Don't worry, little_sweetie, sparky's definitely safely home from NY. He's been back a few weeks now. You must have missed his post.

Hi all, had a cheeky idea this morning..I went into my money jar and took out £40 in £10 notes which I replaced with my 2 x £20 notes in my purse..my thinking on this was, if the bf goes to the shop and I give him a £20 note he will think he has more to spend and buy rubbish buttttttttttt, if I only give him £10 he will be thinking about what he's buying and bring back lots of change...well that is the idea I will let you all know how it goes haha xx
£151 in main jar and £37.50(maybe more) in copper jar for #350

Ok, braddy, just how did you manage to do that when your pot is SEALED?? Or should be! Shameful braddy! :naughty:

Sue - how bad do you personally have it (floods)?

Ah, you saw the GT too then, Lynsey! Now you were one of the folk I guessed would comment as I knew you so wanted us to get past the £50,000 mark, but...no..and of course sadly no one else commented. :(:( BTW, personally we're ok as we live part way up a hill, so if we flood the entire village is in the mire! We've a river running through our village though and hills surrounding it and many homes are regularly flooded. We're about 5 miles from the villages shown on TV. For them it's really awful though, it's very bad most years but THIS is appauling! It does beg the question...what's to come in the future and I dread to think. PS, I loved the "confession box" retort to Modesty on having sinned, trust you. :rotfl:
Do you realise that since 2009 we've saved a GRAND TOTAL OF: £212,612.37 (I added it up from Sue's Signature) :D

Put like that, Helen, it almost sounds incredible! Absolutely amazing!! :T How I wish Molly (who tallied the 1st year's saving up while I began SPC 2) had kept account of the 2008 lot, but sadly it wasn't kept a total of at all.

Don't you belittle your 10p at all, Sam, imagine all the loan 1p, 2p & 10ps that were in that lot that people thought were "only xp" !! Always hang onto all as they make up those £££s!! :j

How are things going with you, Saver? I'm hoping you're getting on well, but either way the date on your siggy is wrong. ;)

Well done on the lamb joint bargains, jakes-mum!

Forgive me Sue for I have sinned. I unsealed my pot as I needed change. (holds hand out to be smacked).
The good news is that £100 in notes is headed for the bank today and there is still quite a few pounds worth of change left in there.

Grrrrr Modesty! There, I hope that stung! Better watch it or I'll be up for assault. :A Well done on the banking, though I see you had a jolly good shufty at the rest of what's in there. SEAL it woman!!

It's a long time til that Dawlish line will be fixed, Indie Kid, though it makes you wonder how they can improve it enough for it not to happen again. That line is in a prime position for there to always be more troubles.

Please Hicks, in this weather, do be careful on going for long walks in very wet areas. Always tell someone and let them know roughly where and when you're going. It pays to be safe. Ah, I see you come from good old Hampshire! :D A splendid county and where DH & I both were born and bred in Ringwood by the N Forest.

Girls and boys (deliberated hard about girls & boys or ladies & gents, but decided that where savings are concerned we're all like big kids :rotfl:) - if you want to shake your pots then why not, just be careful of them slipping from your hands.
£13.65 left from kids taking packed lunches this week.

Marvellous work, claireyfairy!!!! :T Look at all you're depriving shops of - and being able to make a fortune for yourself with!!!:D

Good to see you back, Lynne!! I hope you had a really wonderful time and that the weather was good. :D

My school have given me the go ahead to go from 5 days to 4 days a week so that I can go to University to study part time. It will take me five years to become a qualified teacher. It will be a long haul but worth it in the end. I'm excited!! Just need to get a place on the course and the student finance to pay for the tuition fees. :T

Fantastic news, mossy, I am so VERY happy for you!!!!!! :j

I'm keeping it brief for now, folks, as I've had a rough few days. I'm pretty much ok now though so no need for concern I promise you
Keep up the amazing saving, SPCers, you're all doing wonderfully well!! :D

PLEASE NOTE everyone: It's time to change your numbers! You'll see there are LOADS less names and numbers now, but it's useless having folk on the list that no longer save with us. However, if old members return then you'll be made very welcome and can still have your name added and be given a new number. :D Please change numbers ASAP folks.

    Sue x

Anyone wishing to join, please just ask, you're more than welcome, it's NEVER too late. There may be a lot of us, but don't be shy, we're a lovely lot, so come on in. :grinheart

I'm sticking with the potting as best I can for now. But work have just agreed for me to go back part time in May. :D:D :j:j so pennies will be tight, so hoping to spend less rather than pot more. If that makes sense.

Hope everyone's well, it's been a while since I popped in.

Hello everyone, just potted £2 coin - this is the minimum I need each week to make my £100 target but I know some weeks I don't manage that ( and occasionally it's been more!). I must try harder, I must try harder!

The surprise will be when I SMASH it open as I am not keeping a tally as some of u do!
  • Much better week this week - 3 x £2 coins saved! :)

    Hope everyone is staying safe?

    xx

I hope everyone is keeping safe and well in this awful weather.
Last night my children's school had a quiz night to raise funds. While there I bumped into some mums I don't see very often now that our eldest children have left the school and gone to different secondary schools.
Anyway, they were going to go back to one of the girl's houses for abit more partying, and invited me along. It was obvious they were in need of a sober,non-drinker,driver,so of course I accepted.Had a lovely time catching up with them, then was able to give them all lifts safely home.I kept insisting they DIDN'T need to pay me,but they kept insisting,so I did end up with £8.20 to feed my pot, which was an unexpected bonus.

Hi Sue-UU I did 4 miles yesterday; checked out flood areas befoe going. I live about 2 miles away from the nearest village so walked nearly there and back. I am not going out walking today the wind is awful here (the windows / doors are making a right old racket :(). I've just heard the village pub is flooded and so is closed for the foreseeable and I think the roads are closed it's not too clear. I should really check in with someone actually, don't know why I have never done that; thanks. I'm originally from Northamptonshire but love it here too much to go back! Love the New Forest; some nice walking places :)

My friend bought me a new money box today so more to fill and shake! Yeah I have already broken one (shaking whilst walking downstairs not advised :rotfl:) hoping I managed to find it all. I now have 4 pots - copper, silver, pounds, double pounds :D
