    happy birthday miss moggins :bdaycake:

Just made chicken wings and salad for tea and trying to tidy up before someone comes to view the house.

It goes in the local paper tomorrow but someone phoned the estae agents as soon as we put the board up.

DD has another exam tomorrow and once her last exam is over on Monday we are going to look for a dress for the leaver's ball.

DH has actually managed to fix the washing machine which was totally blocked up again last night so I am very pleased with him.

Feel as if there might be a thunderstorm in the air as it feels very unsettled.

Hugs to everyone especially Gingham ribbon and scuzz.

Here's something to think about. My mil has just been regaling us with the rather dramatic tale of OH's birth in 1962. It is a bit hair-raising so I'll spare you the details, but before events overtook her she had been planning a homebirth. She was given a list of things to have ready for the event. Amongst the towels, sheets, bed pans etc were '2 fish paste jars' She never did find out what they were for. OH reckons it was in case the midwife was shortsighted and she could use them as makeshift glasses :rotfl:  But does anyone have any idea what they might have been for ?-brand of paste wasn't specified but I think Shipphams was favoured.

V proud of myself right now. I went into town to get some meat from the butcher on the market, but he had just closed for the day. Instead of nipping into M&S to see what they had available, I came home and made a bung it all in rice thing, with a couple of sausages chopped up, some turkey breast, spices & veg - bit like a jambalaya I suppose, but cost nothing because it was all bits we already had. Tasted really nice. Quite spicy and certainly very filling. There are 3 adults and 2 children in our household and there is still a portion left for the freezer.

OH and kids have gone to the dentist. I suspect the children will be put on the list for braces. I hope they don't mind.....

    M&S can wait.............:D

Thriftlady - I had a home birth in 1963 (well, my son had the birth, I gave it) and fishpaste jars were the precise size, shape and material required for keeping a thermometer in mild disinfectant. This was absolute standard thermometer practice from as far back as I can remember - everywhere where your temperature was taken they kept the thermometer in a fishpaste jar, in the cloudy liquid, dettol I think, so they could pop it in the next mouth without cross infection. Why manufacture a special vessel, when Shipphams already did so ? Why two jars ? One for Mum, one for Baby, I guess. Classic recycling, eh ?

    Evening All

Kyle (((hugs))) for little one for tomorrow.

Well changed tact today, have written things down on a list when Ive done them rather than a long to do list and seems to have worked.

    Today I have done
    some paperwork
    cleaned oven and hob properly
    2 loads of washing done
hoovered whole house and washed kitchen floor
    loads of ironing done
    cleaned windowns in kitchen/hallway door
    cleared ironing mountain/pile.
made chocolate chip muffins (they disappeared v quickly)

So am feeling quite pleased with myself. ALso after dinner, took dog and kids for a really long walk along the sea wall and the tide was in and it was a lovely end of the day.

Just doing all the stuff on my pc as wont have it tomorrow when its the pc shop - having withdrawal symptons already!

A late post for me, & a brief one. This is the first time I've sat down today, the raspberry & white chocolate went down a real treat at work. I printed off a few of the meal plans from here & took them to work, ( I hope nobody minds) as I said I'm trying to help a workmate spend less & learn to cook. I found out today, that she's never even peeled a potato & she's over 40!!! Everyone at work was fascinated & I've past on the link to MSE to lots of people, unfortunately the person who want to learn to cook doesn't have a pc.
I still have loads to do, so better get on.
    Hugs to all

    Good Evening :hello:

well I have just managed to speak to one of my neighbours opposite and he has the telephone number for one of the relatives of the neighbour that I was a bit worried about. Anyway he is going to try to give him a ring and let him know that they have left the outside light on.

Apart from being a nosey neighbour :o , today I have made 2 batches of muffins - banana and chocolate chip and cherry :p I really hope to have some left over to freeze but its not looking too good so far. I have managed to do a bit of gardening before the rain came down. Got some bread in the bread maker just about to finish and got a load of washing dried which now needs ironing.

Must get DD to bed so good night all :)

Hi again! I just want to thank you all for your welcome back - it has really made coming home so much more enjoyable! I have had such a hectic day today just when I felt all lazy and could have done with a rest; I hope to spend more time on here tomorrow.

Happy Birthday, Anniversary, etc. to all those who are having one or had one whilst I was away, welcome to all newbies, hope everyone's loved ones are well and happy and I'm looking forward to catching up with everything. I've also really missed being old-style and couldn't wait to get the BM back on especially as I brought some lovely French bread flour back with me. I'm just going to open a bottle of some of their wine now so cheers to you all. Hope you have a great evening and will be back here tomorrow!

    Love
