PS4 Not Working

Options
After waiting a few months for my ps4 , it was finally delivered this afternoon. This evening I plugged it in, it worked for about 10 minutes then it just switched off now all i get is a blue pulsing light on the front of the console. I searched the net and this is a common fault which bascially is a bricked console.

As I bought the console of Asda i assume i will have to ring them but I know they will ask to me go liase with sony which I don't want to do. Am i within my right to apply for a full refund or do I have to give them the opportunity to fix it? I purchased the console using my credit card.

  • It sounds like you may have a dud. Why don't you just exchange it for a replacement?
  • You can reject the order and your contract is with the vendor not the manufacturer. Though why you'd wait for months for an item and then not want it replaced sounds odd
  • I'm almost certain Asda won't make you liaise with Sony. You bought it from Asda after all and have only had it a few days!

Awkward situation - depends if you want a PS4 quickly.

You should liaise with Asda, if you do I am almost certain they will give you a full refund.

They are unlikely to have stock to give you a replacement.

So they we get to Sony, Sony are likely to have stock, for these launch day issues. If you want a replacement quickly you may very well have to go to Sony to get it.

Otherwise, if you happy to wait, take it back to Asda, get a refund and wait for rev 2 of the console ;)

I would suggest not being so quick to write off liasing with Sony to be honest! They'll have stock of machines ready to replace faulties & it could be as simple as them sending a courier out with a new machine to collect the faulty one. You could go to Asda & see what their remedies include, but I'll warn you just now that if you get a refund & refuse their offer of a replacement you'll likely be without a machine for some time. (i.e. into the new year unless you're willing to pay massive prices)

New technology woes, not entirely unexpected, but not exactly pleasant when it happens either but it could be worse, it could've happened on Christmas Day, which is a real possibility of becoming a MAJOR headache.

thanks for all the reply guys. Well i ended up taking the console back to my nearest Asda and they refunded me in full. no quibble whats so ever. Great Customer Service. I did want a replacement but the only problem is I will have to wait until the 28th of February 2013. I can't wait that long. So took the refunded instead. Think I will wait another 4 months before buying another console. Apparently the fault I had is very common.
