    Hi everyone!

Calling-So sorry to hear of your loss. Sending you hugs.

Purple Jay, hope your feeling better soon!

I haven't managed to read through all the posts yet,so will be going through them on my lunch break. I had a Spend day on friday as predicted as was my daughters 17th. We had a lovely evening. We went for a meal then to see the Butler. Very emotional, but very well acted. We didn't get home till around 12.20am. I really was struggling to stay awake :o I remember the days when I would have just been leaving the house at that time :rotfl:

The weekend where SFD's. Yesterday I needed a boost (or just plain greedy and bought 2 boxes of mince pies :o for £2 from t3sc0. Today I'm working from home and do not intend to spend anything for the rest of the week.

Good luck everyone and keep going :T

    Hi everybody,

Just popping in to update, and also give hugs to everybody that needs them.

I've achieved the 15 SFD days as I bought petrol and went to the post office one time, and then bought petrol and paid for a swimming locker the second time. All groceries are being paid for with supermarket gift cards that I was given through work.

Kitty-Boo - Brilliant news at increasing your payments, wouldn't your DFD now be cira 2028? which it totally achievable :T

traveller - it took me two days to get over my staff Christmas party, and I was drinking iced water all night. I think it's as much to do with the noise and burning the candle at both ends rather than alcohol induced :rotfl:

Have a good day everybody :)

What I thought may be a few money-free days hasn't happened! I thought my personal snotfest and inability to venture out would almost guarantee not spending! Humph!

So, to the damage: Sun- an online 20% off everything due to run out at midnight and a 75p voucher meant I bought a shedload of laundry liquid, which'll last aaaages. (Reminds me of nsk telling us about her shampoo and conditioner purchases). Mon was a NSD- phew! Then today I decided to pay for dd's milk - online, so could've done it anytime. Dh suggested we do our wekly Ald1 shop today, use the £5 off voucher and it.d save me going on my own later. The trip wiped we out, but am happy to have it done.

Have been reading around a lot on the mfw and the dfw boards. It is truly inspirational! Being asked / required (!) to do 5 goals for 2014 for DDD was brilliant, to get us resolving things before the rest of the country starts such things. I've a page in my notebook for 2014 goals/ideas/aspirations. I'll also read back through these posts to see what you put for next year, and quite possibly pinch a few ideas.

14 days of December left and I need 6 NSD to make the target. Christmas Day and Boxing Day are 2 more easy ones (I hope!!) so 4 to find...

  • Yay, another SFD making it 11!

Felt much better today, went to see M in his Nativity play which was excellent and then did some cooking when I got back. Over did it though and have a nasty pain in my side which is thankfully subsiding. Must be careful.

Very happy to have cooked a 'gravy dinner' - lots of veg with Yorkshire puds for tea and while it was cooking a pan of pasta sauce - enough for twice (poss with leftovers for lunch each time) and a pan of veggie soup :) I love to cook.

Well done splodge on the car insurance! Any tips? Mine is up for renewal in the Spring.

Also well done on resisting the chocolate! This is one area, I have very little will power with :( Hugs to all who need/want them

I got a quote which was less than my current providor, rang them up, and said can you match it? they said yes - job done! I had also done pass plus this year, too.

Another set of exams to mark tonight. sigh. going to count up my change again tonight :) i love emptying my money box heeheehee.

Just had a skim through to catch up - things move so quickly on here!

Calling, big hugs to you and so very sorry for you and your family.

Cheery thoughts to everyone who's feeling poorly sick, horrible time of year to get the grots.

Go get 'em to those of you who are dieting already! I don't eat much but feel bloated all the time (and I haven't even started on the mince pies yet) so will probably go back onto yeast free diet after Xmas, although the CRAP diet sounds slightly more exciting, at least I'd get an excuse to say it a lot!

Agree with everyone about sluggish Ebay ~ no more sales on there now for me until 2014 I think (hence why my £10 a day in December challenge total is looking a bit sad - I had hoped for better things, never mind)!

Slow progress, another NSD today so total updated ~ rest of the week is doomed though, but hopefully once we get into next week it'll even out (especially next Weds, shall definitely not be putting hand in pocket)!

Finishing work early Thurs and going to cash and carry with Mum and StepDad to get rest of crimble food shopping, so that'll blow the good work so far in that total - at least it's a few quid in hand though!

Goals are all in hand too, although not looking at them as often as I should, am thinking of checking them each day over breakfast or such, to keep me focused!

Have managed to stay away from sales although is getting more tricky. I did actually surf ever so slightly as I wanted to get something cheap and cheerful to wear over Christmas, but did the trick of loading basket and turning machine off to "cool off". In between mum popped round with a lovely top she's got too busty for, so I've got a new top and no spend!

One of my sons asked me what I want for Crimble and told me it must be something "different" ie: not smellies, books or socks (yes, apparently I am that predictable)! So I've asked for a Terramundi type pot (cheaper version) to help keep me on the straight and narrow as the mantra for 2014's going to be "pot it, don't spend it!"

Hugs to everyone, keep well and warm

    Evening all,

It is quiet on here today! And just as I'm starting to get more time to properly read everyone's posts!

Spend day today as bought food for fuddle and Christmas chocs for the last day of term :) I've gone over my food budget but am within our contingency money (which has also paid for a vets visit :) ). Never had a contingency fund before, I'm definitely enjoying the security of a spare few pounds. I've decided to save £50 from my personal money a month and save any left over money from the joint acc (and council tax money on the two months we don't pay it) for a joint acc/vets contingency fund. Just realised I'm starting to sound more like a grown up!

Should be SFD tomorrow and maybe Thursday and Friday. I'm not sure when I get paid this month! Assumed is was 24th as this is the closest day to my normal payday but others reckon it's this Friday, which would be more useful :) fingers crossed! Looking forward to paying more debts on payday (and buying a turkey!)

Hugs to all who want/need them, night all

Quick catch up from me.....not a lot to report though :)

I booked my car in for it's mini-service on Friday so I'm hoping tomorrow and Thursday can SFDs. Today was a spend day as I more or less finished my Christmas shopping. Spent the evening wrapping and all I need to do now is parcel them up and get them to the Post Office. Oh, and pay for them to be taken over the Irish sea :)

After paying my dry cleaning, there is precisely £45.77 left in my misc budget. Allowing £25 for my service on Friday, that leaves me with £20.77 to buy my dad a gift and post the parcels to NI and I think that'll be me done with the spending for December! Any ideas for dad gifts that cost a tenner?

Food budget's not bad - £52.36 left there and not too much left to buy. I have a bit left in the fridge (enough to last til the end of the week) and I'll be away for most of the rest of the month after that so hopefully I can scrape by. I do have a night at a friend's house where I'll be staying over so I'll need to contribute to dinner/breakfast.

Payday for me is the 24th but I'll have a week of no man's land (as I like to call it) where I'll still be living on December's budget, yet eager to do my monthly money shuffle! The clock won't reset til 1 January for the new budgets. I used to find getting to the end of the month tough and I'd start the budgets again as soon as payday came round. Often this meant I was 25% through my budgets by the time the new month officially started and I was playing catch up. Since I realised this I've been making the budgets last from the first til last day of each month. Always nice to get paid though and I'd rather the money was sitting in my bank account 5 days early every month :)

Looking forward to Kat's tales from the emerald isle...especially the ones about oranges and the roaring fire (or at least that's how I remember it!).
  • Yesterday was a spend day doing a bit of Christmas pressie shopping.
I hate it when my sons ask me what I want for Christmas because I don't need anything really. (well I could do with a new bra but I think that might be asking a bit too much of them).
I've got a couple of gift sets that were gifts to me that I'm re-gifting . I hope I don't give them back to the friends who gave them to me.
I usually buy my grown up sons socks and boxer shorts or thermals for work.
Bought my Mum slippers and Grandson's getting a musical cot mobile. That's it for gifts. Just got to wrap them now.
Hopefully I'll be able to clock up a few more NSD as I only need fresh veg and milk.
The one thing I've not budgeted for is some overdue library books but will try and use any unspent food budget or other pots to pay this.
Hope everyone has a good day.

It's hump day which also means it's Money saving email day! Shall be reading that shortly after posting on here! :)

Had a SFD yesterday bringing my total to = 9 Sfds :T

Not completely sure how today will pan out, as either today or tomorrow I've got to pay my council tax for the month. I pay at the P.O with a card you see, so can't get away with a direct debit which would constitute a SFD. So need to decided when to pay it so that I can work any other purchases around it.

I have a question for the Mystery Shoppers out there? I have never partaken in a mystery shop so please excuse my naiivety (hehe looks a bit like nativity). How is your tax and N.I calculated? Do you have to do a tax return for this? I'm a little baffled, as would the tax be at a different rate as it would be classed as a second job? Tis just something I might consider in the New Year, but want to make an informed decision before committing to it. Thanks in advance for any info!

Had a bit of an embarassing moment yesterday when present swopping with friends. I've only made small presents again this year, as despite being DF I haven't got a whole lot left of my wage after my last debt payment. I've made my own take on the classic 'Snowman soups,' have handmade really pretty tags and have also decorated them in tissue paper with a charm. (I made necklaces last year so it's an extra charm for the necklace). Anywho, one of my other housemates had a similar idea (although not made quite as smashing as my own and minus a tag and charm and slightly different filling). however she's also made other items to go with it. Felt like a bit of a scrooge when I realised this. :( I know I'm being silly but feel like my thunder has been stolen a little.

Anyways, it's not important- pull yourself together Dove! :p

Hope everyone's week is getting better!

Hugs to all of you x
