    Hello All!
This month I'm trying to be really careful with money. Budgeting for everything and being really tight with our money as we have so much on this year hen dos weekends away weddings nights out etc etc. so this means I'm taking out very little cash from the account which means I am having very little money to pot :-( think I've only potted about £2.50 this month! What's that all about? Any ideas on how I can continue to pot but still budget? I have worked out to reach my target of £900 I need to be potting approx £70 a month, I will be getting £45 next Thursday which I'm owed and that will go straight in the pot but its not very often I'm owed money!
Any advice would be helpful thanks!!!

I'm being very frugal until the end of March, I do every year (foodwise), but I buy small things like milk, bread etc and pay with a note. This gets me my coins.
S/scan till are great as they often give out £2 coins, like Morries today - 55p spent = £4.45 change = £4.40 potted (I don't pot 5p's). I used a card in ASDA and was livid I didn't take my £10 e-voucher!!
    Good luck.

You'll find your number at the bottom of the list on post 1st post of page 1. Please read through post 1 as it'll let you know exactly what to do with the challenge. PS. We always empty our pots and declare our savings near the end of November, please make a note of this year's date: 27th Nov.

*Please pop your numbers on your sigs, it really helps.

A lovely welcome, VickyA, and a gold star for you. Thank you. :staradmin

Just wait until November, AlwaysHappy, your Mum'll have a real shock then!

Hi there, themstarrynights, and well done. BUT - please can you swap your new SPC No over? Thanks a lot.

Good Heavens, queendiorable - £33.88?!!!! No wonder your Sis was a bit peeved! Brilliant potting! :D

I thought it would work fine, mumof3plusoh, just thought I'd let you know. ;)

It's Monkeyballs you're looking to thank, fishcakes, well done you on acting on it!!

    Good for you, Madrabbitgirl!! :j

Patience, ALM, we'll get there soon enough - apart from which - you need plenty of time to save lots more! ;)
Not posted on here much, but I am about and keep potting the odd pennies etc. But I never thought of potting money that has been saved from walking instead of taking the bus etc so I'm going to start doing that as well, not sure why I never thought about it.
Anyway, off to work tomorrow as OT but the money from that is going to overpay CC at the end of the month.
    Nannyg

Read through the 1st post on Page 1, nannyg, and see if there are any other ideas you haven't thought of yet, you never know. Re the bus fares, why give it to them when you can well do with that yourself.I love it when folk pot it rather than spend it!!

Well done, slowlyfading, keep it up. :D

Ah bless you, 32b3, that's so sweet. :A

Keep hunting, mummalove, you never know where else you may have stored some.

I went to a meeting this morning and walking through the car park I found 2 x 20p lying there doing nothing ;) so I adopted them and they now live in my lovely sealed pot with the rest of them :D

I like the adopted part, starnac. Going back again tomorrow? ;)

Hi Beth, take a look at the 1st post on Page 1 and see if there are ideas there, I try to thing of as many as possible to put on there and help folk. How about cutting back on the use of the car or public transport wherever possible and potting what you save? If you need to drive/take buses try not to use car parks by parking further away and potting the savings/CP fees....and keeping fit. Those mightn't apply to you, but if anything similar does then go for it. If you buy lunches out - don't!! Potting that will help no end.Any coffees in town, think about potting it instead.

Have a lovely evening, folks, then keep saving tomorrow. :D

PLEASE NOTE everyone: It's time to change your numbers! You'll see there are LOADS less names and numbers now, but it's useless having folk on the list that no longer save with us. However, if old members return then you'll be made very welcome and can still have your name added and be given a new number. forums.moneysavingexpert.com Please change numbers ASAP folks.

If you've already updated your No, please could you kindly make sure it's correct as I made a blunder to start with!

    Very many thanks indeed.
    Sue x

I do the Weekly Spend Challenge and set myself a target for all spending for the week. Any time I spend something I put the under £1 change in my pot and if I have money left in cash at the end of the week I either pot it or roll it over to the following week depending on how much month is left at the end of my money :D

I've also potted a bus fare this week when I walked home instead of waiting for a bus.
  • I've only added £3.42 to the pot since my last post, but this is mainly due to not buying lunch at work, not spending any money = not getting any change. I was drawing about £35 a week out previously so although the pot isn't looking as healthy as it might, my bank balance is....:)

Oh,aren't people doing brilliantly around here? :j
Potted a £10 today from extra work I did today.Notes don't have the "clunk",or the "thunk",or the "clink" sound of coins, but still very satisfying putting it in the pot.
Beth2242,a couple of things I do:when shopping,if I have bought something on special,I pot the saving.Same if the receipt says "today you have saved £xyz",I pot that amount.
    Also when shopping,if I step-down a brand,I pot the saving.
I look very hard for roadkill. It is very lean pickings this month, but last month I found over £25,including 2 notes!!
I know it is not working with cash, especially if you pay by direct debit, but a few months ago I started saving just over £20/month by changing energy supplier. If I had been doing this challenge then,I would definitely have potted the difference each month.
    Just a few ideas.
