23p in the pot today. DH has been in bed all day with a migraine as he hasn't been sleeping properly for weeks :(

My laptop has died a death and currys have said it could take 3 weeks to fix  do they not understand my comping needs?? It's like my arm has been cut off! So Jake, who got a laptop for Christmas, had it taken off him again Boxing Day :o he understands though ;) he knows mummy needs to comp if he wants these nice prezzies each Christmas :D

  • Hi everyone. Seems you all had a lovely Christmas. Can't believe the speed in which everything happens. It was chaotic here with 4 children to who managed to sleep in til 8.15!!!

I've been keeping up to date with all the posts and enjoyed all the banter. I'm still potting - I think almost £20, largely from DH's loose change from his token Christmas shopping and change. Still planning on my holiday to Africa. This thread keeps me focused - thank you all. I'm saving £200 each month into my savings account so my sealed pot is an extra. I've now got £1000 towards it. I am aiming for 2015...here's hoping....

Its going to be a strange start to the year as I've left my contracted job and am going to try and do a bit of supply teaching. I hope that it will fit around the children's extra curricula activities and different holiday times.. a bit scary though.

Anyway, I've updated my signature and am raring to go with my saving...

£3 potted, would have been £10 but I had to spend £7 on screws to fix my ceiling joist as the OH came through the loft hatch/ceiling on Christmas Day. Luckily it was easily fixed . The joist was 'held together' with 1 inch nails hammered in diagonally (literally 5mm penetrating the adjoining joist ) After a bit of investigation it would appear that the last owners did the same (falling through) but did a quick bodge job repair. It now has 4 inch screws holding it together.

Braved the Next sale on Boxing Day. Got £500 of stuff for £229 (2 kiddies kitted out for next year so can't complain). Completely saved for by a Christmas Club and Park vouchers, felt so good not having to watch what I was spending (to an extent) Going to return a couple of things though so that will be £18 potted soon.

Hope everyone had a good Christmas. My house still resembles a bomb site :rotfl:
  • Potted £1.60 today.
Found another £1 coin and that's gone in too.
Had to take the Christmas tree down tonight because the cat decided to climb into it. Made a right mess he did, naughty puss.
Wouldn't have minded too much but it was a real tree but I couldn't be bothered fraffing about with it again, so It's now in the garden.

    Hi! :D

I'm one of those 'I'm determined to save this year' ones...only to fail on the 2nd of Jan! :D

I took part in this (well...it was my inspiration!) to save all my £2 coins for the iPad I bought last year, and it worked very well!

I am going to set myself a target of £250 this year if that's ok?

Hope everyone has had a lovely Christmas & Boxing Day, looking forward to being part of the sealed pot gang in 2014! :T

  • Got round to sorting out the pile of change which had amassed on the dining table today, plus added anything I found that DH had deposited in random places a couple of pounds in coppers and 5p and 10p coins want into the sealed pot and all the rest got split amongst their respective pigs
2014 20p savers club #2 I've given up trying to keep track of how much that pig eats!
2014 £2 savers club #3 - I've no idea, but the pig is beginning to get mighty heavy

A very warm welcome, nows the time, Richy23 and stebo730. It's lovely to have you with us. :grinheart Enjoy yourself saving, posting and joining in the banter. You'll find your number at the bottom of the list on post 1st post of page 1. Please read through post 1 as it'll let you know exactly what to do with the challenge. PS. We always empty our pots and declare our savings near the end of November, please make a note of this year's date: 27th Nov.

Please also subscribe to the thread by clicking on "Thread Tools" (lower green bar) and clicking "Subscribe to this thread"...or you may lose us! To put your SPC No on, go to "Quick Links" (right side of top green bar), click and then click on "Edit Signature" and you're away. ;)

*Please pop your numbers on your sigs, it really helps.

Richy23 and stebo730 - your Targets of £250 are on for you both, good luck in getting there!

It sounds like a fantastic night, fishcakes, and nothing to pay! Great news about the £30 gift!!! :j

its now back to work and back to the saving bring on 2014

Oh glassy, thoughts of your little lad's face are wonderful for those reading your post, but for you it has to have been one of those very best moments. Treasure it always! :A Now, you've started all over again for next Christmas and more joy, well done you! :D

Hi elizabunny, good to hear you've had a lovely time...though only just got round to thinking of your pot??! Shameful. ;)

    Very well done, Delly.......

    ......you too, 32b3!

A shame about your laptop, jakes-mum, but poor Jake. :( Lets hope yours won't be long.

What did you.....drug your kiddies on Christmas Eve, Hollygym??!!!! What a time for kiddies to sleep too! It's good to know the SPC keeps you focused, brilliant, stay focused and live your dreams.

Oh dear, nikki2804! What more can I say...apart from I'm glad it was fixable. :D

So you're another one who needs to put sprigs of holly in the tree next year, KittyBoo! Well worth doing so.

Good of DH to keep you supplied with cash, bladerunner, very thoughtful. :rotfl:

PLEASE NOTE everyone: It's time to change your numbers now. You'll see there are LOADS less names and numbers now, but it's useless having folk on the list that no longer save with us. However, if old members return then you'll be made very welcome and can still have your name added and be given a new number. :DPlease change numbers ASAP folks.

If you've already updated your No, please could you kindly make sure it's correct as I made a blunder to start with!

    Very many thanks indeed.

    Sue x

Anyone wishing to join, please just ask, you're more than welcome, it's NEVER too late. There may be a lot of us, but don't be shy, we're a lovely lot, so come on in. :grinheart
