Aren’t the finance company jointly liable with the now defunct Warmroof? It’s probably a good thing they’ve gone bust as a report from your surveyor will probably win the case as warmroof are not around to argue and delay matters.
I am still waiting for my roof to be repaired or replaced by GE Money and they are still charging interest on interest ..... I have also the House Insurance Legal insurance looking into compensation ..how long will all this take I want to sell my house to get out of all this debt.:(0 -
WARMROOF ....The saga still goes on I have the scaffolders banging around the roof as I write ---- GE Money have sent out various companies to so call survey the damage caused by Warmroof (proberly hoping to get a cheap option or get out of paying sorting it out). The last company sent was a firm called 'FOAMSEAL' has any one heard of them??? Not roofers as I sent in 3 roofers quotes stating the whole roof needed replacing and the foam taken out. GE Money said they would repair the roof (not what I was told) and the job would start 23rd August as water was getting into my electrics (only took over 2 years to think this was urgent!). I am very sceptical about the work going ahead but due to waiting this long something needs doing and they are paying. Personal I would prefer my money back and loan cancelled with the offer of a roof too... maybe I am asking too much it has also caused a lot of distress and I have been off work for 5 weeks.
GE Money have also told me they don't intend to pay the money back I had to fork out for the immediate temporary repairs in 2008 as they didn't authorise it I did ring them but was told they had not set my account up as it was on the buy now pay later deal. The insurance insisted at the time that they would not sort out the interior damage on the household insurance until it was sealed. So had to be done. My saving account nil cost £1500.
I am also sending in further repairs inside the house £850 plus paint and carpet cleaning but not sure if they will pay for them and also a couple of weeks ago I had a whole ceiling fall down due to the leaks which I paid to have fixed at a cost of £140 don't know if I will get that back.
Does anyone know if I can trust this company 'FOAMSEAL' and if the above is covered under section 75 or another section as I did not arrange the loan direct. GE Money have admitted that they are responsible under section 75 but don't know what I am entitled to claim for - does stress come into it and rain damaged mattress???0 -
Hello, I'm new to MSE, just digressing a bit, but hope this is the correct place for this. I took out a loan with GE money when almost having "The Warmroof System" installed in my house. Having heard of all the dangers of having the roof sprayed from several colleagues and friends. We decided to not to have it and wanted to cancel the whole order (having already paid the deposit of nearly 1000 pounds). Sadly they wouldn't let me saying that we had passed the cancellation period etc etc. Anyway the long and short of it was we ended up having a new roof and kingspan fitted instead. for the same price - we thought that was a good result considering.
However we did take out a loan from the representative to pay it back over 10 years (yes its still going), and at the time took out PPI too. The loan was provided by GE money and the insurance was from Pinnacale Insurance Plc. I sent my complaint to GE money who weren't interested and told me to contact Warmroof.
If they have gone into administration is there any point in sending my PPI claim to the address that GE money gave me for them? ( somewhere in Ringwood I think in Hampshire)0 -
Glad to find a post about Warmroof that seems to be still open!
I paid them over £4500 in 2008 (April) to spray their foam stuff all over the inside of my roof tiles. First an external team replaced a few loose or broken tiles, including a couple of ridge tiles, and re-flashed the chimney. Then came the spraying team! They made a hell of a mess and left a very lumpy and uneven foam covering, so I had a protracted dispute with them, but eventually they paid to dry-line the loft space to cover over their unsightly foam. I have no problems with the overall results, though I'm not convinced the foam actually holds any more heat in than the original felt did. I suspect I wasted my money.
The company guaranteed their work for 25 years, but it now appears that they went out of business about two years after doing my job - presumably too many other customers also had issues with their jobs and refused to pay up. I presume, therefore, that the guarantee is now worthless.
I started out earlier today looking for Warmroof's contact details so that I could ask them what the effect on my guarantee would be if I decided to install solar panels, but if I no longer have a guarantee I guess there's no problem!
Can anyone give me any definitive advice on who, if anyone, has taken over responsibility for Warmroof's guarantees?
Thanks!0 -

and have contacted them, asking if they are one and the same. GE money told me to contact them directly and if they are no longer trading to go to the Fin Serv Compensation scheme on 0800 678 1100.
