Oh, good grief!
It sounds a serious case of 'does not compute'. Its like the computer (that, of course, is NEVER wrong) can't comprehend that you've overpaid. Its been programmed to expect £500 and £500 is all its prepared to accept.
Sounds like 'percussive maintenance' is required (i.e., beating the carp out of it).
Seriously - I really hope you manage to get it resolved. I remember some of Gargrave's letters - they had me in stitches how she'd blind them with facts.
Good luck0 -

Gargraves letters were fab. I did tell her she needed to publish a book of "Get Lost" letters for us all to steal snippets from.
Anyway mine is now written, its a polite one this time....for now at least ! xLBM July 2011 - Finally took control Nov 2011 DFD Sometime in the distant future !

Oh no to the tax idiots. We had a bill not as big as yours but a few grand anyway, one that should never have been ours anyway but that's another story! It was passed on to a DCA and we paid them, they were worse than the tax office if we were late paying!!! Several times out dmp was late paying them so they would send threatening letters every month. In the end it turned out they owed us money and the bill was written off. Again, idiots.
Hope you get it sorted!
I also hope DD is ok, my ds1 is totally stressed out and he's in the year below your DD. I dread to think what he will be like next year......! My friend was over on Monday and telling me her DD had been diagnosed with alopecia (sp?) through stressshe is 9 or 10  I was so shocked! My ds1 just gets angry and hates us all when he's stressed. I'm currently the worst mother in the world according to him. My skin grows thicker everytime I talk to him otherwise I might throttle him! Anyway back to your DD, I hope she does well today and soon enough the stress will be over with (until A levels start!) xx

I was sent a council tax bill on November 16 for a house I sold on October 1 - two days after I banked a refund on the overpaid portion. When I rang about it, the lady told me they'd done a sweep of unoccupied houses and imposed another levy. She then told me to complain - too right I did. No reply of course, but no further action (legal proceedings were threatened if non-payment in 10 days). What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?0

Grrrr to the pesky THEM. There's a couple of fantastic Latin words to describe them: PESTIS and FURCIFER ! ! !
I teach MFL, Mrs PG but have broadened out for 2 terms to do latin to y9, 8, 7, 6, 5! I had a y11 parents eve yesterday and it was good to be able to tell the parents that - in my subject at least - their child has done all the controlled assessment they need and we can now simply focus on the remaining 40% for May. I know the kiddies are happy to be all done and dusted. I do hope the Pastoral Care people really do their job. Ultimately, GCSEs are a step to the next stage and if dd needs to 'put less effort' into certain subjects, then she should do just that. There is a very big difference between GCSE and AS exams, so once the summer comes, she can use her time to potter on with her chosen subjects (what are they, by the way?) and broaden/deepen her knowledge of them without pressure to perform.
Is she staying at the same school? Changing school for 6th form can be hard work, as the teachers don't know you. But if that is needed, and is the best thing for her, then do it!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -

I think THEY are out to get us all DFW !
DD1 will be ok, just feel like I need to keep a very very close eye on her at the moment. We are lucky in that we dont bear the brunt of it , so is probably less stressful in that way than you are having to cope with with your DS, but I suppose stress manifests itself in different ways doesn't it ? Thats terrible to hear about your friends DD, I really hope she gets the help she needs poor little thing. I Can confirm , although having not met you that you are most definitely not the worst mother in the world DFW, not with the numerous conversations we have had about our eldest DD and DS's , you are far from it !
As far as A Levels go I Am hoping they wont be as stressful as this, but my words could come back to haunt me !LBM July 2011 - Finally took control Nov 2011 DFD Sometime in the distant future !

I have missed you too Piq ! Where were you today when I popped round for tea and cake ?! Were you still at the hairdressers ? :rotfl:
The letter has gone off to THEM special Delivery. I always follow up any phone calls to them in writing, just incase. They cant be trusted !
The debt is dwindling, but not quick enough. I have threatened to sell the house a few times over the last few months, just to get rid of it once and for all, but I cant quite bring myself to uproot everyone. Wow what a clever cookie you are !! I always fancied learning Latin, no idea why, but it always appealed. They dont teach it at the DD's school sadly. The language dept is prety shocking with a few exceptions of course. DD2 is doing great with Languages and is top set. DD1 didnt take it to GCSE, she had an Egyptian Teacher, whose first language was Spanish , but had been drafted in somewhere along the line to teach french, but kept getting the languages muddled and had married a man named Mr Smith !! Says it all really !
Sounds like the children and your school are benefitting from having a great teacher in you . DD1 took another English Controlled assesment today, is two hours into another of which she has another two hours left. She needs to sit a seven hour one during the Easter Holidays as she missed it when off school last November and its taken this long and alot of jumping up and down on my part for her to catch up on the work that she needs to take the assesment. She then has another English Assessment sometime before Easter, which is a resit , but DD1 has decided to do this by choice as the Assessment was sprung on her, she had been off during the planning again, last October / November time and she wants to improve her mark. This week she also had Science Mocks. Pastoral care have been ok, but not as good as I hoped all things considered, but DD is enjoying her yoga sessions. Other than that they asked her if she was over the death of her grandad two weeks after his funeral ! She was too shocked to even respond. We have a meeting tomorrow with the Deputy Head as I have a nice long list of things to discuss with him. She is in school until gone 5 every evening playing catch up ,then revising all evening and its taking its toll.
She wont be staying at school in the 6th form. She says "she would rather eat her left foot " She cant actually study what she wants to there anyway and I think she needs a fresh start and change of scenery. When shes feeling her best she is very sociable and outgoing , we live in a small town which I think is stifling her a tad. From September we will need to factor bus fares into our budget. that will take some juggling, but worthwhile juggling. She is planning to study English Lit, Sociology, Photography and Graphic Design . We have visited the college three times now and she loves it. We have chatted with lots of teachers and pupils and the Photography Teacher who interviewed her seemed really impressed with her portfolio. she was over the moon. She cant wait to get there and if I'm honest, I feel the same ! xLBM July 2011 - Finally took control Nov 2011 DFD Sometime in the distant future !
