Free Hot drink and cake every month @ John Lewis

I've had one of those before - you have to activate your voucher online beforehand, have your card swiped when you make your purchase and then the £5 voucher arrives in the post.
I don't think the card would be swiped when making a return so your cunning plan should work.
So you've got to make two trips unless you can make a £50 purchase online, wait for the voucher in the post and then take the product back when you go for your coffee? Two trips into store wouldn't be worth it for me as the parking is £2.50 per hour.0 -
perhaps they are rewarding poor people who don't spend much on their store, that might explain some of the anomalies here.
a kind of robin hood thing. good thing john lewis.:eek: well they certainly are robin someone with their prices.0 -

No vouchers for me yet, bought fridge last year and couple of little things in sale after xmas all online.
But OH who has not bought anything since 2010 got 4 coffee and cake vouchers. Needless to say I have intercepted them.0 -
I too am not going to use my card if I buy in store and see what that gets me mid year - hopefully it will bring me more than the one voucher I've received this time!
I don't buy much from John Lewis but have made a few purchases in the January sale - nothing more than £20 though so hardly a big spender!
My own theory (and I'm sure others will be able to report back based on what they received last time) is that possibly those that had the usual quantity of vouchers last time are only receiving the one this time and vice versa.
I know some people only received a money off voucher at Christmas so maybe there is some sort of rota to it?
I don't believe it's completely random as they go out in batches; seems to be that the first lot of vouchers that go out get all the vouchers next lot slightly less vouchers and the last lot one voucher only.0
