Back in school today (on my day off) to help set up gcse listening. I know I'll be paid a peanut or two for it, but I've just had enough of giving up my time for that place.

No word yet from interview school. I emailed a couple of hours ago and they're still working out who they want. Either it's a tough tricky decision, or they're working out how to reject us all and re-advertise...😂.

If I don't get it, I'll plan to stay where I am for one more year. Cos I have to resign by the end of May if I don't want to return in September.

I've looked a little into invigilator-ing. Nowhere near the pay I currently get, but it is literally money for nothing!!!!

Lovely lunch with friends today, who got all my misery. Poor them! They are very good friends, fortunately.

Pip was not at school today. They came down around 5.45 and are picking out a Matilda tune on the piano. I'm very grateful for our piano!!! Hopefully, having not been in today, they'll manage Thurs and Fri...

Still no news re job. In the meantime, I'm enjoying bringing some semblance of order to my messy filing at work, whether that's for my benefit next year, or for for someone else, I don't mind. It's therapeutic 😎.

I have been offered another marking contract. A different exam board. A different language. Smug face is on. Best check when their exam date is, as I booked the ferry to Guernsey last night...

Whereabouts on Guernsey are you heading?  I spent 2 weeks on that there island every summer until I was ten, when my parents decided they didn't want us to go with them anymore.

I believe we're staying in St Peter Port (big sis + bil going, but only me from the apple household this time) but have 4 native cousins living there, so I think we'll be going everywhere!!!! I learned to swim in the sea off Guernsey 🏊 aged about 8. I think I've also been to sark. Or Alderney. Or herm...!!!!! Maybe.... But defo not Jersey.

I'm only going for a few days as it's slap bang in the midst of a marking contract (which I'm a team leader for, so I'll need a fully loaded and functioning dongle to keep in touch with my teamy weamy) but that's motivation to try and get an absolute shedload done early on.... Also only a few days as pip isn't coming along and dh is still working.

Hopefully it won't be my last visit. I'll let you know and you can come along too f0xh0les 😎. Oooh, your name comes up automatically now after the f0 . My tablet loves you....!

Hope you have a fab time.  We were further  up in the North, so St Sampsons /Vale castle /Bordeaux and L'Ancresse I have walked for miles around.  Love it around Moulin Huet,  I really need to take the family over at some point, now that I am not tied to s/g.   We only really went to St Peter Port to catch the ferry, or head to Herm. 

The smell of the fish market was something else though. All those lanes!

I finally heard that I didn't get the job. Not too bothered, really. I left the place with a funny feeling that I couldn't quite quantify, like a disquiet. Anyhow, they decided in favour of someone else. And I do still have a job 😁. And a year to plan my escape. Or decide to stay longer.

Never underestimate the 'Spidey-sense',  if you get a tingle, listen to the tingle.

I volunteer with someone who is perfectly pleasant, but sets my axe-murderer-alarm off so badly, I can't put my finger on it, she is under 5 feet tall, and tiny, but there is something so wrong there that I would not even offer her a lift if her head was falling off.

Plus there is nothing wrong with keeping your interview technique up to date.  It is their loss.

I'm on half term. Yay. 10 days off.

I did more sorting and filing today. Because I have to leave it all packed away every time I leave the room or it is used by someone else, I'm not taking on sorting too much at a time. And those little chunks will make a big difference. Now that I know I'm doing it for myself, it feels even better.

Pip's school fair flyer is out- you have to prebook a ticket to get in. £5. Each. Why???? We'll not be going! Unless I'm invited to have a table. But not sure even then...

So, to clarify in my mind:

.continue in current job next year, but down from 3 to 2 days per week (still not known how they plan to spread me out...) from September.

.marking 2 components for one board

.marking 1 component for another board

.just the one school fair (mine) this summer

.will look into invigilator-ing

.will look into taking my pension early (yes, I'll get less, but hopefully for longer, and given all the longevity in my genes, it might be worth it...)

Yay to Guernsey, yay to 10 days off!  Sorry you didn't get the job, but stepping back to re-assess is no bad thing.  Nor is longevity in the genes
