My brain is frazzled lol so please excuse my double checking. I have read loads of posts :-)

The only difference we can see between the original windscreen ticket and the NTK is that the windscreen ticket states that my car is "Maroon" & the NTK say's it's "Red"

Also, I've written a letter to complain to Halfords via Facebook. Is it ok to admit to Halfords who was the driver of the Vehicle. I may have previously done so in the first instance when we rang them to complain

    Thx

Do not admit to Halfords that you were the driver - they may supply a copy of your letter to UKPC if they take up your complaint with them. By all means describe yourself as the customer but ensure you make no reference directly or indirectly to you being the driver.

As for the apparent change to the colour of your car it is simply the way in which the DVLA computer classifies colours. Your car could be scarlet or crimson too but it will all be classified as red, plain and simple. Besides, its all basically meaningless.
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016). :(

For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com
  • Thanks HO87.. Would this be ok as a letter of complaint to Halfords?

    Dear Sirs
I'm writing to you hoping that you will be able to help me? I previously rang your store at Riverside Park, Northampton on 28/11/13 (9.28am) and spoke to one of your employees with a concern I had over "Parking" at Riverside Park. (I have employees name as reference)
Basically I was questioning a UKPC Penalty Charge Notice on a car windscreen at "Riverside Park (Retail Park) in Northampton. The reason for the notice is "Not parked correctly within the markings of the bay or space"
The car was parked in an area that had no other cars in the near vicinity because access was needed to the back to doors to load a large item onto the back seats as the boot was full. Parking was free of charge for the first 2 hours.
The Customer went to Halfords and returned to the car in approx 10 mins to find the notice.
As you can imagine I was some what horrified that Halfords can allow such a notorious firm to harass customers on your behalf. I rang the store to speak to the manager who was unavailable and was advised by 1 of your employees to “ignore” the alleged fine and if I get any more problems I could ring the manager at a later date. (Employee as mentioned above)
Having received a “Notice To Keeper” letter from UKPC I rang Halfords again on Fri 27th Dec and I was told by the assistant manager that “It’s nothing to do us and we have no control over UKPC”. I now feel somewhat let down by Halfords who had given me some hope against the bullying and intimidating way that UKPC go about their business.
I have researched the matter and intend to escalate my challenge against UKPC to the independent stage (Parking on Private Land Appeals).
However, I would welcome your own view on this harassment and hope you see fit to ensure that UKPC cancel the 'ticket' forthwith.
My research about this matter has revealed that you have cancelled some of these tickets for genuine customers recently which has helped to restore my faith a little, albeit tempered with frustration. However, I am still shocked that Halfords are allowing such an aggressive agent to have free reign to intimidate customers for their own profit, at your (and your customers') own expense.

    Yours Faithfully

Is it worth mentioning the "Blue Badge" (see 1st post please)? Or should I just leave as is?
    Thanks

the blue badge is not relevant in your case here, neither is it a requirement on private land, as it only applies on the public roads and council car parks etc , so it is not of any relevance on private land and holds no sway apart from its an indicator that the person owning it may have a disability, if that person was present

your letter looks ok to me

I think you are being to mamby pamby with this, it's not a fine or penalty. And yes you outline that someone was disabled in the car. So tell them that you want this cancelled as they are in breach of the Equality Act 2010, they must make reasonable adjustments for this.

So remove I hopes and replace them with demands, be assertive about this, demand that they comply with the law and their obligations. Put anger in your letter and spell it out as a demand to cancel this, don't beat about the bush on it

If they say they can't help, you could show them that Homebase do help, on the same Retail Park site:

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4839501

That person reported theirs cancelled almost immediately.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I disagree, whilst a blue badge is not relevant on private land, the Equality Act applies everywhere, and this retailer must abide by it

agreed, but he asked about the BB he mentioned in post #1 , which isnt his and I do not believe the BB holder was present in this case so has no relevance as the BB in the car wasnt being "used"

but if the BB holder WAS present, then I apologise as clearly it would be relevant

if the Equality Act 2010 is relevant in the rest of his case, I didnt consider it as I was sidetracked by the BB issue

Okay my fault on that , if his father is not with him then the badge should not be used. But if he is also disabled as defined under the act then it can be used in the complaint. Still the letter is to soft in my opinion and should be changed to challenge this and hopefully cancelled by them.
