  • Hello - can I join in too please or am I too late? I've seen the notes in everyone's signature, and would love to have one in mine as well :D

Just finished work for 10 days - at last! - have been itching to get cracking on my spreadsheet for 2014 and start planning some challenges to keep me on track - but then realised I was a month behind on this one :rotfl::rotfl: story of my life !

I did something similar with a friend a few years ago, each of us was saving up spending money for the family holiday, every time we got a £2 coin it went into the tin (we both started to dread getting change as we ended up skint :D) but it did the trick, we had about £300 by July, and my friend made it to about £600 by the autumn.

If it's ok to be coin-ist  can I keep my sealed pot just for 10p and over coins please? I already have a big bottle we use for 1p, 2p and 5p coins, which nets us around £70 every couple of years, I'm already in the habit of hoovering up the loose change every weekend from purses & pockets, so I'm planning on putting the sealed pot nearby and just expanding my hoovering filter to bigger coins (hubby's going to wonder what hit him :rotfl::rotfl:) No specific target or goal in mind, it'll be really interesting though to see how much we can put away without feeling any pain !

    Thanks

  • Hi everyone! :hello:

Potted a few pence yesterday! Although, I did go to the coffee shop this morning with OH and he pulled out a massive pile of coins to pay with... So I have figured where all my extra coins have been going, good thing he has me to look after them for him :D

Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas from the Sunshine!

It's never too late to join, Suziebabe. A very warm welcome to you. :grinheart Have fun saving, posting and enjoying the banter. You'll find your number at the bottom of the list on post 1of page 1. Please read through post 1 as it'll let you know exactly what to do with the challenge. PS. We always empty our pots and declare our savings near the end of November, please make a note of this year's date: 27th Nov.

Please also subscribe to the thread by clicking on "Thread Tools" (lower green bar) and clicking "Subscribe to this thread"...or you may lose us! To put your SPC No on, go to "Quick Links" (right side of top green bar), click and then click on "Edit Signature" and you're away. ;)

*Please pop your numbers on your sigs, it really helps.

Suziebabe, you sound as though you know exactly how SPC works so good luck to you and to answer your question, save the coins exactly as you wish.

Good to hear the tree's growing so rapidly, Lynne.

I'm so pleased you remained in wise mode, claireyfairy, as that was a LOT of cash to pot, very well done! :j

Very good, skilly, a nice amount.

A busy day for you today, sparky, but still counting down the days no doubt so not too bothered about work I don't suppose.

It's good to hear you've practically finished, Lynsey, me too now and what a relief.

jakes-mum, your name and No will remain on the list, so anytime you change your mind - you're welcome here.

Hi LC 2, good to see you.

It's good to know he has you to look after him...and his cash, tatabubbly. :D

Have a lovely Sunday, folk...still saving if you have chance

PLEASE NOTE everyone: It's time to change your numbers now as they're all done and simply need swapping over. You'll see that there are LOADS less names and numbers now, but it's useless having folk on the list that no longer save with us. However, if old members return then you'll be made very welcome and can still have your name added and be given a new number. forums.moneysavingexpert.comPlease change numbers ASAP folks.

If you've already updated your No, please could you kindly make sure it's correct as I made a blunder to start with!

    Very many thanks indeed.

    Have a great weekend, everyone.
    Sue x

Anyone wishing to join, please just ask, you're more than welcome, it's NEVER too late. There may be a lot of us, but don't be shy, we're a lovely lot, so come on in. :grinheart

After surviving an eyebrow wax earlier I felt brave so chucked £6 in my pot.... Also found about 40p in shrapnel while looking for something in my junk room so potted that too.

I had an eyebrow wax and tint and my youngest GS asked me what had I done. Explained it and he said "Well nanny it's freaking me out" I have never had it done since .:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Could I join in this please? Do I have to do anything apart from a seal a pot and chuck anything I find in there?

Of course you do you have to come on and tell us everything you know how [STRIKE]nosey[/STRIKE] interested we are

    Hello All,

Potting has been slow, but tis the season to be shopping!! A few coins have made their way into the pot, but sure it will improve after the festivities.

In the meantime....I have fantastic news........saw the surgeon on Wednesday and the second lot of surgery showed that the cancer cells that were remaining from the tumour had been killed off. Woohoo.....best Christmas present ever. Even the surgeon gave me a hug!

Merry and peaceful Christmas to you all.

  • Thanks for adding me. I've spent ten minutes with a craft knife turning a fancy toiletries gift box into my sealed pot. I couldn't believe how tough the cardboard was but managed to do it without losing any fingers.

I've already added £12 of road kill that I found in one week. I don't think I've ever moved so fast as when I spotted the tenner in a pile of leaves. I've added my husband's change that he brought back from his work do as I didn't expect him to bring anything back. I've also gone through all my coat pockets and handbags so I'm guessing I've probably saved about £25 already. I just hope I can stay so motivated all year.
