He has been doing the PA for some weddings and other stuff recently, and decided that he wanted the option to wear a bow tie if that was what the guests were wearing. Nothing to do with hoovering... which only happens if we have visitorsNST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!5

Pip mentioned last night about going to the Syl Fam emporium up in Lunnon town before they close for good next weekend. Fortunately, Pip doesn't go back to school until weds, so we're off adventurising later today. And dragging dh along too, bowtie or no bowtie...

Have a lovely time. I wonder if any of the Syl family wear bow ties? 😄2023: the year I get to buy a car4

Amazingly, we were there and back within 4 hours. The shop was so busy, so pip struggled with people every so often. But they had a wonderful time and spent their own money - even better! They were selling some of the scenes/displays and pip got one, which they are chuffed about!

Ooph. I'm fair worn out. I had a rotten dream about invigilating going horribly wrong just before I woke up. It took a while to shake off the lingering emotions. The real invigilating went fine. 8500 steps in 5 hours!Pip managed school but has hardly spoken a word since getting home, so they're also fair worn out too.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!3

I have done a fabulous gym workout this morning. I've been running through a set of 3 workouts repeatedly, building up to doing what it originally says as regards the number of rounds completed. I started on April 1st, doing 3 round of 20 secs work / 10 secs rest, adding a round each time I did that workout. Today I am up to 8 rounds (whoop!) and used much heavier weights than normal, conquering my fear of the barbell in the gym. Admittedly it was an empty barbell, but it still weighed 20 kilograms!I am also slowly conquering my fear/dislike/lack of understanding of spreadsheets. And storing them in various clouds. My most recent one is to keep track of my invigilating hours, so that I fill in my time sheet correctly.Proud apple here

I'm not surprised you're proud, that's two huge accomplishments in very different fields, good for you!2023: the year I get to buy a car4

Invigilating ... how much is the commitment? And the pay rates? And do you need any special skills? I have a local senior school and I'm wondering if it might be a side line to consider.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!2 -
Pay varies from 9.99 to 14 pounds. I had to do a proper application and interview. Then I got sent a Google form with dates and am/pm sessions, and I ticked the ones I was available (or wanting) to do. The exams officer then sent out a spreadsheet with people's times and sessions. I've not got all that I'm available for, as they have a team of 17 and are sharing out the work. Next academic year I might sign up elsewhere too.I know greent used to invigilate at 2 centres. You could look on the website of places you would like to work at. Or simply send a letter expressing your interest to the exams officer. It may be too late for this year, but centres may well still need people! Look on tes.com/jobs too.I'm in a fab centre with a wonderful EO and lovely pupils. There are definitely centres where the work will be a lot harder as the pupils will try to break the regulations and you have to be super vigilant and watching them like hawks...You'll not make your fortune, and it may not be worth doing it if you have to pay tax on it, but after 30 years of teaching, I'm looking forward to not having to spend my days off getting things ready for my days on 😎.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!2

Cue the music: 🎵🎵 Oh, what a night! Not filled with dancing, alas. Pip was in bed by 9, us by 9.30. At 9.45, neighbour starts banging intermittently with a hammer. At 11 I go and knock on the door and she then stops. 4.45am, pip comes through with really bad cramps and needs my help. I leave pip around 5.30. Poor DH has to be up at 5.45 for work, I get up around 7.30 and send emails to pip's school. They're not going anywhere fast!I'm supposed to have twilight CPD from 3.45-5.30 today. Yep, part timers are fully expected to attend all CPD with no extra pay for it. None of your pro rata fairness... But I will not be leaving pip on their own. Nope. No way. Just need to think how to phrase the email...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!1
