Actually, anybody who knows a bit about CB/YB would probably only want to have any accounts with them for the interest offers they have from time to time.
Yeah, but if people need to trawl through all of a posters prior posts in order to reply to a particular post, then posting here would become a full time job.
I posted based on a person having a problem opening an account and dealing with customer service. Therefore, my reply was very relevant.0 -
:)My identity check failed over the phone, had to call into local Yorkshire Bank Branch last Friday, produced Identification and account was opened at Branch, left with the package and phoned on Saturday to register for online access and now I wait for my online package to arrive and then I can apply for my security token. Made a Faster Payment into my account yesterday, no problems - are you sure that your account was opened over the phone.
I apply over the phone using the following number 0845 602 5450
This is what have been suggested from their website.

TBH, after experiencing this, I do not really mind if I do not get this account but I will try if I could win something. I have wasted a lot of my time unnecessary because of the broken on their system. Also to make the high ranking officials know what is going on the ground so they could fix it if they want to improve it.
- I brought my document twice to their branches. I need to leave early form work as they close it at 16.30.
- I spent a lot of hours over the phone.
- They cause some damage to my credit rating because of credit check
The fact that they cannot identify my ID electronically has shown that they do not do their job properly as they did credit check when I applied over the phone and I gave all of my details.
I am registered in the electoral Roll as I could see clearly from my credit file. Also I am a home owner registered on this address.0 -
I am afraid, this could well be a case of misunderstandings because it appears that you are not a native English speaker, adindas? Every time I have spoken to YB/CB on the phone, there was someone with a very heavy Scottish accent the other end. I could understand that you would find it extremely difficult to understand the accent if English isn't your mother tongue.
May be time to admit defeat.0 -
I'm going to go with '1 to 5' high ranking officials (Am I close?)

Interesting list of names and positions - though why would any of them appreciate a complaint from someone who hasn't previously exhausted the formal company complaints channels?0 -

I note your a serious MoneySaving Fan, it's always best to spend time on research before entering into any deals especially with Banks. It could well save you the run around and a few bob! At least you have helped pay towards the Clydesdale Bank customer support service and your phone company is in profit!
All is not lost - Why don't you make an appointment with an adviser at the Clydesdale/Yorkshire Bank Branch to open the Current Account Direct0 -

Do not jump into conclusion too quick. I have known that website since a few years ago.All is not lost - Why don't you make an appointment with an adviser at the Clydesdale/Yorkshire Bank Branch to open the Current Account Direct
I have open a few dozen of bank accounts over the phone and it is straight forward process without the need to go to the branch. If you have the option to either apply over the phone or go to the branch which one you choose.
But you will not know that you will get stucked with this kind of unprofessional people.0 -
How many of the few dozen accounts you opened were with CB/YB? I suspect none. You cannot assume that because you can open an account with one bank, you can do so with another.

How could I know that I will be dealing with this kind of unprofessional people.
Yes, CB/YB seem to be very different to any other UK bank, but that does not make them unprofessional. If they were, they'd probably long gone out of business.
They are just different, and one of their main differences I encountered is that their CS speak a very strong Scottish accent. As I eluded to before, I think there's a very good chance that you and their CS can't actually fully understand each other. If I am right, you'd be a lot better off without a CB/YB account.0
