Yeah Ive done that & thats where I......

You put in the number on the back of the PC & it offers you a choice of downloads, one was called audio si I figured that was it, BUT there were three different ones in it. So I picked the latest?
Anyway, I've downloaded it & I've extracted them? What next?

I've gone to the hardware tab again & tried to "update" drivers. I though it might work now as I have got the download in my PC (somewhere?)

    But they still won't download

If you have extracted them after download try double clicking a setup.exe file within the downloaded folder as PCs dont look for .exe files but inf files when using update driver option.

I had to leave it yesterday as I had a dentist appointment.

After I've unzipped/extracted them, none of them say setup.exe

Do you think I sould ring their tech help number on the same website as the download?

Its 60p a minute, how long do they normally keep people hanging on do you think?

I've got to get the sound working as I make audio CDs for my husband.

    Thanks

Well I phoned them at 60p per minute & they couldn't help. He worked it out that the drivers on their website they had for people to download & install had no set-up or install files in them:mad: I reckon it cost about £15 + VAT to be told that.

It took them 25 minutes to work that out.

He's given ,me that name & number of a shop to call on Monday which will sell me a Drivers & Utilities CD for my PC as I wasn't supplied with one when I bought it a year & a half ago from PC world. He couldn't tell me how much it will cost. I just rang PC world to say that my Drivers & utilities disc from Fujitsu wasn't included, they said they olny put in what futitsu supply.

They didn't know there were no set up or install files in those downloads untill he actually searched his end.

   Not mega impressed. Hopefully when I get this CD it will fix it.

Double click on the RtlUpd.exe file.
 Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:

    That file IS there.

But when I double click on it nothing happens, well a grey box comes up with a warning asking if I'm sure & then when I say yes, nothing happens.

I've tried right clicking & clicking on open but still nothing happens.

Restart the PC as that may finish the installation of that particular file.

Got a found new hardwear wizard when I turned it back on:D

But it couldn't install automatically as it couldn't find the softwear:mad:

But I knew from the Fujitsu tech help how to tell it where to find it:D

So I did that, but it still wouldn't work:mad:

Will the CD fix it all OK when I get that?

    Thanks

I didn't have sound on my PC for about 2 years after I heard a pop, just like yourself and had yellow exclamation marks. Every time I d/l a driver, it froze my whole PC and had to do a restore.

I didn't know how to install a new soundcard, so left it.

When I upgraded Windows, my sound returned, so mine was a Windows fault.

Try the drivers as suggested first and hopefully it will solve your issue.

    UPDATE.
Called the shop (who are the spares for Fujitsu) & they don't have these CDs any more as Fujitsu have stopped making/supplying them. Before she found out they are no longer in stock she asked me if I had been advised on how much they cost? (always a bad sign) & I can't remember exactly it was a funny figure with odd pence, but it was about £45.00:eek:

So I can't download them off the Fujitsu site, as the ones on the web don't have install files in them.
Fujits spares department can't sell them to me, as they are discontined (PC is 18 months old!!!).

WHAT DO I DO? I need the audio working to make hubbys learning CD's.

My daughter keeps asking if I want to upgrade to Windows Vista as she uses it at work & loves it.
Till now I have said no.
But IF I were to do this, would that solve my problem?

PLEASE PLEASE CAN SOMEONE ADVISE ME:(
