A quiet day for me today. Dh took dd to church and I did an essentials shop - limited very much by being on foot - , the washing, made biscuits for dd, cut out myriad owls.
Said owls have mostly had their eyes sewn on and their thread colours chosen.
Dh put a timer on my phone - like a gymboss but much cheaper - so I obviously had to try it out. 50 secs of work + 10 secs of rest x10. I managed 96 burpees without press ups. Dd then had a go, and did 160! Don't think I'll ever manage that amount...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Brrr. Finally, a proper cold start. Dh left the bathroom window open - it's a big'un - so that woke me up pdq! But to make up for that shock, the downstairs loo loo roll holder sits over the radiator, so the luxury of heated toilet paper was all mine...
Noticed a pattern for knitted socks yesterday that doesn't look like the normal mega-complicated ones I see. I'd been contemplating buying socks for family, so may see if I can make them instead. Best see how long they'll take as I still have several craft projects on the go... But the money it would save... massive incentive...
( current projects to finish: edging blanket for newborn; finishing 1 and making another stocking for dd's friend's cats; making bunting for another newborn + meeting up with mum; owls for craft fairs)
And our downstairs is such a mess. You'd think that with all the clearing at dad's, then I'd apply a little of that zeal at home too... No room for Christmas at the mo, and Dec 1st arrives soon. Eek. I have already suggested to dd that we don't get the cmas decs box down until after we get back from gma's at the weekend.
Today I am grateful for proper cold (love it!), for central heating that works, for craft ideas and supplies, for my loving dh and dd, for morning peace and quiet.
Best shake a (warm) tail feather and get prepared for that work malarkey...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
I love the proper cold too, maybe it's the northern in me but the world finally feels normal again
The knitting of socks sounds like a glorious idea. I would love to be able to make them as well but goodness knows I don't have the nimble fingers for it - let us know how you get on!
So glad to hear the fayre went well! What excellent news.
So sorry I've been awol for ages, but am so glad to hear life is slowly settling down and happy, crafty things are happeningxx

Found an even better sock pattern. No knitting in the round, or using DPNs. Just straight, normal knitting with normal needles. Can't wait to try it out! And here is the linkie:

Dd has informed me that she wants, nay needs, three of my small owls for the brownie leaders next week. She-who-must-be-obeyed shall be duly obeyed...
The blanket edging is completed; the embroidered names on the stockings are completed. Tomorrow involves school runs, dropping 1, if not 2, bags at the sally army, a £1 coffee with dh in sbux, seeking warm socks for dd from aldee ski section, washing galore and crafting.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
2 bags dropped off and 2 more nearly ready. Absolutely nowt bought from the ch shops, for once.
I did actually buy some NEW stuff from sainz, using the 25% off. Dd needed tights both for school and general wear, got me some nix so I can bin some tatty ones, a teacher present, sox for big sis, cmas tights for dd. Spent £24, saved £8. Enough frivolity!
Dh is seeing his ds for brunch on fri, which has spurred us on to get all the gifts for the grown up kiddies arranged, so that dss + gf can take them out with them to Canada.
I haven't started on the easy peasy socks yet as the owls - of which I have 10 partially made ones - have needed seeing to. I keep thinking of new colours to do and have to stop myself reaching for the scissors to cut more out. (Tho a couple of red ones would be awesome...!)
Dh will be home soon so best look like I've been doing 'something useful'. Like making tea...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
So, how does nov compare with the plan?
Long walks + runs + workouts = 12/13
No sugar days = 13/20 (posted elsewhere that I had 19 but was muddling up with my no spend days. Both nsds, you see...)
No spend days = 20
Bags to Sally Army 4/4
Headspace 13/20 (oops)
Shoulder exercises 10/20 (double oops)
Visits to mum 2/2
December arrives tomorrow, so I am signed up for the NST challenge. Dec has to be super tight - our income is now the amount we used to overpay on the mortgage!. We are being frugal and cmas should be mega quiet. Must find lots of freebies or cheapies to do with dd.
I shall go in to work on 7 days; therefore I shall not go in to work on 24 days.
Currently, I am visiting mum this weekend with dh and dd. Therefore I would expect to go 2 weeks later, possibly twice more this month. But mum is going to stay with big sis for Cmas, so I don't yet know how that will change things. Any opportunity to work on dad's house is to be welcomed, especially as we may need to sell it before being able to get mum in to care. Eek.
Enough wittering on. Time to get dd to bed and my head around going to work tomorrow.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Our journey to mum's can only be described one way: blessed. Every mway was clear and flowing, even the threatened 1 hour and 15 min delay signs were just teasing us.
Big sis has escaped to sleep elsewhere; dh and dd are in the flat; I am at mum's. Wonder what she'll say when she discovers me here tomorrow instead of big sis...
Mum will be out for several hours tomorrow daytime, so we hope to make progress on dad's house. Dh is allocated to clearing out all the bags of rubbish/recyc I filled last time, plus the ch shop stuff (so long as our car behaves - it started making an odd noise on the way up). Big sis has the pantry + mum's rooms upstairs to sort through for keeping things. I have the garages of doom - an allocation that made me bring a complete change of clothes instead of the usual minimal amount, as I expect to get absolutely mingingly filthy. Dd has the toughest job - keeping warm and entertaining herself.
Once the sun has gone, we'll retun to mum's and spend the evening with her.
We haven't thought about sunday yet...
Let's see how it pans out...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Good luck with the weekend clearingMade it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
