The Mad(ness) that is the Elite. He's gone, but was one of the best :A

  • Not sending flowers is not an option.

People have donated for funeral flowers, I am not about to spend other peoples money on something else.

When I first saw the suggestion of "MSE" instead of "Elite", I was a bit miffed and put out, because the suggestion for the collection came from people on this board, as did most of the donations. A couple of people from the coupons board have also very kindly donated, and they approached me to do so.

However, thinking about it, I do still like the original idea of "Elite", but I am also coming round to "MSE". I also quite liked the idea of "MAD", as I thought it would have made him chuckle, but I also think that shouldnt be done without his family's say so.

So, for now, we need to decide between "ELITE" and "MSE". My personal preference is for "Elite" but I will go with what the majority say.

I'm not going to post what I was originally going to, as the thoughts of where this could end up make me feel quite :( I have spent a lot of time this week doing this and I would rather not be made to feel like I have been wasting my time.

I totally agree QoC that money donated for a floral tribute should be used for that and whatever is leftover be sent to the hospice. I don't think many would argue with that and as most of that money has come from Elite members that is what has been decided and the decision adhered to.

Again, as most of that money has been raised by Elite members they should have the decision over the wording used. I personally like Elite or Mad. I fully understand that other people viewpoint may be different but this was Mads chosen posting place and several members supported him over recent difficult times.

Regarding various different viewpoints on the chosen JustGiving charity - Cancer Research. Some people have expressed a difference of opinion. The money has primarily been donated in memory of Madmuppet. But also for everyone that has lost a loved one to this terrible disease and if this money goes in small way to this end, Mad would be so proud and pleased.

I am aware that some people have chosen not to donate to either the JustGiving charity fund or the floral tribute. Which is fine.

But the way the Elite has come together in various different ways would have made Mad chuffed to bits :)

And just also to say that Mads family do know about his forum name :D

Afternoon just put TV on whilst having lunch and cannot believe it is 50years today since JFK was assasinated.I remember it as it it was yesterday and remember where I was and what I was doing like most people I would imagine.I was only 18years old and was most put out because my DH who was then my fiance was in the forces and had his weekend leave cancelled :( Looking back now I realise how young and silly and of course in love I was:A:A

Also was the day CS Lewis died . His death obviously overshadowed by JFK but what a great man he was too

I bought Celtic FC pyjamas for my son, DIL and grandson and wanted them personalised with Mummy, Daddy & Jack. They've put Jack's name on the lower leg of the pyjama bottoms!

    Hi frequent
Well, he's onto his second door :rotfl: I got a free 2nd hand solid wood one so should take him a year or so to get it into the condition of the other one :D he's not a happy puppy at this!
For the moment he's staying with me, I was told by both rescue and pound that he would more than likely be PTS (he really doesn't like men and went for one of them) and I'd rather put up with the chaos and mess than that happen to him.
He's learning new tricks and understands the word 'toilet' and runs to the kitchen door to be let out, the other dog just looks at me! He is still an attention hog but we compromise by having a duvet at my feet so he's close but not sitting on top of me.

Spirilingdown you are an absolute angel:AI putting you doggies first and not worrying how much it disrupts your life I remember all the pictures of the damage they did and how you so tried different things gates.doors etc to prevent this and never knew what you were coming home to:eek::eek:I often wondered how you and the dogs were doing so its so nice to see you back here:T:T
