phoneboxdirect working out when to send bills

Sorry Jackdoor; it's a very marginal one, but I reckon 22nd June is the 120th day so therefore the June bill is correct. I have found them very helpdful so would suggest a call confirmed by email from them!0

I suspect you've miscounted February - it is in fact 6 days, plus March, April and May = 6+31+30+31 = 98 up to and including 31st May. Therefore 120 days WOULD be the 22nd June. That makes it tricky on claim one; I have seen someone post that if it IS 120th day that the bill is dated then that should count and I tend to agree. Maybe another email to PBD setting out those figures and asking for written confirmation that the bill dated 22nd June is therefore correct would be worthwhile? If it IS and you send the July bill you'd lose the lot. At least if it's a month early you only lose £10, so if you can't get a satisfactory answer I would tend to err on the safe side personally and argue the point IF necessary later. Further, for subsequent months the qualifying date will move forward a little so then you'd end up sending one fo your claims only one month after the last one.0

ps if it's Vodafone I've noticed that although the bill is upposedly produced on the same date each month it CAN vary by a day or so! It would therefore be worth checking the actual date on the June bill if that's the one you decided to send!0

Anyway the reason I'm here, and was about to start a new post until I used the search function, is a very similar query to above. I was connected on 21 March, my bill date is 17th.
Can anyone out there give an educated answer (not an opinion thanks), perhaps someone who has had a similar billing situation or someone like Reesit Mutton who knows the industry?
If you go by the 120 day rule, you won't meet this criteria until 18 July if you include both connection date and date of bill, later if you don't.
If you go by the "connection for 4 months" rule, you won't meet this criteria until 21 July.
Therefore, by any measure of interpretation, a bill dated 17 July is too early - it has to be the August bill that you send. However, I'm more than happy for anyone else to challenge this logic.

The main thing is to send the claims at least recorded delivery; there are lots of people on here who seem to have had their claims go "missing" otherwise - and you don;t get a second chance under these t&c. One person on here recently reckoned they'd claimed his recorded delivery envelope was empty, but most of the other annoyed customers have basically NOT followed the t&c when they actually do say WHAT they did. I have no problem with connection day being counted; it would be really pushing the limits to start counting the hours! I have spoken with both Coolnewmobile and Phonebox Direct a few times now and have actually been generally impressed. It was a LONG time before I actually went with them and haven't YET reached my first claim on my first contract. However, all the fuss over their t&c isn't a difficult issue for me. E2Save and Onestop have stolen them word for word recently and caused a LOT of complaints as a result. I still buy from both organisations but after my first year with cpw sites I have to report their bad points now outweigh their good ones. I regret that since it used to be very much the other way round, but they rarely now offer anything like the deals on this (and its sister) site and since they're now using the SAME t&c (though there are some subtle differences in interpretation no-one has picked up yet) why stick with cpw? I would add that should things go sour I am prepared to go to court - though I hope that doesn't become necessary.
If you really have problems with Phonebox Direct, try looking very closely at the t&c for The Mobile Outlet, Mobile Rainbow or a few others. Actually sit down and work out HOW you would need to comply and the penalties should you get it wrong. Then take a look at the feedback on here for THOSE companies and you'll feel much happier with this one!0 -
ps
March 11, April 30, May 31 June 30 - total 102. So 120 days = 18th July. Therefore a bill dated 18th July should be ok IF it can be dated ON the 120th day, otherwise one dated 19th July MUST be ok. In fact I try to time my own purchases so the statement dates fall just right. When I originally stated 19th July I may have simply deducted 2 extra days from a four month period for the 31 days in March and May. Basically, the first thing to do once you have the phone is establish the date it was connected and draw up an accurate list of the earliest date any bill can be dated (as opposed to recived or "for") after each claim point.0 -
ps (again) surely it's clear that the company itself has DEFINED in its own t&c what a "month" is. Don't knock that - it's the basis for countless problems with other companies. Even E2Save caused massive and widespread confusion for many (must confess was into about my 5th or sixth contract before I realised that it ISN'T "month 4 or 6 - depending on which of the previous t&c you purchased under" as such, since month 1 was the month you purchased. Hence last day of a momth is month one and month 4 might be based on the third bill).0

Hi guys
Matrix is very helpful.. but I have a slight twist on this.....
G/f has got the Shine on Vodafone. Got first bill after approx 5 weeks so in 120 days after etc we will send in a claim via recorded or probably special (recorded only covers £28 if lost).
Anyway question is Vodafone bills did not show when she was connected (just has longer than one month for billing dates).
Should we be worried by this?
Alternatively should we enclose a copy of the "Welcome to Vodafone" letter which has the 23rd May at the top?

The bill ought to charge line rental for a defined period. The connection date can be inferred from this as the network
(a) can't legally charge you line rental for any period prior to connection
(b) will start the clock ticking from the day that you connected
i.e. the first day that they charge line rental for, by definition, will be your connection date.
NOTE: Even if your package has a period of free line rental offered by the network (as opposed to via cashback from the retailer), your bill should still itemise your line rental charging period...it would just be rated at zero cost.

mobilejunkie wrote: »Actually that's not QUITE accurate; it would be 19th July. It obviously depends on the number of days in a month - you COULD get caught out on the later claims and send in a bill one month late if you don;t work it all out!
I have spoken to PBD and they have said that it needs to show at least 120 days and can't be even 1 day under. This works out to be my august bill as my july bill is 2 days under  .
As i ported my number over to orange the girl said i need to prove my old number which i already knew, what i didn't know is you can use your dispatch note as proof if your first bill doesn't show the number that came with the phone. On orange it doesn't show the old number so i rang orange when i first got the phone and they sent me a letter out to confirm the which is accepted by pbd. I have been told i don't need to send 1st bill if i am sending the letter or dispatch note. The best things in life are for FREE!!!If you like what you see and find this info useful, please use the thanks button. It costs nothing and means so much.0
