If it was me, as my child was injured I would have insisted on an ambulance be called and the driver contact his deport to report the incident. This way the bus would have to stay where it was until the ambulance arrived and a replacement bus for the other passengers. This would mean they would have to look into how the accident happened with statements from all the passengers on the bus.

Whilst my son was injured, it was clear it wasn't worthy of an ambulance. Around here, if it's not life threatening, you can wait upwards of 2 hours for an ambulance, not something I want my son doing in the cold, thus why we decided to take him to the walk-in centre at the local hospital.

Get your story straight, exaggerate where possible, demand a meeting... Bingo! You get a week's travel pass for free!!!

    Nothing to be ashamed of!

Not really into the whole compensation culture thing. An apology would go down better than any free bus travel etc.

All the buses around here have signs saying something like "please remain seated until the bus has stopped".

Perhaps your husband missed them. ;)

good to see that people think a 3-yo child having a black eye and cuts is funny, wink wink.....

[STRIKE][/STRIKE]What has happened in this case is actually 'claim' worthy so I don't know why some people are being so sarky to OP as she's not oven going in that direction!
And I mean a claim worth thousands of pounds - someone my mum knows had a similar experience on a bus and she got thousands for it.
And before anyone starts, I'm not suggesting OP does this! :rotfl.
    ... Although she reasonably could...
    *Look for advice, not 'advise'*
    *Could/should/would HAVE please!*

Thousands, you say? Well in that case...

No, though, I'm most incensed that neither the driver at the time, nor anyone I've spoken to since, has just said sorry.

I'd just like an apology, and to know the driver won't be such a stupid idiot in future.

I've suffered no financial loss. If I was awarded thousands it'd rightfully be my son's and, quite frankly, he'd spend it on a couple of thousand pounds worth of chocolate, and I haven't the room in the fridge and cupboards for that ;)

I saw a driver texting while he was driving a bus. I could see him in the reflection on the door. I rang the bus company as soon as I got home and they said he would be 'dealt with'. Not sure what that meant. Just appalling!

You could put it away for him for the future...

I've actually seen a busdriver smoking a joint. Yes, on the bus, whilst driving.
Very nearly got run over once by a very fast-moving bus whose driver didn't bother to indicate.

  • Every day occurrence on central London buses.

When you are standing, you have to be wary of sudden stops.

Yes, I'm sure all the rest of the passengers on the bus would be delighted to stick around the extra half an hour (if not longer) for the next bus and make a statement backing you up.

I was just joking ;) I couldn't be bothered going down the compo route. I've talked to someone again today and still had no apology, and that's what irks me the most.
I'd be tempted to go for compo just to irritate them, but it's just not worth it really. Like I say, no financial loss so I'm not going to pursue them simply because I can, mainly because I hate the whole money grabbing compo culture.

I agree with you but it's the only language these companies understand. The child was injured because of unnecessary and poor driving, this is exactly the kind of case you SHOULD sue.

There is frivolous lawsuits for money and then their is your situation, it's pretty clear cut which of the lawsuits are frivolous most of the time.

I complained the other day about a driver shouting furiously at me, they took a report and all my details and said they'd be in touch. Guess what? Haven't heard a peep. If they injured me because of their poor driving i wouldn't do them any favours i'd hit them hard any way i could because i know they don't give two cr*ps about me or anyone else.

Hit them where it hurts, their greedy pockets.
