You could argue that all you need to do is give them three attempts to fix the car before rejecting it! Might be a little harsh at this stage but I think you need to get their attention.

I would be suggesting to them that you will be contacting the manufacturer if it comes back un-repaired again and you will be looking in to rejecting the car.

Hmm think yourself lucky...I had a ford b-max from new "engine warning service NOW" lite on that a dozen or so times every time back to the dealer couldnt find anything in the end demanded someone did something (I took photos of the warning to prove!) they flashed the car with a new software update...and fingers crossed (till someone wrote it off last week) I didnt have the message again
Not quite a newbie as you think ;);) (the member formally known as philnicandamy!)

  • The great thing about a new car is that if you have the same issue, persistently, you can reject it, within reason.

I'd be livid. I'd give them one more chance and make it clear in writting that you will be rejecting the car if it happens again.

    What car is it (make/model/engine/etc)?
When is the light coming on - is it when you start the car, or when you are driving it?
What warning light is coming on? Does it look like any of these:

    1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
    2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
    3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?

Does it go out after a minute or so, or does it stay on while you're driving?

I have contacted them this morning. Someone is coming to take the car and leave me with a replacement. They insist its a "simple software" problem. But when pressed about if the car is safe to drive and would not break down with me and my children in it he could not give me a 100% guarantee.

    I am livid.

Stays on all the time. But after the third time I refuse to drive it.

My new car has now been taken away and I have been left with a replacement.

I have contacted Honda UK's MD and head of Customer services? Both have responded and are looking into my problem.
