In all fairness, it could just as easily have been a hoax, because the type of people doing this sort of thing have no scruples when it comes to involving the kids in the scams.
I've seen plenty of those crime shows where the kids distract the staff so mum can shoplift etc.
Ps hope your flats ok!
Thank you, it is a bit soggy but much better than it might have been.0 -
I guess I'd never thought about the fact that someone might be wary because of being mugged, but that is actually a very good point, and that is of course a very valid reason as to why the woman might not have wanted to help? I really can't see any other reason? Surely no one can be that mean that they would help someone sick and in distress? But i know of course, these people do exist unfortunately.

Hope the little girl is now ok. What exactly was wrong with her OP?0 -
Your friend sounds like a nutter, who screams at someone for not getting a valuable item out of their bag? To be honest if 2 people came towards me and asked for me to get a valuable item (phone, ask for cash for something etc) I'd keep waking too. Unless the sick child is physically in front of my and mum doing what mums do with collapsed kids (putting kid in recovery position and monitoring breathing - anything but swearing like a looney really) I might consider it but there are so many weirdos out there I would t feel comfortable stopping away from a main thoroughfare, particularly if I'm outnumbered.
Where are you getting this story from that the two of us approached the woman????
1. My friend saw the woman and shouted over to her for assistance.
2. Neither my friend nor I went towards woman, I was trying to comfort her daughter.
3. None of us asked her to get anything valuable from her bag.
4. The woman never kept walking she actually came over and stood above the child and it's at that point when she saw the child she refused point blank to help.
So if you want to call my friend a nutter go ahead. It's better to regret something I did do than to regret something that I didn’t. :EasterBun0 -

No she doesnt sound like a nutter, she was panicking and distressed and was desperate. This is totally different to being a "nutter" really isnt it.
The woman might not have wanted to help for other reasons, maybe she didnt want to give her name etc.She could have outstanding things with the police.
At least the child did get some assistance in the end.0 -
Isn't it sad that we may feel unable to help someone because we are afraid it isn't genuine. I hope I am never in a situation where I feel like that, and I hope I would always trust those who are in need. But I also realise that not everyone is trustworthy - isn't it a horrible world sometimes.
Hope the little girl recovers safely.0 -

I'm not sure but she was shaking on the floor and her sick was Green then she passed out. She was so cold.

If anything like that ever happens again you are best off going into a shop or pub or service and asking for assistance. Members of the public can be hit and miss. Whereas if you went into a bank etc and asked them to call an ambulance then they would just do it.0

I hope your friends little girl is okay now. How awful that the first person you turned to for help, was so dismissive of the situation and refused to assist. You'd have to have a heart of stone to behave in that way. Who could leave people alone and not help when a child with them needs an ambulance!!! Shame on her is all I will say. Very glad though that you found someone else, who recognised the seriousness of the situation, assisted and offered moral support. The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.0

I would not have thought twice about helping someone in distress. Ideas of being mugged etc would not have entered my mind. If that's being naive, then I hope I remain naive for many years to come.
Hope the little one gets well soon, and glad you found a chap willing to help out.0
