Calling14 - So sorry to hear about your family members. :(
Purplejay- Hope you feel better soon.

I had a Christmas work lunch today, mostly stuff that people had brought in but I had to give one of my colleagues a couple of pounds as she had brought in LOADs! So no NSD for me today. Hopefully tomorrow/Wednesday should be to get me back on track...

Other than that am sortof on track. Bought a train ticket yesterday but that was planned. No more diesel required until probably Thursday. No sales. All Christmas presents done.... Now I just need to spend no money for the rest of the month!! As my only outing to a pub is on Christmas Eve, and OH has promised to buy me a drink, I should manage, I hope!

    Evening all

Diet is going well, thanks for asking his missus. It was very useful at work today with all the treats around. I did have 3 chocolates but would have probably had 30 (no exaggeration!) if I wasn't on a diet. Apart from the chocs, I haven't had a snack since Saturday, which is amazing for me. Really excited for my book to arrive now :)

SFD today :) Think that's number 8 (will check my signature). Took lunch to work :)

Tomorrow is a spend day as I need to get food for a work fuddle on Wednesday.

Work has slowed down today :) Yay! Only done 2 hours work outside the classroom and have already put my laptop and marking away for the evening :)

I'm liking the idea of a calendar with stickers on! Think I might need to make my own calendar of annual spends (may get the laptop out again)

Big hugs to everyone, hope everyone has had a good day

  • Calling14 so so sorry to hear of your loss, sending you hugs and I hope you have support around you to look after you too...

PurpleJay hope you are feeling better now...

NSD here today and kitty seems to be improving slowly. She's still playful and affectionate but has a nasty cough. No blood tho - phew.

Finally managed to pop round to the old house when someone was in, and was given the bad news that our xmas decorations are no longer in the loft and have been thrown out when they moved in - NOOOOO! most of it I don't mind about (other than the cost of getting new ones) but it's the sentimental special ones that upset me - the ones from when I was a kid which my mum gave me when I moved out, and ones friends have bought for me over the years... oh well. This year the tree will just have some lights on it, and some cookies I will bake, and some candycanes from the £ shop. I am not spending any more money this month!!!

Fmess you are so right about the diet now... I think I will start now and then go into full proper attack mode in January. I was listening to Eddie Izzard on the radio this am and he was saying about the C.R.A.P diet - no Caffeine, no Refined sugar, no Additives (or alcohol I guess? and no Preservatives. I think I might try and be 'restrained' until Jan and then go FULLY onto this then. Caffeine has been out since May and I feel loads better for that, so who knows, might feel amazing!

hugs to all, seems like there's some tough times out there x

Well done splodge on the car insurance! Any tips? Mine is up for renewal in the Spring.

Also well done on resisting the chocolate! This is one area, I have very little will power with :(

I like the sound of the CRAP diet TiptoesDB, we'll have to compare them in the New Year after a few hardcore weeks.

Never mind clippy, start again tomorrow...

Hugs to all who need/want them

  • Hullo Hobbitses!

Hope you have all got through Monday Ok!!

Calling14 - Incredibly sorry to hear of your loss!! My thoughts are with you and your family. I hope your other family member pulls through x

MrsGSR - Chart + Stickers + Colour = a Definite WIN in my books! What a superb idea! I've used the strategy on my 100 square chart for paying back debt/ savings, but you have taken visual organisation to the next level! So I shall applaud you! :T

Tiptoes - Glad to hear Kitty is on the mend despite her lil cough!

Saturday was a planned spend day, I actually came in £30 under budget which I am super pleased with! The show was fantastic and made up for the disappointment of Winter W0nderland!

Sunday was a SFD- hooray! This brings me to : 8 Sfds

Today was a Spend day- Fuel 20.00, Kitty fuuds, gift and toiletries and the aid of a £3 off voucher and the use of £5 of my points to make the total £8 lighter made for a small success.

I have done all of my car levels today, checked all of my lights and also made use of the 'free air' at the Supermarkets petrol station to refill my somewhat flat tyres! So car is a little more winter proof!

NSK - Have a safe trip home!! Happy holidays!!

Mine start on Friday eve- I can't wait! I haven't had a whole week off since last Christmas so super excited!! :)

  • Morning everyone.
Just spent the last hour catching up on the posts and sending hugs to those who need them.
I've not been on here for a few days but just wanted to add an update.
Had another NSD amongst a few spendy ones but still in budget.
It's amazing that the spend days manage to creep up on me, even though I think I've got a tight hold on things.
No major spends but things I've forgotten.
I've kept a notebook to record every item I've bought, so that I can see what type of things make me go off to the shops
I really do need to fin a long life milk that I like because this is one thing I end up having to get.
I know I can freeze fresh milk but I've no room in the freezer at the minute.
I've been paying the minimum payment to creditors recently as part of a debt management plan (£3 a month to each of 4 creditors) but sine I've been doing this challenge, I have made an arrangement to pay them £20 each. This will clear my debts quicker and it is achievable if I'm strict with myself and plan meals, get cheaper insurance and stop spending on c**p.
I'll work out when my debts will be paid off which has got to be an improvement on the 100 years it was going to take me.
I've also been doing a bit of mystery shopping and joined survey sites so I can put some more money towards it.
    Hope your day goes well.
