Yes, I sincerely hope that some of the stronger posts calling the mum names are reconsidered. Really sorry to hear that, poor girl.

My thoughts exactly.....I was going to post yesterday but was so annoyed at some of the posts I wasn't sure I could be civil. It is a very sad outcome and possibly an unavoidable one but it would have been nice to think people did what they could to help.

I'm a person who can't walk past anyone who looks as if they need help, never have been able to and probably never will.

There are 3 experiences that really stick in my mind....

    1. a toddler had a fit on a bus - I was the only person on the bus who got up to help....I could hear people saying "don't get involved" and the mother was in absolute hysterics... I spoke to the driver and he drove the bus straight to the nearest hospital - which wasn't far away......they mustn't have many double decker buses driving up to the main entrance......so there was a welcoming committee. No one complained about their disrupted journey.

    2. a woman with a baby strapped in a shopping trolley with a toddler at our local Asda - just come out of the carpark....the trolley tipped over and was actually upside down with the baby in it.....she was hysterical and people walked past her .....unbelievable. (I think she was too frightened to right the trolley in case the baby had suffered some sort of head injury - he hadn't)

    3. an elderly lady fell just after she had crossed the zebra crossing going to our local shopping centre.....she couldn't get up......I wouldn't say people actually stepped over her.....but they certainly walked around her.

All I can say is I hope some of these people never need help from a member of the public and if they ever do that someone with a different attitude to their own comes along.
  • I'm so sorry Yvonne. Lots of sympathies to you and your friend.

Couldn't get to the end and not comment. What a horrible and sad end to the story. Lots of sympathy from me too.

    Hugs to all xx
