No Buying Unnecessary Toiletries December 2013

I have one small use up to report - the 1.5ml sachet of Nivea Visage Anti-Wrinkle Q10 Plus Light Day Cream is gone. I would probably buy it in future as it was quite rich and moisturising but not greasy at all, smelt nice, it absorbed well and hasn't irritated my skin. However, by the time I use all the moisturiser in my stash I will probably be an old fart and will need something industrial strength.
My Project Pan list has not got much smaller though and I also realised I forgot to add my fetching cut up tube of Neutrogena hand cream from the photo to the original list. The items in blue are currently in use and items in purple are now finished:

I'm not really doing very well and Christmas is looming ever closer. :embarasse This is an infinitesimal selection from my stash and if this is how long it takes me to use up sachets and small bottles I dread to think how many decades I have left to use up the whole lot........yet still I am dreaming of buying more beauty bargains.Time may be a great healer, but it's a lousy beautician....0 -
pirateyqueen wrote: »Oooohhhh yes! What kind of reaction are you having? Retinol can cause peeling and dry skin, and has a purging stage. I've been using a strong Retinol based product for about 11 weeks now, and have only used it every three nights. The first few weeks I had extreme purging stage and my skin was practically flaking off! Now the dryness has calmed down a lot and while I am still getting spots, they are calming down. My product is 0.1% though.
The skin around my nose started peeling, was really dry and red. I looked like I'd got a cold and had been blowing my nose too long. As it's a blind trial, I don't know what the product actually is or how strong it is. Think I might avoid retinol in the future.
I'm really tempted by the b00ts star offer, the No.7 set and I do have enough points on my advantage card....0 -
...oh dear, I succumbed and treated myself to the No.7 goody box.0

It's ok his missus, if you bought it with your points then you weren't paying any money for it!
Have a couple more UU to report;
Weleda Oat Shampoo sample - WNBA, this came with a birchbox and I ended up using the entire sample and my hair still didn't feel clean.
TBS Love Etc. Mini body butter - WNBA, I wasn't too keep on the scent to be honest. A friend gave it to me a few months ago and it's just sat in the cupboard ever since. I did like the moisture levels of this but as I said, I couldn't get on board with the scent.
In light of the Weleda shampoo not working out, I now have to take a trip to Boots this evening. Might pick up the L'Oreal Everpure shampoo as I liked that last time.Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20170 -

Does anyone have any tips for not going overboard in the January sales? I think I need to set some rules for myself incase I get tempted. I'm thinking 1) only buy HG products, and only then as long as I don't have any already "in stock" waiting to be used up. 2) Otherwise, NO TOILETRIES! I am willing to buy clothes as long as for every item I buy I throw something away.
My rule for shopping the Jan sales re: beauty products is to only buy things that I will use. I'd particularly like to get one of the Philosophy laying fragrance sets (either Amazing or Pure Grace) from Boots and I'm looking to buy on the Lush sale for Emma as she goes through quite a bit of their stuff quite quickly.I wonder if ValM might have meant China Glaze Ruby Pumps, this is the one that I have, when it came out in about 2008 I had to buy it from the US. A G**gle search throws up quite a lot of *bay with prices in the UK starting at £5.25. Nail Polish Direct are showing it in stock too.
Yes, that's the one. I have it on my desk at work at the mo as I brought it in on Wednesday to touch my nails up. They are actually bare at the moment which is something that rarely happens. Planning to repaint them later before I go out though and am going to wear OPI Royal Rajah Ruby.Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

I had it ages ago and I'm sure it's in my parent's house somewhere (along with a million and one other things that I couldn't find when I moved out!). I've actually got CG Short and Sassy on my nails at the moment with CG Pure Joy on my ring fingers too.
I own Pure Joy as well.
We swapped Secret Santa gifts at work today and I got a lovely Yankee Candle Christmas Cookie fragrance.
Another UU to report from my PP: 200ml C&P. Have a 30ml tube on the go now that I opened in York at the weekend. Once this is gone I will be starting on the stock of Elemis Balm that Santa is bringing. xBack for the No Buying Toiletries challenge.
