Debt Destruction December!!!

I'm not going to give you an ear-bashing NSK because you've done such an amazing job these past 12 months I think 160 quid is hardly a splurge and look at the thought that went into it!!
Treat yourself girlfriend!!! You are a superstar!(So long as this stops soon and you start saving like a mad-woman!!!)
Think you might get mad at me though - i need some new shoes and tights (both have holes in the heels and toes!!!! I'm like a street urchin!) and may need to make a primarni trip this weekend! argh!!!!!!!!!
I'll give myself a budget of 11 quid which i shouldn't really spend but it's better than people looking suspiciously at my broken footwear!
eek! trying a NSD day today to compensate!Debts @ LBM (May 2013): £25,250.27 | Debt Free: May 2015 :j:j0 -
Today will be alow spend day. Got 5 quid in my pocket and will take them to LIDL at lunch to get milk, bread and see what nice fruit and veg they have.
Painted some more kitchen doors yesterday and can hopefully post the finished result soon. Definitely want to get them finished before I go home and then i can whitewash the walls before christmas, yay. LOVE DIY.
I want to tell you off NSK for your TKMAXX splurge but I can't :rotfl:. You done so well the last year and deserve a treat and if you think about it most things you bought will last for 10 month as they are high quality = only £13 a month, so a bit MSEDEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -
I think that's an extremely well planned splurge NSK, like the others have said you have worked so hard on clearing your debts in the last year and learning MS skills then why not? Sounds like you are sorted for months! How big are these bottles of shampoo and conditoner?
I really need to take a leaf out of your book NSK and eat better, I drink too much coffee for a start, on my next spend day I'm going to buy some herbal teas. Breakfast and tea are generally fine but lunch often gets forgotten.
Today will be my third NSD, it's cold and miserable out there and I don't fancy going outside!Squirrelling away in September No 33It's not about the money, it's about financial freedom, being in control of it and living in the natural world and not a material world0 -
Kat your spend is definitely allowed! Well done!abundant1972 wrote: »
I had an idea called 'a month ahead'... Work out how much you need to live on for a month including all your food, bills etc... How much would that be per day? Get a spread sheet with 31 boxes on... each filled in with the amount you worked out. When you have spare cash - you can drop it into a tin or jar labelled 'a month ahead' - as you fill each day, you colour it in... When it's full - you are then a month ahead of yourself and won't be always living for that next pay day... Plus it gives you something smaller you can strive for during the course of a month...
Fab idea - will have a think about starting this in January. Maybe you could start a challenge?splodgethefirst wrote: »Indeed - though I am going to do it monthly (and backwards) - so month 1 = £202; month 2 - £186; month 3 - £170 etc back to month 12 (December!) - £10
This is a great idea too and I think I will try and start it from January too.
So, yesterday ended up being a spend day again as PIL announced there wasn't enough milk at home for DS - so I bought some on my way home and also a couple of YS things, total spend £2.42. However, I also spent £840 on my annual train pass  However I had bought a £30 train voucher from a friend for £20 so saved £10 there, and also had been saving the difference between the annual pass/12 and the monthly pass for the whole of last year so had £327.70 (including interest) to pay off some of it. So not too painful but still....:o
Then bought the Bespoke offers £10 M&S gift card for £5 today - nothing particular in mind but always handy to have.
Scores on the doors for me:- SFD 0/15
- Food £6.78/£130.
- “Spend” Money - £0/£90.
- Envelopes to be sorted tonight.
- Drop one Christmas outing/party - done.
- Food bank - £1.66/£5
- DFD - 31st December 2014.
- Lunch from home - today I have cannellini bean falafel things again with stale pitta and cherry tomatoes.
- No sales attended!

Thrifty... I'm right with you on that one! I find I'm always waiting for the next pay day, so I can chip a bit more off the debt and as you say, sort the spread sheets and balance the books. The days in between are filled with thriftiness and work, and I lose count of how often I log into my online banking a day to check things against my budget ha ha!!! I'm obsessed!

I don't know - this might go against the 'pay off all your debt first' principal, and is perhaps something we can do when debt free...? What do you think...???

I love this idea! I'm constantly checking accounts and moving money round and starting to see the night at the end of the DF tunnel. Visual stuff works very well for me too.Squirrelling away in September No 33It's not about the money, it's about financial freedom, being in control of it and living in the natural world and not a material world0 -
only i nsd so far, hoping for another today although not looking very likely as the kids are in uproar over the lack of treats. If I give in it will be £1 in the bakery on the way home from school. Although I have some clothes to get rid of which should net me at least £5 so in profit although not a nsd!
Have got my son booked in for a few extra hours to get all my shopping finally done. I am finding that I can stick to my budget better this way rather than buy bits as I go then forgetting what I have bought.
Love TKMax, some great finds in there usually.October Grocery Challenge £4000 -

Me too - was too good an offer to resist.
Also ended up buying some walking boots was in agony yesterday in my old ones walking the doggy. Think the health of my feet more important than saving 30 pounds were half price.
Then adding to my spending day daughter wanted Glee series 3 for xmas - so at least starting my xmas pressie shopping.
I think no one will begrudge Kat some spoilage now.
No more spending for me now todayLBM 13039 1.1.13 Now £0 Finally Debt FreeMortgage free Oct 2019:)EFund/savings £25000 10/11/220 -
So... I have a bit of a funny story to tell you.
My Dad got some PPI repayment thing through and gave me 300 euros for my holiday to Disneyland.
I used my extra money to get another 200 euros so I had 500 euros.
As I cheered on here, I came home within budget as I took home ONE CENT!!
Well, today I have just pulled on a pair of combats (a pair that I had left at home but had worn before my trip and OH had washed whilst I was away).... and I found ONE HUNDRED EUROS!!!!
So not only had I not spent it (cause I hadn't taken it with me) but I hadn't even missed it!!
So I came home from my holiday within budget by 100 euros and 1 cent.
:j
I would like to say that this money is going to be put toweards my debt but we have a wedding in Kos in June so it has been put in a pot so that we have some spending money. I am so happy.
Sorry, I know it is not strictly DDD related but it made me very happy.Mortgage: £0/£80,329.91

Evening all!
So in answer to some questions... It was £134 not £160..:-)).. The bottles are those HUGE ones that hairdressers use so about 2000ml or more but now I'm intrigued I will check when I get home..(lol)..
I like the idea of the 10% squares so I might print one in my diary for the year.. So they will be £121.50 or £1350 a month cause my sabbatical has been started on the 1st September and not October as expected... I need £12,000 but it balances better at £12,500 in 9 months.. Eek!
Yes the limbo continues.. I shall curb my spending although was caught short after being told lunch was free and it wasn't- cost me £5 at least.... Grrr!!
Anyway.. Out for dinner in a bit so I need to put some clothes on.... Apparently...“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent".0
