    Debt-free and Proud!
Yesterday marked SFD 10 so thats good. Today is a spend day as had to pay for DS swimming for next term or we lose the place, he loves it and we don't do any other activities other than a £1.50 playgroup. I've forecast my account for the next month. Due to the childrens activities payouts are a little more than normal.

We have to go to hey diddle lidl for nappies as DS's cloth ones are just too small and as he will be 2 next month I can't see the point in buying more as he is starting to show signs of being ready to potty train. I think nearly 2 years in cloth is not bad and DD used the nappies for two years too! Hurrah for cloth nappies!
Will still use our cloth wipes though because they are a huge money saver.

Anyway, I digress. £55 left of the shopping budget, eek! We are going to get a few more bits, mainly fresh stuff but I am hoping there should be some left over for next month. Still the freezer is full so w shouldn't need to spend much.

DS has come out with the pox now, doesn't look too bad but should help the NSDs!

  • Morning DDD's

It doesn't feel like morning to me, I've just had my lunch because I'm starting at 5 all this week.

I didn't think I would be able to go to bed at 2100 each night but I've been ready to go from half eight onwards.

Had an amazing weekend visiting. Got another Christmas present bought and bought snacks for the journey down and back up again so three spend days out of the four I was away for.

SFD total is now 9 and I've just printed off a calendar to see where else I need to spend. Went to see some friends last night, had to take presents to some littlies (had to buy them on the way) so it was a spend day, rounded off with £2 plus whatever coin flew out of my hand to go through the dartford tunnel. Will count my loose coins tonight to see what I lost. Traffic and weather was horrible yesterday so I didn't go to the supermarket as I planned which means I am going to have to make another SD.

This is looking like being Thursday because I have three last gifts to get, including secret santa for work and some parcels to collect which means I may have to pay for parking. Don't really need any food but I need some new scrubby sponge things and some deoderant, but I may give in and buy a roll on. i'm not keen on them but I think they last longer.

Still up on my money somehow. Went through everything I have bought on my spreadsheet against my app, they total each other but the actual money in my hand is up. I think I may have miscalculated what I had left from November, maybe some notes were stuck together, *shrugs*.

Looks like my 15 day will be Christmas Day!

  • Morning all. :rudolf:

Today was a spendy day for me. I have ordered 2 more gifts for the boy. Hexbugs and a Skylander figure. Was hoping his Dad might pay for these but he has no cash. Also got a memory card for a camera I bought last winter in the post Christmas Avon sale. I think I am going to put the camera to one side again for now though as he has enough pressies without it and he hasn't asked for a camera. The same thing happened when it was his birthday. Might save it for his next birthday or give it at some other point during the year if a treat is called for.

I have spent a couple of hours wrapping his pressies this morning and the pile is looking good :) Feeling proper festive now :) I have just had a big bowl of my home made veggie soup and have a friend coming round for coffee :coffee:(and cake..) this afternoon. Lovely.

Tomorrow will also be spendy as I have another Sainsbobs grocery delivery coming at about £90. Will update totals after. This will see us through the festive period with the exception of bread and milk hopefully and then we can do some eating up the leftovers and emptying the cupboards again in January. I used another £12 voucher and got free delivery so all good.

Right better have a little tidy up before G arrives!

Hi Kat, just to say that I've been perusing the first page of all your challenges that you've done to become debt-free. And I am so looking forward to what you'll have for us in January! I know, we've not had Christmas yet. Heck, it's not even the 20th! But your '5 goals for 2014' part of the DDD has got me planning ahead in a way I've never done before!

We'll enter 2014 in a fortunate position: dh starts his new job (having only been unemployed for 5 months) and I'll be working extra days. So I've already earmarked money for mortgage and savings. Copying MrsGSR's colour calendar idea is fun! And today I've made myself some colouring in sheets for various goals for 2014.

Dd breaks up for Christmas in 2 days and is soo excited about it. We're having a quiet one, so no fraught family issues or feeding the 5000 to contend with.

And your January challenge to look forward to! (no pressure!)

Hi everyone! Checking in with NSD 6 today.

Also some excellent news, OH was lucky enough to get a payrise yesterday, and an official promotion to the position he's been unofficially working in for a couple of months, which is fab!! An excellent early Christmas present. :xmassmile:xmassmile:xmassmile.

This then led to a chat about debts and the wedding fund. The wedding fund will get a boost so we should now be on track for our target, which is a relief. OH has also been saying for ages that we should treat all our debts as 'joint' and clear them between us, which initially I was unwilling to do as it felt like a step too far, and if it led to my debts being cleared quicker I didn't want to owe him anything. However, as we're getting married in August perhaps it's time to take the leap!! There is also the fact that in April 2015 I won't be earning, (unless I get another job sharpish), and the more we clear between us the more comfortable we will be on one wage while I get sorted out. So soon I may get an updated sig and we may have a joint DFD.... I also suspect my debts will be the first to be cleared as my interest rates are terrible, which is good and bad. So in between me getting an assignment in, the weekend may be spent with spreadsheets and the snowball calculator... If I can pin OH down, as he's great with ideas but can be hard to get to take action and do things.... :rotfl:

  • I'M BACK!!!.... Hello everybody!!!!:hello::hello::hello:

Wow! It's been 6 WHOLE days since I have sat down and REALLY read everything! I feel proper guilty but trust me you Hobbitses have not been far from my mind at all...

I am now at my Mumsy and Pa's house (after a two hour journey home) and Ma is clucking around feeding me - home made soup and bread anyone..? The open log fire is on, wind is blowing a gale outside, met the brother for lunch today as he comes home on Friday - only to realise he has put the tree up at home for me already and there are light on outside!! Awwww!

    Life is good!

I am going to witter then backtrack AGAIN and see how everyone is... first off thought I realise that we have had heart ache in our midst and wish to extend my deepest sympathies to Calling.. I am sorry for your loss which is hard enough to deal with when it's unexpected but worse at this time of year. My condolences to you and virtual hugs...

You are all going to get sick of me over the next few days.. I am going to go through the pages with a fine tooth comb and see where everybody is...

Personally my CC is up to around £500 which is my capped limit. I am literally going to be "mooching" for the next few days. WE passed by my brothers place of work which is about 2 hours from home and bought Mumsy a few items that were required so onto the CC they went and I shan't be asking for funds to cover them. It's the least I can do at this time of year...

I can see a few comments about the NEXT CHALLENGE.. so I shall have to see where everybody is in dealing with this one before constructing the next. I honestly feel in limbo and I hate it. I just have nothing to fight for or focus on and am willing away the time between now and payday which is just silly. I need to focus and plan before I miss the end of the year and really say good bye to it...

So I shall be having a very very very very very very lazy day tomorrow and don't plan to get up until my body says it's ok. I stayed at Granny's last night and she is old skool.. breakfast is at 0800 whether you like it or not and it's set out on the table the night before...:rotfl: ..so tomorrow breakfast will be at noon..:T:T:T

Siouxsie there aren't any orange peels out yet... For those that don't know last year I posted about Mumsie's orange peels which are left infront of the fire to dry out. Once dry they make excellent kindling when you are just lighting the fire but they crackle and make a purple flame which amuses me greatly even though I am 30 years old... :rotfl:...

Right then... I need to get my PJ's on and get a herbal tea on the go. No matter what you do with the fire over here when your 6'4" father is sat on the arm-chair in front of you there is no heat getting to you.... so I am still cold...:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:....(honestly incase Mumsy reads this and tells me off he has offered to move 4 times and I have refused.. he had a long old journey today and I need to MSE...:T).....

    Okay enough now....

Oh hang on.. Pa got some vegan mince pies for me today. I wasn't watching him carefully enough.. 4 mince pies for £4..:eek:..and he got two boxes...:eek:.. it would have been a LOT more if they weren't out of stock... MSE Mummy NSK went nuts....:rotfl:

  • NSD today! had a very exciting lunch of chicken soup; salad and a mince pie. have lost 3lb since Saturday ...

yummy dinner of ratatoille (spelling sorry!) and lamb chop (yellow stickered)! not finding i'm really missing the potatoes/rice/pasta...

our pay day has been brought forward to the 23rd - not sure if that's positive - it is only 1 day ahead of when i expected, but it obviously still has to last until end of January. probably best just not to touch (other than to chuck allowable amounts at the monster - sooner i do that the less interest accruing as the balance is smaller) to make january easier. I do have some money left - but will be going out Friday (and i don't have to drive) so have budgeted £20 for that (my splurge day). Not sure whether to interrupt skinny rules for pub food or just to eat at home. i look forward to clippygirl and or Fmess for some input as you're doing something similar. (sorry for overshare - highlight if you want to read it) keep finding i need the toilet because i'm drinking so much more water ...

Been lent a new book to read - Unexpected Magic by Diana Wynne Jones - really enjoying it so far. the short stories are short enough to read and enjoy without feeling short-changed.
. am i procrastinating from more marking ? no no never. will be lurking :)

well if you follow clippys method you will eat approx 15 quality street, wotsits, refreshers and will be eating rice for dinner  :o

i would interupt it and have your pub dinner if it is a special occasion and have it as your splurge meal. i know you are not meant to have one for the first few times but we havent really picked the best time of year to start! i am starting properly day after boxing day but trying to at least do some of the rules until then! :)
