I will join you if I may. My poor long suffering husband never complains that I have a whole room for wool, material, patterns, sewing machines and everything else. He never bats an eyelid when I just neeeeed to go to Abakhan 'just to have a look'. I need to get rid of some of it so that I can re-stash with a clear conscience.

My students at school know that I knit and sew and one year 10 student begged me to make him a scarf for his birthday - so I did. I now have requests for 5 more plus 2 reindeer hats. One scarf and the two hats need to be done before Christmas, but the other boys know that they need to wait. Who knew that 14/15 year old boys would be so pleased with handmade. :T So that is where my stash is going to go.

Of course you can and welcome - what a great way to use up stash :p

Can I join please, I have loved crafting all my life, two years ago I got the beginings of cataracts and found my sight going so couldn't see to make anything, but it didn't stop me buying stuff. I have now had 2 successful ops and can see perfectly, in fact better than I have ever done. So am all set to enjoy my hobby, trouble is I have so much stuff now that finding the bit want is proving difficult. I have made a good start and have crafted 300
bits for my DD for her school Peru project Christmas fair but I still have loads of stuff to use up.

    Loved your blog.

 Hi, I'm Kat and I'm a yarn-aholic (gosh, that was cleansing)!
The thing is, it's busting out all over and although I'm trying to clear it, my favorite yarn site keeps sending me sales mails and I think ... oooh, I could just do with that colour then I'll be able to ... etc. I have those zippy uppy linen storage things under the bed full of yarn, which OH is always moaning about (and, *voice drops to whisper* this is just the stuff he's aware of)! Please can I join you? I'm already making inroads by knitting and crocheting stash-busting hot water botty covers to go on new bottles for my mates for Xmas, but I've just received another sale-mail and need to focus myself (especially as I've already claimed today as a NSD and I've been really good about not buying any at all for the last 2 months)!
I know I need to do it (and very likely can do it) but I just don't know how what's under the bed (and the rest) can translate into a target. Any suggestions gratefully received and many thanks for having me!

Welcome habibiboo & meg72 - you are amongst friends and fellow sufferers :)

Do you both (and chiefposssion) have a target in mind so I can add it to the list?

Sorry I have been AWOL for a while. I have just finished organising my very first craft fair for my kids school. I had 36 stalls plus refreshments and a raffle. It has been exceptionally stressful and taken a lot of my time up over the past few months (which has meant no real time for crafting this past week & a bit) but I am pleased to say it went really well, looked amazing and raised a massive £600 for the school. I am feeling more than a little proud of myself even though that does sound a little vain.

Now it is out of the way I am re-commencing operation stash bust!!!! :)

    Hi Crafting Mad

Well done on the amount raised at the fair, that's brilliant and hopefully makes all the hard work seem worth it. I'm sure the school appreciates it!

I'm really not sure how my stash translates into a target - I could set a target number of items (say 200) but then if I offer to knit a sweater for someone, then that's a bigger knit which will make me seem like I'm not making the effort? Hmmm :(

So, I'm thinking maybe balls (as it were)? I won't need to count up how many I have as that'd take too long :o but I could just set a target of using up say 5 per month = 60 balls over the year? Does that sound sensible - then at least whether the items are big or small, the stash will start getting smaller. If you think that sounds sensible then please could you put me down for it? I'll then start from today as it's the 1st of the month! :T

Congratulations crafting mad - fantastic amount and you deserve a big big pat on the back for the craft fair. They do take some organisation

Habibiboo - not very good at knitting. Taken me two years to knit a scarf - finished it last week and started another. So your totals sound amazing to me and it's your challenge so it's what works for you :-)

Hi meg well done on crafting 300 things that's ace and welcome

I'm hoping to do 500 but once I do 500 I'm going to challenge again. Love this thread already. I didn't do any stats busting yesterday. Made a Christmas cake. A spotted d**k and 3 chocolate houses , and 2 corned beef pie. I know cooking can be a craft but not counting those lol . Although I did enjoy eating them :-)

Need to crack in with cards though. Want to post them soon

  • Hi everyone, can I join in? I love all things crafty and have a hoard of card making stuff that has been cluttering up my outside office for a few years, the office became a bit of a junk room and was filled to the rafters so I took it to task over a week ago and sorted it out so at least I can get in it now! Although it's cost me around. £350 in the process eek! As I noticed there was a leak in the boiler and we have now had no central heating for a week while it gets fixed.

So, crafting again is helping me recover from the shock of finding £350 just before Xmas (might be beans on toast for Xmas dinner for us) and I made 2 Xmas cards last night, I would post them up but I have no idea how

    Happy craft busting everyone!

Your OH sounds like mine are they related.
Its always "you never finish off what you started," i just like to have a few projects on the go, OH does'nt know how us craft peoples minds work.
On a similar theme my scrap quilt is now complete as regards the blocks being finished, just needs wadding and backing doing, quilting to be done on top. Job done. Been 7 months in all, so already planning the next master piece.
