    A day off school yay!!!!
Dh took pip bouldering and he did some too. So they were both knackered 😂.
In the meantime, I went to the gym and did a workout plus a lot of stretching. The charity shop yielded nowt, but liddle had their 85% choc back in stock, so I nabbed a few bars. Somehow spent £30+ on not very much- that's not supposed to happen in liddle!
Pip had time for a snack then was back out to dance. First time since the summer. New venue. Lots of nerves. All went well, plus pip went back to a friend's house after. Dh collected them, thankfully. I'm struggling with the muggy weather and heat. Grrr.
I'm pottering on with knitting. What I thought were going to be simple Harry, Ron, Hermione, Draco and Luna knits are turning out to be more complicated. I've done 2 sets of bodies and am working on the 10 cloaks (which will then need attaching once the bodies are sewn up and stuffed and embroidered) and scarves.

Pip is having their hair cut any time now. This has sparked a flurry of tidying and some hoovering. I need a little lie down now!
But, by 'eck, we are so not ready for pip going to school tomorrow. Still only done 1/4 of the art hwk (due Tuesday). Blazer has been washed but needs refilling with pip's gubbins. Bag needs packing and filling with pip's bag gubbins.... Pip's hair needs dyeing to a school-acceptable colour. And, of course, pip isn't having one of the best days where they can get stuff done...
Tomorrow will be the first time in 30 years that I'm not working on a Monday. To celebrate, I'm taking pip to school, then visiting sains, my GP, and aiming to get lessons prepped for the coming half term. Livin' la vida loca, eh?

    It was wild!
Got pip to sch ok. Dropped in at reception to enquire re if kitchen had food for pip. Turns out, no. Cue a trip to icyland for smiling faces and a trip home for nuggets and a nip back to school with them. Followed by a shop in sainz for pip items £42(!!!) and a trot to the GP for 9.30.
Then the gym. Bliss. But hard work. Lots of breaks and heavy breathing.
Home. Wash. Finally start prep around 11.45.
2.30 had an online meet with pip's HOY which was fab.
Little bit more prep. Pick up pip. Home and relax. Feed pip. Pip overwhelmed and mini meltdown (if they can ever be called mini). Art work still 3/4 incomplete - that was the cause. Pip was so wanting to start well and keep on top of hwk. And now it's all booogered up.
Me, I'm ready for tomorrow. I think... Will need to do more prep on Weds or Thurs, but that's ok, I did nowt over the summer.

  • My Tues was a dream of a day! Every other Tues will be like that, which is lovely.
And I am now enjoying my third day of not going to work this week. Pip is at school. DH is out for a short while. I have been to the gym. And liddle. I have answered a few work emails (always worth at least looking at them on my days off). I have cleared up as much of the 1 1/2 bags of compost that some pesky critters destroyed and spread over the lawn in the night - and I have cleaned myself up afterwards. The Tour of Britain Live is on the box.
So it is time to look at my planning and finish it - just reception and y3/4 to do, but y3/4 has to wait until I'm at work to see if the files will play on the system there. So, just reception! Only 3 lessons. Animals. Great thing on linguascope that I'm basing it on. Once the planning is done, I'll not have to do too much during the next half term. B)
I managed to block my PIN while using the card reader. Sigh. Cora, the ever-so-helpful bot assistant has let me know that I can unlock it in a cash machine for the bank. Nearest branch is only 3+ miles away but I can go via there tomorrow on my way home from work. I had to limit the liddle shop to the £20 I had!

  • My Friday was not quite such a dream as Tues! We were all tired and fidgety.
Pip made it through not only the whole week doing every lesson, but also stayed after school to do some work, getting 2 pieces of hwk completed. Impressive. On Thurs every week and Fri every other week, there's a lesson that pip could easily miss if they need to sleep.
I've noticed invigilator jobs being advertised. This year I might only contact our ex-exams officer who moved to a big school that is only a bus journey away, as she knows me and my situation, and might have a few days of work for me over the year... A friend suggested noting down how far I am prepared to travel, is lunch included? Pay, obviously. Commitment required.
As regards my current job, with the changes brought in by the head, whereby at the end of the year, the y8s chose 2 from Fr, Sp and Latin, and only a very few chose French (they'd started French in Y7 and Sp in y8 so Far was doing much harder work . And I didn't play games all the time with them...), I can't see there being much of a gcse group next year. So, what I'm thinking is that the subject is on the decline and the end of the academic year might well be a very good time to remove myself...
I know that invigilating pay is not much, and the work is not regular. But I don't really care!!!
In other news, my PIN is still blocked cos the only cash machine was OOO. I'm glad I have another card for another bank.

  • I got my pin unblocked. Phew.
Had a v busy weekend (for us) and pip said this morning that they were already soooo tired. However, they did do a full day at school and are now fighting with the art hwk. They will win, but there may be a few tears and rude words along the way...
I finally went for an eye test, after cancelling it a few month ago as it was just too much to do that day. I need new specs and was helped by a fab assistant to choose some ones I like. The cost is painful. £318. Eye test, 2 pairs of specific varifocals, 1 pair coated with antiglare.
However I did return pip's unused mouthguard to sp0rtsd1rect as they'll not need one this year. So, a whopping £10 credit to offset the spend :D It might pay for a nosepad. Just one, mind you...
I went out and about on the bus today which did me good. Dh gave me a little talk about how we used to plan our journeys carefully so as to get there and back within the hour and thus only use 1 fare. (he now has his old man free pass and pip also goes free, so I'm the only one paying). Bless him (apple mutters through gritted teeth...) I had to go into town (about a 40 min journey), do a few bits, have my eye test which takes about 45 mins, get a bus back to the gym, get a bus home. Now, all that just wasn't going to happen in 60 mins...
