3 hours sleep and was constantly bouncing off walls (she was later diagnosed with "hyperactivity" and mum took every single treat out of the house including ketchup as it had E numbers in :( ) :rotfl: I think my mum did pretty well to survive it at all lol and I haven't grown up scarred because I was called naughty. If I was called naughty, I was usually doing something I shouldn't have been :D!

DS2 would come back from nursery and tell me he'd made the teachers sad today.......it took me a while to twig on that that meant "naughty" :rotfl: Craziness!

I was about to ask if Jelly was double jointed until you explained that "nips" was in fact "lips":rotfl:

Lucky & DFW I am crying laughing at you wondering what nips are. I have to be honest I was outraged when she first said it. Then I asked her to point to her nips and she touched her lips :rotfl: now I find it hilarious. Like we don't have 'shredded pork' in our house. Because she enunciates very clearly the words 'SAY' 'F-U-*-K' no matter how many times I try and teach her.

I am glad I am not the only one who survived being told I was being very naughty. ;) And Moneywhizz I agree entirely. Frankly if Jelly thinks she can get away with something regardless of how it makes others feel. she will do it! Set boundaries are the only thing that curb her rather outlandish behaviour.

Nursery said all positive things. She is a handful, and they will be working next term very hard on the interaction with other children but she isn't the only one who doesn't interact properly with the others and out of the three having trouble, she knows every kids name and has kids fighting over her, holding her hand and asking her to be their friend. She is just happy in her own company... but then so am I, and so is her daddy. And she has no other kids at home to share things with and talk to, so of course she is more self sufficient! As for the behaviour, the behavioural specialist Paul is off work right now, but as soon as he is back they will get him to have a chat with us :)

Him stayed whilst I went to see my Osteopath :D - I feel SO MUCH BETTER. I can move, and things.. actual movement. I feel taller :rotfl: - next week it will cost ME actual money (only £20) but from then on it will be back on works health plan as it rolls over on the 1st May. Am sat here ice packing and will do some pilates later on to loosen me up a bit, and keep with the ice packs and pilates all week.

He said... I can go to the gym!!! However I might not do that. Since he is not my consultant who out and out bans anything bar walking... and I am not convinced I could manage very much at all. But it is nice to think that eventually I might be able to get back to doing some weights and core work at the gym even if I can't maintain much cardio :)

Off for my dinner, then a shower, and then to iron some work shirts. Jelly just went to bed. In her room with no doorhandles. With the top of the sash window gaffer taped to stop the strong breeze coming through and pushing her black out blind around. Then I've taped the blind down too. :rotfl: overkill much.

Levi I have to laugh at the whole 'kids' thing. My mum won't let me refer to people as 'she'. 'She is the cats mother!' :rotfl:

Heh heh heh you had me wondering how she managed to bite her nips

I had to read it twice to twig what you meant too, sounds like its been a productive day in the scheme of things, In relation to the N word, I was always told if I carried on ill be left on the doorstep of my next door neightbour and she was an ogre so that normally worked but on the occasions it didn't I just said "Its okay I'm running away to Granddads" to my surprise my dad used to say "its not running away if you tell us where you are going" then walk away...

I would still run away to my grandad now even though he is 90 he is still my best friend and would do anything for me (special/favourite Grandaughter me thinks)

hope all is well in land of Lily, glad to hear you managed a nanny nap today, well done you :)

Oh that picture is a little bit heartbreaking Westie... I have to so completely disassociate animals from meat or I can't eat it. I got in trouble with my SIL once as I said in earshot of my very fussy niece that meat was made up of all the vegetables no one wants. And she stopped eating meat, because she won't eat veg  :rotfl:

So... I have.. the scores on the doors for March. Please don't break me
