I have been trying to open A current account with Clydesdale. I applied through the phone banking. Later I have been asked to bring some form of Identifications which is actually ridiculous if I compare with other account that I have open so far:
- Three months salary slips
- Three months Banks Statements
- ID with photograph
- Utility bills

I have done that about two weeks ago bringing my ID to the branch.
I call back the phone banking did not receive it. So I come back again later to the branch last week to bring the same form of ID. I called today thy have not received it

Any time I call I am dealing with a bunch of idiots as they have no knowledge of their own products, I need to start from the beginning and sometimes they connect me to other number which after waiting 10-15 minutes nobody answer and get disconnected.

I need to inform their high ranking officials so they will aware what is actually going on.

Also is there any possibility I sue them fro wasting my time, I have been to the branches twice, I have been spending hours and hours over the phone. Also the keep all of my ID paper work ?

If you have the number, suggestion, it will be greatly appreciated.

Keep your complaint completely unemotional and purely factual. Make sure you have presented your case completely and convincingly.

Complain using their official complaints procedure before you complain to the CEO.

    Please don't double-post at MSE.

Is your aim now to get the account that you wanted or to pursue a complaint? I don't think you'll have much chance of achieving both - if you make the complaint you won't get the account, or if you've already opened it then they may well close it.

I have a suggestion - treat this as a blessing in disguise and go with a different bank. Better to cut your losses having spent hours trying to open an account than continue to spend a half hour on the phone everytime you have an issue or query.

I've got a First Direct account and have never heard the phone ring more than twice before an actual person answers - no music or automated voices.

If they make it so difficult to become a customer, what hope is there for their customer service afterwards?

This thread is about getting 4% interest on your current account, not 0%. So please leave those who wish to get this account alone with the old FD CS chestnut. We all know it, most of those who are after a 4% current account have had an FD Reg Saver for donkey years.

I've looked again and nowhere in the title or original post is the motive of the OP in applying for an account mentioned. This thread is about the problems encountered applying for an account with a bank that has turned out to be incompetent.

If you hang out here a bit, you know that adindas wants to open the account for the 4%.

Actually, anybody who knows a bit about CB/YB would probably only want to have any accounts with them for the interest offers they have from time to time.
  • You have made all this effort to try and join a fairly old fashioned bank.

    Save your time and effort......

Ok your getting 4% but they dont seem the most modern of banks, branches which have pretty short opening hours and other things which just make them feel rather behind the times.....

:)My identity check failed over the phone, had to call into local Yorkshire Bank Branch last Friday, produced Identification and account was opened at Branch, left with the package and phoned on Saturday to register for online access and now I wait for my online package to arrive and then I can apply for my security token. Made a Faster Payment into my account yesterday, no problems - are you sure that your account was opened over the phone.
