Has anyone used Warmroof systems, a friend of mind has them coming round later and forewarned is forearmed.

Its rigid foam insulation thats sprayed under your roof tiles.

  • Hi,

A company that does this type of insulation was featured on Watchdog several months ago, apparently this insulation can cause thousands of pounds worth of damage. I wouldn't touch it with a bargepole.

I looked into this and my grandpa swears by it.

Basically if you have it done it will seal the tiles and do all it promises - if however at some stage in the future you want to re tile/slate then the costs will be astronomic as you will have to buy all new tiles and the roof will be hard to strip.

I decided against - a reroof and kingspan seemed a better option. (but 4x the price)

  • Thanks Canucklehead

I knew it was a company that did this type of installation but i didn't realise it was the very same one the OP is asking about

Here is the direct link to the Warmroof report

    I wouldn't touch them with 2 bargepoles strapped together!!

I'm afraid that I find watchdog just too sanctimonious. I didn't watch it but I wonder how independent someone from the national association of roofing contractors would be - they have a vested interest in getting people to reroof not use products which delay reroofing for a few years.

I'm sure all the cases they publicised are valid but equally doubtless there are I presume many people - such as my grandpa - who were really pleased with the treatment.

It suits watchdog to present an epic battle of good versus evil rather than the shades of grey which would reflect a balanced picture.

Of course I chose to pay 4x more and not use warmroof or a similar system (that probably counts as 2 bargepoles!) but it might be ideal for some people. I just don't think warmroof and their ilk are crooks which is doubtless what watchdog painted them as.

Hi ppl ... know its old post but just some advice hope no one minds....

Anyways I had it done, it was about £2000, not after about a year I’ve got a leak coming through the attic window! When called warmroof (as they state 25 yrs guarantee) they said it’s not their problem as its coming from the sides of the VELUX window.... What can I do?

I’ve spent that money and now they not helping. Can I take them to court or take matters further?

Sorry once again, if in wrong section etc

    Kind Regards

The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything it's too late to stop reading it ....
  • if its coming from the sides of the velux window then there are flashing which can get damaged or not have been fitted properly check these first .if this is the case then your problem is as they say nothing to do with them
if you think peoples advice is helpfull please take the time to clicking the thank you button it gives great satisfaction
