Happened to me at 8.30pm at a petrol station. Embarrassing, and lucky someone was with me who could lend some cash.

FWIW, online banking is now back up, no idea whether card payments are working though.

Their systems are rickety pieces of ex-RBS sh*t held together with sticky tape. They have older and more outdated systems than virtually every other UK bank bar the Co-op, who at least have the excuse of being tiddly.

I can now log in, and I hope I have made a faster payment. It has left my Natwest account but has not arrived the other end. Might just be because they have until the end of the next working day to get it there.
