A Singularly Lonely Christmas

Yes, my mum has a shopping trolley and she loves it, but Im 3 up in a block of flats so thats why Ive held off getting one.
I do walk a lot, not a driver, just that the gym in the next town thats part of the chain I go to has better equipment than my local one and my brother works there, so I go there to lift weights as hes helpful to me and use my local gym mainly just to do classes, otherwise I wouldnt bother with a bus ticket at all. Plus when I go out shopping I usually go to the gym and a trolley wouldnt fit, but maybe a lightweight haversack is the way to go
My brother has a rucksack or two, but I had too much stuff today to use one of them, my mum is a teacher and gets so many presents that she appreciates but she cant get through them all so she gives some to me.
Even when I have a bus ticket I often walk to my nearest gym just for the walk, in my local area the bus fares are ridiculous and the best savings are made if you get a 4 weekly ticket
Ive been teaching for about 4 years in the community but my hall I have now is very cheap, Ive just finished a kettlebells course and passed my nutrition and weight management level 3 course, so looking forward to swinging a few kettlebells in the new year.0 -
Well, I'm here nursing a cup of tea, because I didn not sleep at all last night. Well, maybe short bursts of minutes, whereupon (is that a word), I woke up suddenly with a startled rabbit look. Come 7 ish, I decided I maybe could sleep, and have done intemittently until now.
Weird dreams about a baby I was feeding salmon and some other gloop...saying, "she is weaned".
So, all my plans have gone awry. I start tomorrow! Honest.
Oh I did get up to feed Polo-cat who is very demanding, and leaps on my head or stands on my pillow with his bum in my face, until I move...he also uses me as a racing strip, leaping onto me from his cat tree (only place to put it in the bedroom) and the shelf behind my bed...

Is it the weekend yet?
There, There, LB, only two more sleeps.
Well done Calicocat, great start, I think I will wait and see how my grocery budget pans out over the course of the month before I go spending on compost and seeds. I still have some sprouting seeds in the cupboard – haven’t done them for ages so may get a jar of them on the go.
I did manage to get out for a walk and start breaking in my walking boots, but OMG my shins and calves are aching now, will try again in a day or two.
My no food waste/get out of a rut cooking challenge gets going today – got a very sad looking courgette in the fridge – so browsed the what are you making for dinner thread and someone mentioned a courgette and brie gratin one of a girl called jack recipes, just happen to have some soft cheese mellowing in the fridge too so will give that a go.Jan - June Grocery spends = £531.61
July - Grocery spends = £119.54
Aug - Grocery spends = £42.190 -
Productive hour there.
Dishes washed
Parents phoned
A wash out, next load in.
Fabric found and will be washed next
Doesn't sound a big achievement but given that I am currently in middle of doing house renovations everything is crammed into one room. So quite pleased found fabric so quickly :j
I'd purposefully left sewing machine in bedroom but it needs proper cleaned before I do anything with it, but at least I won't need to try n find it!
Manfriends still hogging tv playing his silly computer game . Going to mump n moan a wee bit and tell him if he does put Sherlock on this instance I'll watch it on kindle and then tell him spoilers....:rotfl:

I'm back at work on Monday. Took some leave to stretch the break, I needed it.
Anyhow, I have just made my packed lunches for ALL of next week, and they are now in the freezer. Happy Days. It's my NY resolution to bring lunch to work as often as possible.
So I just go to the freezer on the morn, and pull out my sandwich of choice, by lunchtime it's fully defrosted and ready to scoff!
It's a faff getting five days lunches ready, but I did it today and it took twenty minutes. Will do it on Saturdays from now on.

God my cat does the same....along with gently pulling a claw down my face until I get up...at the same time as purring. I have set up a cat-gym area half way upstairs on the landing bit, this is where she goes mental and trashes carpet, so maybe this will encourage scratch pole use instead.
Stair landing is a bit like an assault course now...but hey ho, you gotta do what you gotta do.
Byatt...the only reason I have been off the belt today is i'm back at work tomorrow which will scupper any pottering around plans as when i'm on my shifts I do bot all due to terrible sleep and zero motivation to change that.
Melanza....god job on the sarnie front. It can work out quite well from a snacking point of view. If you take frozen ones in like you say they aren't defrosted until lunch....with non frozen ones I used to have them noshed way before lunch...defeating the object.
Already a bit worried about seeds.....lol.
Not sure if they should be bagged or cling-filmed....put in airing cupboard for warmth for few days....or left out for the light. seems to be a bit of conflict of info out there.
So have left in conservatory (which is cold)...but with a lamp on for them.....lol. costing me a ruddy fortune already. Mint hasn't died yet so there's a positive.Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -
All you no sleepers need a grounding sheet. ( I don't work for them or get commission LOL )
You will sleep more soundly and wake up more refreshed....honest. Read the Amazon reviews even the 3 star is a thumbs up.0 -
I've done a few things, despite my comotose state, towels into TD, took down the rest of the decs, need to pack away now. And made a variation of the Girl Called Jacks courgette sauce for pasta, it was ok, but I seem to be a bit jaded with food.
Calico, Polo does the paw on the face thing and depending on how desperate he is (there's always a dish of biscuits down, but that's not wet meat!), the claws do come out and I get swiped. Many a time I've woken up to be faced eyeball to eyeball with him.
Reference gardening, Homeba$e down here often have old plastic trays at the exit area which you can take for free. Also, they do reduce their plants so depending on planting, wait till that happens, rather than buy them immediately. It doesn't seem so bad if they fail when they only cost 10p.
Another thing I do, because I'm so rural is buy from the side of the road, people selling on their surplus plants for pennies.
It is expensive when you're first buying pots, and of course compost, I used bags and bags, but now have a (free) compost bin in the hope that it helps! I think the worms have escaped though.
Look at your local FB selling page or that site that gives things for free, can't recall it. And do you have a local recycling tip that sells on stuff that is too good for landfill, I got loads of pots from mine.0 -
Byatt My cat is the same. Middle of the night he decides to leap on the bed sit on my pillow and lick my eyebrows. I tell you it's a god job I don't have a bad heart. Or he runs full pelt up and down the stairs.
Met my daughter to go shopping today. She has been ill since before Xmas and Im glad she is picking up now. Im back at my voluntary job tomorrow then to SW to see how much weight I've put on.Not had chocolate for a few days so hope it stops that way.
