You do not want the case to time out against you as that puts a strike on your seller dashboard. Ideally you need to refund before it closes in the buyers favour.

I assume this was below the RM compensation threshold of £20, in which case you will be able to reclaim your item cost from RM after 3 weeks assuming item was eligible.

I have until the 28th Jan, although I will resolve long before this.

A bit puzzled as to why a case has been opened by a completely different name to the one the account holder has which is the same name I posted to, not the name that opened the case !?!

Do they have to confirm the name and address I should have posted the item to?
Looking forward to the day I have nothing left to list on eBay

They don't have to confirm anything .

As for the name, there is nothing unduly worrying there, I've been buying some items for my mother this past month and she has a different name and address to me so 'Soolin' buys them and they go to a Mrs R Blake in a different part of the country.

Can you prove delivery? If not, then you need to refund before day 8.

If you can prove delivery just upload it.

? Soolin buys them and they are sent to Soolin.

Mrs R Blake opens a case -- not received item. ?

No soolin buys the item and enters Mrs R Blakes address when checking out through paypal and the seller sends the item to Mrs R Blake - the seller wouldn't know that Soolin had chosen a different address at checkout and would be covered by seller protection. If the item didn't arrive at Mrs R Blakes Soolin would have to open a case.

Point is; I sent to "Soolin" not "Mrs R Blake", "Mrs R Smith" or "a n other"

Mrs R Blake using Soolins account opened a case and sent a message stating "i have not received my item yet" and signed off message "Mrs R Blake"

Well I didn't post to "Mrs R Blake", I posted to "Soolin"

Even if buying on behalf of someone else in a different part of the country surely the person that bought and paid would open a case not someone in another part of the country whose account it didn't belong to them. If you catch my drift.

Seeing how this thread started and my first comment, where did you get the address you sent the item to from? Was it the "you've sold your item" email or the paypal payment received email or from logging into paypal and viewing the address that way?

If you used the "you've sold your item" email and sent to that address it could be that you've sent it to the worng address. Check if the addresses are different in the two emails.

No, you wouldn't be sending to Soolin, you would be sending to Mrs R Blake although your eBay email would say you sold to Soolin.

So if for instance the item I bought on Saturday was apparently dispatched yesterday. My mother will text me when it arrives but if it doesn't arrive then after a decent amount of time and having spoken to the seller I (soolin) will open the case.

My eBay registered address is London but all your seller protection would apply to the address that I used when I checked out, which is NOT London.

So you would be dealing with soolin about a lost item sent to Mrs R Blake.

The name and address are both the same on "you've sold your item" email, "paypal payment" and "print your postage label now" All the same name and address.

and buyer has just confirmed the Name and address the item was to be posted to. So I sent to correct Name and Address.
