Well, the UK HQ of NAB is in Scotland. So not totally unexpected that members of the group have a scottish STD code.Yorkshire Bank has a Glasgow number???
)
There are also 0800 numbers for YB and CB. I have seen these mentioned at least 3 times over the last month on the MSE forum.0 -

You took my post far too seriously! I don't doubt that the HQ is in Scotland, but if I want to open an account with YB, I'll follow your suggestion made elsewhere and visit a branch.0 -
It wasn't me who suggested you should go into a branch to open a YB account. It would be highly impractical to suggest this to people who live (like myself) hundreds of miles from the nearest YB/CB branch.You took my post far too seriously! :)Getting the fundamentals right with our customers – by delivering fair value and quality advice;
Being a good employer – through investing in the skills and capabilities of our employees;
And addressing our broader responsibility to society – by supporting communities, managing our environmental impact and having a positive impact through our supply chain.
The key elements of our CR strategy are to improve business performance, build an open and honest culture and engage actively with stakeholders. We aim to achieve this by focusing on six key areas:
•governance and accountability;
•creating a great place to work;
•working with our supply chain;
•managing our environmental impacts – both direct and indirect;
•caring for our customers and providing them with products and services to meet their evolving needs and expectations;
•investing in the local communities in which we operate.
Our CR strategy builds on the solid foundation provided by our Enterprise Behaviours, Code of Conduct and Compliance Standards.
To deliver on our strategy we need to understand the direct and indirect impacts, both positive and negative, that are created by our operations, products and services. We also need to be able to identify business opportunities to meet the needs of our employees, customers and other stakeholders in the future.
With this in mind we are working to integrate environmental and social considerations into day-to-day business decision-making and operational practices. This will help build a customer-focused and ethical business where we openly engage in meaningful dialogue with our stakeholders and lead to better decisions and improved business performance.
We believe this will add value to our business by reducing risk, improving our operational efficiency, productivity, products and customer service, as well as creating a great place to work.
What more do you want from a Bank?
Yorkshire Bank pursues sponsorships that have;
•high visibility
•alignment with our brand values
•potential to integrate across marketing programmes
•no competitor co-sponsors / clear space for a flagship partner
•high affinity with and respect for the community
•potential to direct funds to grass roots needs
•relevance to geographic and target markets
•customer and employee involvement0 -
I don't know if CB plays the same message as YB when you call them, but what always makes me smile (after 30+ years with them) is the bit that says "when it's important, call a bank you can trust"....<snip>...
I've turned that statement round on them in several complaints over the years, and been well rewarded for doing so!

My apologies, I was mistaken. I was thinking of your post in the other thread, describing the hassle of opening an account on the phone, and read between the lines to conclude that a visit would be better. (for those within reach of a branch)0
