I had an absolutely lovely weekend, and I can assure you that it doesn't happen often !! :rotfl:

The girls were both at the same party Friday night. I dropped them off and then went on strike. I grabbed a camping chair from the garage, poured myself a teeny tiny glass of Pimms, dug out a magazine I had brought in April and not even had time to open. I sat on my own in silence in the garden and it was bliss. That is until the winds started getting up, the skys got angrier and the heavens opened ready for the spectacular thunder and lightening storms ! I decamped to just inside the the French doors as it got a bit creepy in the garden on my own :o and I am not embarrassed to say that I actually got a bit scared :rotfl:. I took photos and videos which I sent to Mr PG who is in beautiful sunny climes at the moment sending me photos of spectacular white sandy beaches , just to wind me up Im sure ! He pretended that he would rather be at home in the storms but I dont beleive him ! :)

Saturday we packed as DD1 left for her Music Tour on Sunday morning bright and early ! More of that one later though as on Saturday night we (DD1 and I ) spent the evening at a very well known super pricey restaurant in London at the Chefs Table :) . The meal was really and truly thanks to DD2 who sadly couldnt come with us, but a few weeks ago when it was just her and I , I promised her I would sit down for a whole two hours and give her my undivided attention. When I asked her what she would like to do in our mother and daughter bonding time she suggested entering competitions ( she always was a special child, once a upon a time when I promised her the same, she asked to go Pond Dipping as her treat:rotfl: !) Having no idea where to start I randomy made my way though Supermarket websites entering competitions whilst not really paying attention at all to what I was entering. A week or so ago a letter appeared confirming I had one this prize for 6 people, seven courses with cocktails and canapes for Saturday night. I was gutted that Mr PG wasn't around to share in the prize, but sadly they wouldnt allow me to change the date, so DD1 ( I didnt want her to miss out ) and I , along with some friends donned our gladrags and off we trundled. We had a fantastic night, stuffed ourselves silly with lobster and other yummy things and all we had to pay at the end was a portion of the wine bill. We had a tour of the kitchen and made an attempt at some cooking whilst we were there ! I was better at watching and taking photos than the cooking ! We finally rocked up indoors at 2am, not ideal as DD2 was leaving for Belgium two hours later. We decided to stay up all night rather than risk sleeping and missing her coach, so we turned the music up and had a Kitchen Disco to keep ourselves awake . How we managed it I will never know. I waved her off at 4.30am and crept back to my bed for a couple of hours before DD2 was dropped back home . DD2 sadly didn't get any sleep at all as the kids were all singing and playing their guitars all the way there so she had no chance at all of rest , but shes young and can cope , I on the other hand a far to old for such antics and by 6 oclock Sunday evening I was ready for bed. But ...... DD2 and I were then treated to dinner by a lovely friend who I had taken with me on Saturday night, so after drinking a few glasses of Prosecco ( new favourite tipple, I may need to change my name !) the weekend was over and I crashed out at 10pm last night.

All good fun, I just wish every weekend could be so enjoyable !

DD1 has arrived safe and sound and is having the time of her life. She is really pleased though, as the day after she arrives home, I have managed to acquire free tickets for a gig near us ( think it must have been the same night I entered this competition but I have no recollection of it ) . I must be having a lucky streak ( about time too I say !) I have given the tickets to her and she is taking a friend of hers and I will be chauffeur . That girl really is having the time of her life at the moment.

DD2 is permanently at the stables and is full of stories and photos and videos of the pony ! She has received lots of party invitations from her new friends .

Both girls are chilled and smiling what could be better ?

Our other problems which scottishspendaholic alludes to ( lovely to see you by the way !) are sadly ongoing and getting more difficult to contend with by the minute. I am not sure this will have a happy ending however hard I try , but I am trying to block it out and get on with everything else and I am determined that whatever rubbish is floating around in the background, we will all spend some time together and have fun in the bargain. I ruined the 12 days Mr PG was home recently as I was so so stressed by the other "Stuff" that we struggled to get along. It took until he day before he left to have a civil conversation and then he was gone again :( .Just goes to show the affect outside pressures have on families and relationships. I cant allow this to happen and I need to turn this around . I Just need Mr PG to head home from his travels again now !

I still haven't caught up on diaries , I'm sorry. I really hope you are all ok and thankyou all for posting over here, its lovely to "see" you all xx

Apart from the "other stuff" impacting on your time with DH, your post is truly lovely to read, thank you for sharing. I'm inspired to enter a batch of comps now, although I rarely win anything.
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?

Flying by very quickly to say that we are under £39 K now !!! :j:j

Also had a freebie bottle of Gin arrived on my doorstep this morning ! Yummy ! :D I don't actually drink gin as a rule ( only sloe gin ) but I'm sure I can be persuaded !

Also a quick question , can anyone recommend who the best company may be to insure DD2 with in relation to her Horse Riding please ? I have had a quick scout around but if there are any recommendations that would be great please ? xx

Is this a full loan, i.e. you're responsible for vet bills, or have the pony's owners got their own insurance to cover bills?

If it's a full loan, check out PetPlan Equine, KBIS and NFU (though the latter are getting quite expensive and possibly looking to exit the equine insurance market). If you just need cover for her as a rider, check the owner's policy, as it may cover anyone riding the pony with the owner's permission. If it doesn't, BHS Gold membership will cover you for third-party liability or I think PetPlan Equine does a rider-only policy which covers third-party and personal injury.

Do NOT, under any circumstances, touch E&L! They sometimes go by Equine and Leisure, sometimes by Entertainment and Leisure, but in the smallest bit of the small print they point out that their months are *lunar* months, i.e. 28 days, and so although their monthly premiums will look a bit cheaper than the rest, you're paying 13 times a year instead of 12. Plus vets hate dealing with them because they quibble over absolutely everything.
  • what a great run of luck on the competitions!!! Fab news :)

    Take care xx

Thankyou everyone for your advice re the Insurance for DD2, I really need ot get yself together and gtit sorted.

Caz the loan isn't a full loan, well I don't think so we don't have to pay vets bills etc. Its at the stable where she rides,so basically we pay a nominal; fee, she gets few lessons thrown in and can go and "work" as and when she wants. As long as the Pony isn't being used in lessons and an adult is there she can ride. I need insurance for DD2 really incase of injury thats the main thing that's concerning me.

Our free trial ends this week, so I will be going over all of the finer print wit the stables at the weekend.

Thankyou all so much for your advice xx
