Dd managed school on Mon, but not today. She has a rotten cough and was both pale and flushed at the same time! Ca1po1 is helping tremendously and she is enjoying playing in between coughs and a dripping nose!

Having her here has scuppered my shopping plans! She's in no fit state to go out anywhere, despite being dressed in her cossie and playing underwater scenes with a yoga mat and mermaids. So we've no more g-f bread, no juice, no eggs, no apples. Dd has consented for me to make rolls for her and she munched a couple for lunch. Once they are cold she tends to go off them, so must pop in microwave for 10 secs before offering them again!

Have got dh buying a few bits on his way home; it's just a tricky day as I have to rush out to a parent/options evening as soon as he is through the door, so can't do an evening shop either. Will have to somehow fit it in tomorrow... And can't really claim today as an NSD...!

Nowt much mse going on, though I guess NOT spending money's quite a good one. And making rolls for dd. And knitting. And keeping the heating off in the day. Actually, not bad!

Dd still rather poorly, coghing, sneezing, getting through a load of tissues with her drippy nose. Poor thing. She slept in with us last night, which makes for a lack of duvet for the big people (she sleeps on top)and cramped sleeping!:D But at least she sleeps better.

We both woke up when dh went to work - 6.20am - which was a bit early for a poorly one.

Anyhow, we'll be going out later as it's dd's follow-up hospital appointment. Im keeping her off school beforehand and doubt she'll be going in after either.

But I need to do a food shop!!! So we'll have to do Ald1 on our way home.

Dd wants the tablet now to playon, so I'll surrender it for a while...

Thanks tootoo. It's rare for her to need time off school, and rare for her to need to sleep in with us.

We've done the hosp trip. Consultant is pleased with growth and weight gain. He very kindly gave us a new prescription for iron syrup, as they changed the old recipe and made it banana flavour instead of mint. Dd gags on banana-y stuff so it was useless! And we now have a 3 month supply :j.

We also have a referral to see the paediatric dietician at some point.

I took food and drinks to the hosp, so we nabbed a nice seat and munched whilst the chemist did whatever chemists do behind the scenes.

The weather had turned very wet and windy by the time we left the hospital so we were grateful a bus came immediately. Got off to do the Ald1 shop, which should cover us til next Tues. Dd did v well in the blustery conditions, and didn't get blown away. But I'm still dosing her up in the hope that tomorrow she can do a whole day. Fingers crossed...

  • Glad to hear your DD is doing well (& hope the cold makes a swift exit!). I had to laugh at the yoga mat & mermaids, sounds like fun!

I never got to see a shred of the rugby last weekend, hoping for better luck this time around ;)

Dd is on the mend. Still producing enough snot to sink a ship, but she did all day at school and then a quick jaunt to a friend's bday. She's soooo phlegmy but since I'm like that too, it doesn't worry me as much as dry coughs do.

I had a great day at work, with the added incentive to leave on time for dd. Dh is out at the pub with a friend so I turned off the heating! I got 7 or 8 hearts knitted (need 2 for a completed heart) which was satisfying. I'm applying the mantra of 'even if it's just 2 rows, that's 2 rows nearer finishing one'.

Dh did the morning school run, so I had a lovely 75 mins to myself before leaving for work! I could wake up later, but I enjoy the peace and quiet and lack of responsibility.

Clocked up another NSD - 3 now, plus grain and sugar free at 6/6. Have dug out some hm savoury bites from the freezer and put 3 with a pot of tom sauce (hm!) as part of lunch. I think I've said before that I like to have plenty of food for work! I can always bring it home...

Must have a chat with dh about valentine's day. Don't want chocs! Or undies! But he can cook me steak with mushrooms and cream and home made chips!

Can hear the front door. Time to snuggle down and pretend I'm fast asleep...!:rotfl:

Yup, it's the knit equivalent of Tilly-tidies, the little-and-often method for getting the job done!

That's weird, we had the same chat last night ... it's our anniversary on the 13th too but we've decided to ignore it as it's a school night and have a special dinner in half term instead and I'll cook something for V. Day. Sounds like your Valentine's menu is pretty well sorted there, let's hope your chef is willing!

It was obvious I wasn't really asleep last night! And the chef thinks it's a good idea! We already have fizzy in, and chocs, so I'll just add a few bits to the weekly shop and voilà! Sorted!

Another mega full day at work. people are ill, so we have to cover them. Don't mind as people do it for me when nec. But I'm also on duty at lunch, and seeing a parent in one of my weekly 4 frees, and doing a cover. Ooph!

But dd has a disco after sch, so if i get my skates on, i can get home to collect her and the weekend starts early! Incentive! :D

I keep looking at my bank accounts, hoping that they will have miraculously changed and gone up or down according to my wishes. But they don't! How insensitive of them!

Brought in some home-made savoury bites with tom sauce to bulk out my lunch. They've been eaten already. as has most of the cheese. oh dear! have had to make a conscious choice to NOT eat the soup yet as I need to have something later!

Glad the chef's good to go! I have no idea what I'm cooking yet but think polenta might feature quite heavily as I'm still on the storecupboard challenge ... not sure I should break it and buy something in even in the course of true love. Hopefully the way to a man's heart will be through polenta (or failing that chick peas)!

Talking of food, did you survive without your soup until lunchtime?

Ha ha, yes Hbbb. I survived til lunchtime! It was probably good for my tum to have time to realise it was quite full. Finishing lunch by 11am would have been a psychological blow, but not a physical one.

I got to dd's school in time to pick her up, which was good. And, given that the mortgage and savings don't seem to want to change by themselves, I did a Tilly Tidy to force their hand!

Dh has had to go out, so I turned off the heating by 7.30. I was planning to sit and knit, like last night. But thought I should go through the 3 'craft' drawers as they were fit to burst. A little went to recyc, some will go to the charity shop, a lot went in the bin, and the rest is nice and neat. Very satisfying!

Tomorrow, I really must do a workout, having not done one since tues. Am going to visit a good friend for lunch, with dd, and Dh has said he'll make a curry for tea - yummy.
