..... hope that you get some druggie squatters moving into the house next to you, and see if you're jumping for joy then.

    now you're being silly

I'm assuming the home owners can legally cut off water/gas/elec to the properties?

    no

and no this isn't because I'm a LL (if you don't know i'm a 1 property TEMP LL), why should the wealthy people who have earned their money be treated like this just because they want a nice place to stay in the country for a few weeks of the year? they've earned it, not acted illegally by buying the property

And who is going to "service" them during their two weeks if the workers can't afford to live there?

the council's if they want to do something should stop people from being able to buy if from outside the area, not advocating trespassing, and i'm sure they would be well pleased if the area got all the local druggies squatting in this area, or is that what they're hoping for to lower the prices? lol

Where do you draw the line if you go down that road?

This is the social cost of HPI.

And it needs sorting out or this country is fuc*ed

    personally thinks it's disgusting.

double-edged sword and all that, but I hope that you get some druggie squatters moving into the house next to you, and see if you're jumping for joy then.

ermm being a little prejudice there mate. I can see a new breed of squatters being honest hard working people...why should they be druggies? Squatting isn't illegal you know.

Because the only way this property investment thing is going to be stopped is for people to take action. Goverments don't seem to care, in fact they encourage it.

Hard working honest people have had enough and are absolutely sick to the stomach of rampant house price inflation. Its sickening that in a country such as ours people are being driven to squat in empty homes. The government has no interest in solving the problem because they have a vested interest and are the problem.

How many MP's are second, third, fourth homes owners. I've read a list of MP property interests and its an utter discrace. Its an endless list of self interest. Our politicians have no interest in a solution to this mess.

nah i was just saying that saying "right on, whoop" to the locals, well what if these locals were more undesirable, would everyone be saying well done then?

i totally see WHY they want to do it, but just don't agree with how they're going about it.

and i totally agree that the the govt NEED to do something, at least to resolve issues such as pricing locals out.

end of the day though, I'm assuming the outsiders didn't just pick up a house and plonk it in Cornwall, so the locals must have sold to them anyway to cash in.

i think i saw in the local paper/heard on TV about a new development that first dibs were for locals only and any left after initial 3 week marketing was a free for all, this is the way to go in these sought after areas, but then it doesn't negate the high prices though!

No, this is a story of hardworking people being displaced from the areas they grew up in.

The local people in this story have been displaced and left with no other option its a disgrace that they have been forced to take such action.

The lure of money is a very powerful lure and although unfortunately true the repercussions are now there for all to see.

New developements which advertise such promises to locals only promise false hopes and broken dreams.

Britain should cry tears of shame for displacing a generation. What a travesty.

Great :T :T :T About time this country had another Peasants Revolt.
And if that doesn't catch Lord Protector Brown's attention, I hope the locals in Cumbria and the Yorkshire Dales follow suit.
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

I have said it before. In the future i can see riots happening and big landlords having their portfolio burnt down if nothing is done to correct the housing market.
