I have been outside with secateurs, shears, trowel and mini fork. 4 gooseberry bushes - that produce NO fruit at all due to being munched by some critter every single year - have been trimmed back (to minimise scratching) and pulled up. Ha!!! I win!!! I'll offer them to a neighbour who might have more success with them and if they don't want them, I'll put them out on 01i0 or suchlike.I also attacked the triffid-jasmine and the passionate passionflower that has spread and fruited massively this year, and given the lavender such a severe haircut it'll be grumpy for months!Filthy hands and arms, filthy feet (I was wearing crocs) and rather a lot of scratches later, I stopped!Time for coffee and breakfast.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!2

Whopp de whoop, I'm going away tomorrow! And due to the paucity of early morning buses, DH is taking me to the train station for 6.15, so we only need to get up at 5.30. much nicer than getting a bus at 5.15...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!2

Twas a super smooth and easy journey. And thanks to the Málaga guru website, I got the train from the airport instead of forking out for a taxi.My Airbnb is lovely, just as it looks in the pictures. And liddle had what I needed to munch on.I decided to take myself on a stroll - head to the beach and turn right, keep going until the beach runs out. Then turn round and walk back. Four miles. Plenty.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!5

I've had a lovely day. A slow start then I took myself off for a 'stroll' into town - about 20+ mins away. I decided just to go and see the roman theatre, Alcazaba and Gibralfaro. There were queues to get in so I just looked down on the theatre (not as big as it looked on the pics!) and went up the side of the Alcazaba to a view point. But then I saw the signpost to the Gibralfaro and went along the pathway to the top entrance. Now, it's only 132m above sea level, but it felt like a lot more as the pathway was flippin steep! Then I walked back home for a much-needed lunch. In the afternoon I met up with stepdd1, her hubby, son, his parents and her best friend + child. We all went down to the beach where son in law practised sea swimming for his triathlon, having never done it before. It was very salty 🤣🤣🤣. Both boys got very wet playing on the shore edge. And it rained! But it was a fab time. They were planning to go out to eat, so I said I'd head home, as it's easier for them to find somewhere if they don't have to look for somewhere for me too. We'll probably all get together tomorrow and I might be acting as the official tour guide and translator, taking them to see the really old stuff - and actually going in. They're Canadian so don't have any old stuff locally!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!2

I think we have had the total annual rainfall for Málaga since I arrived! But it looks to be dry for the rest of my stay. Phew.We went to see the opening procession yesterday evening, which was fun. Noisy but fun.Today son in law needs to get his bike to the place. It was not possible to tell ubber we needed a bike space, so I told him about the train and arranged to go with. Then my alarm didn't go off and the first thing I knew was a call from him at the station. Eek! He reckoned I'd told him enough to be able to go by himself, but oh! the shame!!!Doesn't help that they've only got WiFi calls, so although he said he'd call if he needed to, I'm not sure how he'd do that outside the house... Hmmm, might be a job for dh to do, to sort out esims for themNST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!4

Watching the triathlon was such fun! The weather was perfect and we seemed to always have good vantage points. I almost shouted myself hoarse, cheering people on - they had their names on their tri suits, so so long as they didn't have a long name, I could read it in time to shout their name! The weather improved for the 2nd half of my visit and was lovely and hot. Spent several hours going round the Alcazaba and up to the Gibralfaro and inside with stepdd1 and gs and MIL (hers) who went round the massive cathedral instead of the Gibralfaro as she's not too much of a walker.I also was able to spend some time on the beach - I find it so relaxing. The journey home was smooth, but I'm still wrecked 2 days on from getting up at 3.15am for the flight. Ugh. At least we're all on half term.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!2

The liddle in Málaga had 95% choc, so that's what I was consuming. I get home and had some 85% yesterday and it tasted stupidly sweet!
