How many of the few dozen accounts you opened were with CB/YB? I suspect none. You cannot assume that because you can open an account with one bank, you can do so with another.
Yes, CB/YB seem to be very different to any other UK bank, but that does not make them unprofessional. If they were, they'd probably long gone out of business.
They are just different, and one of their main differences I encountered is that their CS speak a very strong Scottish accent. As I eluded to before, I think there's a very good chance that you and their CS can't actually fully understand each other. If I am right, you'd be a lot better off without a CB/YB account.
Well, what about misplacing my documents (or whatever) twice ...
What about unable to identify electronically while I could clearly see my name is on electoral roll on my credit file. Also other banks/BSs could. They did credit check when I made my application. ....
Yes I find it that I am better off without CB now. But after exhausting reasonable number of time and resources I will try to find out whether I could get something such as compensation. That is also what I am interested to know if people who knows about this could give some advice will be very much appreciated ...0 -
:)Why not give Nationwide FlexDirect a go, it pays 5% on £2,500 - check their terms and conditions - forum etc
Best of luck with the High Ranking Officials at Clydesdale or YB, hope you can put their house in order, maybe get rewarded for your time?:D0 -
Having moved from Metro Bank to Clydesdale I appreciate the account opening procedures are very different. Metro Bank = 45 mins, Clydesdale = 3 weeks. Having said that, does it really matter. My account is now fully working and I have telephoned their customer services a few times about transaction issues and been quite happy with their service.
I was verified electronically, had to send them payslips (which were returned within four days) and the signed switching and account opening forms. It all went pretty smoothly. The seven day switch happened in seven days as promised and payments to my old account are being bounced correctly to my new account.
Yes, the Scottish accents on the phone take a bit of getting used to. My best mate is Scottish and I have to listen very hard to what he says, lol. I'm sure it works the other way round too! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

I've got a First Direct account and have never heard the phone ring more than twice before an actual person answers - no music or automated voices.
I would totaly agree with you on the First Direct point, rang them last night and it rang for 3 rings and someone picked up. Then I rang Santander who I have a credit card with and spent at least ten minutes obeying a robot before I got to speak to someone!0 -

Big brother and all that.

There seems to be quite a bit of deleting going on at the moment. I have noticed whole threads disappearing (not the spam-type of threads).0 -
...Never phone 0845 or premium rate numbers, unless included in your phone package for free.
Also checkout http://www.saynoto0870.com/
0845 & 0870 numbers are included within your FREE calls as part of any BT calling package.
Even if you only have a cheaper BT calling plan that doesn't give free calls 24/7, then I'm sure 0845 numbers are cheaper to call than their respective geographic numbers.
According to the MSE UK call checker tool:
Daytime (weekdays):
0845 calls cost 2.04p/min compared to 7.95p/min for a geographic number
Evenings (weekdays):
0845 calls cost 0.51p/min compared to 1.05p/min for a geographic number
A 15p connection charge also applies to all such chargeable calls.
(I don't think 0870 numbers called from a BT line cost any more than their equivilent geographic number nowadays either
)
The usual caution applies.
i.e.
Charges for calls from other networks may vary and from mobiles will cost considerably more!0 -
:)Yorkshire Bank Internet Banking (24/7) is 0141 951 7315 without any calling plan the cost is 5p to connect +1p a minute (24/7) for Virgin Media customers with http://www.call18866.co.uk/faq.php unless anyone is aware of a Freephone number for Yorkshire Bank Internet Banking? When I last called the bill came to 10p less 3% cashback when they bill my Aqua credit card.0
