Paying in Dollars via paypal, seller changes to Euros

Hopefully this is the right forum. Basically, I started up a paypal subscription to rent out some gaming servers that will be based in London from a company based in Sweden. On their sales page you could choose what currency to pay in. Choosing US Dollars meant I could make a saving and on the initial order, it was accepted fine.
I've just received this months bill and they have changed it to Euro's which has added on around £22 extra. Is this allowed?
Amount Due: $136.22
Due Date: 2013/11/01
Amount Due: €136.22
Due Date: 2013/12/01

Have you asked the Swedish company if they have just made a mistake?0 -
No not yet, wanted to get some solid facts before contacting them.0
-
Probably a technical error, if the subscriptions been setup it would go through in the same currency as was when it was setup0
-
It is a strange one. If the subscription is through Paypal then whatever currencies they offer on the sales page needs to be setup in their paypal account otherwise it will get converted to their paypal default currency which will show in the invoices.
so say they offer on their order pages USD, GBP, YEN, but their Paypal account is only set to Euros, then you will be allowed to chose USD, but the payment will actually be made in Euros.
It looks like their Paypal is set up only in Euros, and on their site they gave not set up currencies correctly with an auto updater, so all currencies are set up without any exchange rates, so all currencies display the same amount apart for the change of symbol. not a tech clitch, just the seller does not know his billing system0 -

I'm not sure how you know all that without knowing where it was bought from.
But it doesn't actually matter.
OP
When you took out hosting you agreed to buy hosting at X price in X currency. Do you have this in email?
From the original post you are saying they have changed the currency whilst keeping the same physical amount and that they have done so after accepting the amount and currency for the first month, is that right?
Check your original emails from your original order to see what they confirmed at the time. How long was the agreed minimum contracted term on the hosting? Do their terms and conditions cover their ability to make price changes mid term (which is fundamentally what they have done)?0 -

this will explain how it should be set up http://docs.whmcs.com/Currencies0 -
or may be you changed the currency from £/€ to $ on the webpage but because the conversion isn't/wasn't working the price didn't get changed now they found out they made an error let you off for the first month and may be seem to have corrected it for the rebill??
most of these online companies are a law onto themselves especially web hosting/vps/vpns etc they can go underground in 1 minute and you will never hear about them again. unless they are big company like hostgator/namecheap/godaddy etc either accept the new price or move to a new host0 -
earthstorm wrote: »simple as a web host for 11 years and using WHMCS, you set multi currencies, but you also have to make sure you chose auto currency update and set up a daily cron, so it auto updates daily with the exchange rates ( WHMCS use XE), but you also have to make sure that whichever currencies you set up that you also set the same currencies in whatever payment provider you use. If you dont ( especially Paypal) and only have a single currency set up in Paypal then it will convert the payment to the default PP currency and this is what the invoice shows. but for the OP
the only thing that has changed is the currency symbol, which means that the host has set up multi currency, but has not set up exchange rates, so they all are set at the rate of the default currency rate which means that the symbol will only change as the rates the same.
this will explain how it should be set up http://docs.whmcs.com/Currencies
My point was, you have no information on web address, company or anything - there is more than one solution in the market for the types of services - you can even do it manually should you so wish - you're assuming your setup is the same as the OP's retailer - in-fact all your posts in this thread are assumptive without proof.0 -

post #5 is no assumption, as that is how Paypal works when it comes to currencies0 -
earthstorm wrote: »mine is the most common reason why only the symbol changed, rather than changing the costs using exchange rates. a majority of hosts use WHMCS for its automation, yes knowing the host would pinpoint if this is the reason.

Plenty of assumption in post 5, some selected above. Anyway, lets stick to the facts which we have as this will help the OP in the best way possible.0
