I wouldn't use anything uninsured for that value. needs to be fully insured and trackable.

I think you are going to have to take the hit on postage, even though you were lied to, its a bit like returning an item to M&S that didn't meet the online description - they don't pay the costs of getting to the store/ post office.

Hi I suspect he took the hit to be honest, my only bug bear is that he new he was sending the wrong spec item from the questions my dh asked and he just wanted the sale, if it was only a few £ I wouldn't mind but £50:eek: out of pocket, as I said thats the risk with fleabay:o

What a pain :( I suppose all you can do is maybe appeal to the seller's better nature (if they have one) and explain how out of pocket their 'error' is going to make you. I'd email them and point this out, in the nicest way possible. Maybe even suggest splitting the difference, you'll still be out of pocket but it won't hurt as much!
I find it's always harder for people to say no if you're as nice and polite as possible :)

  • I have a quick question for the bakers amongst the elite please,
I have just found a Betty Crocker Devils Chocolate cake mix in my cupboard, i was going to make it up, but it says to add VEGETABLE oil, now i only have Crisp n Dry which is 100% RAPESEED oil..... will it be ok to use or what is the difference please?
will i be able to tell the difference with the results?

Rapeseed oil will work fine, it's flavourless so it won't affect the taste or compromise the texture :)

We used olive oil when the kids made them this week and they were fine.
I assume any kind of unflavoured oil would be fine?

Thank WW, but he has already agreed to pay the refund and original postage, which is what fleabay would award, don't like the idea of opening a dispute just wanted to see if my expectations were ott expecting the return postage too and new I would get an unbiased opinion here:)
I bought something £1000+ that didn't meet description but had to go thro' resolution centre. I wasn't prepared to pay the expensive return postage when it wasn't my fault so phoned ebay & spoke to them. They sent me a prepaid returns label. They make a lot of money from us, state you can buy with confidence so my reasoning was I'll stop using them. I'd speak to them you've nothing to lose. You should be able to find their no. on website or use saynoto0870. You'll need details of the item to hand. Good luck.

I bought some boots which although were marked as size 7 were more like a size 5, I could hardly get my feet in them

Seller agreed the return but refused to pay return postage, I opened it with ebay and they sent me a returns label :)

If you don't want to open a case you could perhaps contact ebay and ask them where you stand, after all you would not have bought the product if the seller had been truthful. £50 is a lot of money
