Perhaps they had just opened it to have a look at it?
Consumers in the country won't be happy until we're paying double for everything to sponsor the screamers....
When you buy something from a retailer, especially a personal hygene item IMO you are entitled to be confident that the item is new and unopened, unless you are told otherwise.
It seems from the OPs post that she was not confident and had good reason not to be.
The experiences here of people finding stock put back etc sound shocking but are by no means new.
My avice to you all is to check that when you buy something the box is sealed, or that the item is satisfctory at the point of purchase. Yes, the store will usually swap the item for you if there are problems but you still have to make the journey back to do it.
I have an issue with some floor tiles that I bought in a sale a while ago from a local store. At least one box was comletely broken when I got it back. The store I bought them from at my request forklifted the whole pallet into my van to save my back. When I got them home I noticed the damage. Because I contacted them straight away they have agreed to swap them on a tile by tile basis when I come to do the job. I'm not complaining because these things break easily even if people are careful 80% of the time, and the store are standing by me on this.Behind every great man is a good womanBeside this ordinary man is a great woman£2 savings jar - now at £3.42:rotfl:0 -
Very true Hugosp , would any of the managers like to use the returned goods, and pay the full price for them I think not.
It makes me wonder if they don't do this to save the wasteage costs.
Anyway who is to say the original person who bought the hairdryer and returned it hadn't got nits!!! TAKE IT BACK, and demand a full refund or a new hairdryer.0 -

So if a customer asks to open a packet and examine a piece of stock, the people in the shop should jump up and down on it and throw it away afterwards? The money, Dave...0 -

What?????????????????
Rubbish
We are talking of buying new products and getting seconds and used items.
So what you are saying is, everything we buy direct off a production line has been owned and used. :rotfl:
OK for health and safety reasons they may have been checked.0 -

Mummysdragon, don't fall for the troll's baiting. Unfortunately there are few about who seem to delight in winding up other MSErs.
From wikipedia,
In Internet terminology, a troll is someone who intentionally posts derogatory or otherwise inflammatory messages about sensitive topics in an established online community such as an online discussion forum to bait users into responding. From MSE Martin - Some General Tips On Holiday Home Organisations and Sales Meetings

Thank you for warning me.0
