I've been keeping away from the news today. You'd think nowt else was happening in the world...Two trips to liddle today- I found some toe-enclosed sandals for dd and me but there was a choice of 3 colours for her (only 1possible size for me left, so I nabbed that one!) . I got her the one she said to get, after sending a lot of photos!, But turns out the sizing was far too big, so we nipped back to exchange them and she got to physically see and choose ones she liked. Also picked up a few 20p and 70p reduced items 😎.We started the ball rolling re kitchen alterations, which feels really good.Did an hour of crafting and chatting online with friends.Watched one of the women's six Nations matches.Apart from liddle (twice) and the compost bin (once), it has been lovely to be able to just stay indoors. I'm very glad I did garden stuff recently, so I didn't have to do more today.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!1

That sounds a nice day! Very odd about the tv channels - great respect and all that, but yesterday it was all four main bbc channels? Even today, quite a few. Bit of miscalculation there, methinks. Like you, I did my own thing (bit of Salvage Hunters, and a recorded copy of Staged, which I find *so* funny).2023: the year I get to buy a car1

Grateful for ip1ayer and being able to watch the women's six Nations rugby matches.Got 3 bed sheets dried on the line. And 2 laundry loads hung up inside.Took dd to meet a friend and had a good solo afternoon walk around the park as well as some time reading my French book (the one I'll have to teach soon - Elise ou la vraie vie, anyone? Franco-Algerian war???)Then also had a wonderful evening walk with a very good friend.Ordered all the kit for a slackline - solo exciting!!!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!2

Coo! French teaching has changed too much since my day, but when I stayed near Marseille to do my au pair thing, my language class was full of Algerians over for the work, used to be called guest workers. They were horrified at the rates of pay I was enduring, wanted me to quit and go do their thing, they were great2023: the year I get to buy a car1

*delurks*
Not sure if you use Snapchat but Le Monde have just started doing a short (5 mins) weekly science programme on there called 'science infuse' quite amusing, might appeal to teenagers.
I have just bought the French version of Mort by Terry Pratchett so am going to read that side by side with the English version to see if I can understand any of it...

Unfortunately, karma, several of the A level texts are the same as I did in 1986. Obviously, nowt new that is worthy of study has been written since then! When I was at uni, I deliberately veered away from any lit modules after the first year (where they were compulsory) so I do rather feel on the back foot now that I have to teach it. And the book was chosen by my colleague, not me. Now, if we could do Tintin or Asterix, I'd be the resident expert...Hiya Darpett (you autocorrect to carpet...!!) Thanks for delurking!!! I'm not a Snapchat user, but I bet the kids are, so I'll let them know about that. Thank youuuuuu!I have joined the masses and no, not queued outside pr1mark at 7am, I have been to the gym. 🏋️ Smug face is on 😎. It was the fullest I have ever seen it. Got my stuff done though - no stopping me! Had to use the 12k kettle bell as the 8k one has gone on holiday, so it was tougher than planned. But all good. And it snowed. Heavily. The gym area is super high so always gets the inclement weather first. It was wonderful to watch it blizzarding down. I simply adore snow. And on the way out, I said 'Happy new year and happy Easter' to the chap on the desk, who laughed and responded with 'Happy Christmas too, just in case!' 😆NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!4

Spent the afternoon at a friend's house, sat around their firepit and chatting. It was lovely! And I smell of bonfire!

Ooh - which texts did you study for A level? I did Le Misanthrope, Le Blé en Herbe - and something else which escapes me right now...🤦♀️ so long ago!

We did La Peste and Boule de Suif, annoyingly, my friend at another school did The Little Prince. I was properly envious of that.
