Oooh, that workout is making itself felt now...
Dd did her own shoe-hunting when she got home and found some Hell0 Kitty ones! Just need dh to buy them as I don't have a paypal account.
I made pea and spinach soup, which will do 4 work lunches - froze 1 as it'll have to last til Monday. Also made a chicken curry - without using a jar. Result! That'll do us another meal when I'm in late or dh has to rush out. All this created a lot of washing up! Which I also tackled.
I have been pondering life recently, although it wouldn't translate to the written page and would probably sound rather maudlin! And it wasn't that sort of pondering at all. I'm trying to see where I create waste - electricity, water, food - and what steps I can take to reduce that. For example, I bought yummy red pepper hummous yesterday, which I could bulk out by whizzing it with a tin of black eye beans or suchlike. Or, if I use the veg soon after it is delivered, then more of the outer bits - stalk, leaves - are usable, even if only in my soups.
However, on a completely different note, I return to work tomorrow and have been battling to relax my shoulders and keep the stress goblin away! It is quantifiable: 1) do the bloomin paperwork for the kids written assessments; 2) do the bloomin paperwork and CD for their speaking assessments; 3) start moderating for the exam board as soon as the 'portal opens' (Love that idea - like a Stargate!!); 4) follow my plan for the exam year kiddies... Enough!
I shall aim to complete 1) and 2) by the end of Friday this week, leaving me free to do 3) as and when that portal deigns to budge.
My lovely neighbour - whose dd had that awful fall, and who does much of my current childcare - finally returns to work at the end of the month. She'll work 1 day one week, and 3 the next, plus weekends. So a little planning will be required as which days she works may change!
Dd is STILL AWAKE. Gotta go and settle her. Grump alert!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
I kept the stress goblin at bay by only having 4 things on my to do list at work: teach (i know, rather obvious! But twas a full day's worth); see x about y; arrange for z to do a resit; get the task sheets properly formatted. As befits my logic, I started with 2, then did 1, with 3 sorted and 4 throughout the day.
So, nearly done today's list, as 4 was dependent on 3 finishing and I have yet to mark it. Then the writing assessment paperwork might just be finished...
When I got home, I found that dd was out with lovely neighbour and her dd, at the playground. Taking the opportunity, I did an intense 10 min workout: as many times through 10 burpee with handstand, plus 5 ninja tuck jump, plus 10 squat with side kick. Got through it 3 times. :T Those handstands are right pesky!
Tomorrow's list will be:1) finish the paperwork! And get it packaged up ready to go. 2) start on the speaking paperwork. 3) teach. 4) attend the y7 parents' evening (5-7pm). 5) go into nearby town to visit Halifacks and close account in between end of school and start of eve. 6) no workout. Oooh - 6 items may be too many...!
Need to take extra food for me tomorrow, and pack dd a packed tea as well, as dh will only get home well past her teatime.
Anyhow, time to persuade dd to get into bed and go to sleep.

Final parents evening of the year done.
Most of the gcse paperwork done.
Paper bought for £5 off in aldee. Tho now you have to spend £45 not £40. Grrr.
Closed a dormant account, expecting £57 and came away with ... £1058! Not bad! Then splurged on 4 Dora books, a tin opener and hair dye - a grand total of £6.
What to do with the rest is the question now.... Expecting £57, I was going to put it into savings. But an extra £1k...? Will mull it over for a while.
No specific exercise, but about 13000 steps done. And good eating :T.
Dd is worn out already, poor mite. I left her in tears this morning - partly super tired, partly because she knew I'd not be home til her bedtime. She has a pretty busy weekend ahead too.
My brain is addled now, so I'm off to bed to read a book and unwind.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Today I probably should:
- finish assessment paperasse - HMMM, SEEM TO BE MISSING A BIT...
- burn CD -NEARLY THERE...
- check out russian and italian paperwork for the orals - SORT OF DONE
- teach - again! - ONGOING
- go through governor emails and reply where nec - DONE
- look at my cheque and feel smug - DONE SEVERAL TIMES!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
It's Saturday andI don't think we're going anywhere!
dd is still in jamas and I only got dressed after a workout - another ZWOW, this time twas #20 as it didn't look to hard. Ha! Wrong!
3x
20 side jump lunge
10 burpee with low fore and back and up jumps
10 each Bulgarian split squat jump
10 alternating leg bridge (1 leg bridge and crab)
It took me 17mins and 16 secs. But I'm not sure I did the last exercise right... WhetherI did it right or not, I was so red-faced and sweaty at the end!
The washing machine kind of stopped working this morning and my dear dh has sorted it out already! A bra metal bit had got nearly to the filter...
And he's also sorted the under sink cupboard where all the cleaning stuff is kept. He's on a roll, tho I suspect he'll collapse soon enough...
I paid in my cheque yesterday, tho it's not yet registered in the account. And dh has been paid and my pay is also provisionally in, for Monday. Feeling flush!
Well, where did that morning go! Must go and do something useful... That workout has rather wiped me out so I'm hoping lunch will recharge the batteries.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
After a quick chat with dh, I am going to use my smug cheque money for my pension. I need to do some research, but I do think paying it in now will pay dividends in 20 or so years' time. I've been part time more than full time, so need to try to do some catching up while I can.
Another NSD claimed. Another wash successfully done without breaking the machine this time. Another 3 hearts knitted but need their backing and decoration, so not yet worthy of being counted in the total.
Talking of which, the original 100 day deadline was a fuzzy 27th May. My sig currently says I've done 64, but I know I've not added in April's. So I must tip everything out and count again!
I've had a few days off knitting, and want to see how near - or far from - the 100 I am before deciding what to do in May. Another 31? Or 10 larger items? Or 4 huge things? Much of may's spare time is allocated to exam board marking, so I guess it would be wiser to keep knitting plans low key and attainable. 4 small items...?!
I have just over £150 left in my account, so I've not dipped into the £400 I paid out by mistake a month ago. Phew! However, I shan't be applying the 'pay over/off what you plan and live off the rest as per your budget' approach next month. Ooooh no! In May I shall apply the 'let's see if you can still have £x left on the 31st' approach. The amount will obviously depend on outgoings (at least I've realised that nugget of truth!) and the birthdays listed below. And half term.
Dd currently has 2 parties - on the same day - in May, and it's dsd's bday, and mine too. Then my dad and sister and two close friends all have birthdays within 4 days of each other at the start of June. Hmmm. Need to get my thinking cap on!
Enough wittering for tonight. Am sitting on my bed with a view to helping dd get to sleep in her room - last night was very teary indeed, and this is a simpler way to deal with it all. So am off to mooch round mse!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
oooh - what a result re the dormant account!! pension seems like a good idea, especially as it was total bonus money so you had no plans at all for it as you didn't know it existed!I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £200

Thank you! I still smirk when I remember the clerk telling me the amount! It'll be nice to benefit from it when I've forgotten about it all over again!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Knitting cogitations have had results!
A jumper for dd has been started.
The /100 total has been counted up and my sig updated.
So May will involve
- finishing all those unfinished bits languishing in 'that' bag and tieing up loose ends. Literally! This may take me to the 100 target...
- getting a good start on the jumper
- making some clothes for dd's dolls
- sewing??? Ha ha! Already planning new stuff?!!!? Daft ha'peth!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Another NSD :j . Won't make the target number, but should get 1 more on Weds.
Had an enjoyable day at work with the kiddies. I do work with a great bunch of pupils!
Tomorrow is food shop day and I shall try to get to £45 in aldee without buying any unnecessaries. I'll need to keep a running total as I go round with the list but if I'm well under 45, I'll just take the 50p the paper cost on the chin!
Dd has a headful of worries whizzing round. The only way to help her is to listen and pray with her. She is SUCH a thinker! After just one day back this week, she is absolutely worn out. This translates into naughtiness and disobedience and, ultimately, in tears. Her's, not mine, may I add!!
I've joined the thread set up by fmess, about getting fitter and trimmer. Gives us all a chance to witter on about food and exercise and goals for May.
Tomorrow I hope to:
- do a toughie workout
- do food shopping
- do MOLS
- change the bed
- do a colours wash
- wash up
- make soup - pea and spinach
- make curry for tea
- make hummous
- wash up again!
- tidy up a tad
- knit 12 rows of the jumper
Enough for now!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0
