Totally agree with Locky, it is daft! Many of us are so busy with Christmas preparations we dont have time to drive to a JL and stop for tea and cake. The vouchers are usually valid for 4 weeks or so. Why did JL have to send them out so late, we only had a week to use it!0

I had up until the 31st December on mine so maybe it is particular stores, I went today and the store was mad busy I was stood for ages in a queue (not JL's fault as all the tills were manned) and didn't have time to sit and have it so managed to get it to go.0 -
Both of us got 1 for December expiring 22nd and one for January + £5 off voucher each. I have spent £700+ this year and husband nothing. We went into Exeter on Wednesday and didn't bother, the queue was 30 deep.0

What's 'daft' about it?! They are designed to get you in before Christmas to spend! They're not a charity are they, let's face it!
I'm quibbling the fact that we got the vouchers on Mon 12th and have only got eight days to use them. Why not send them out earlier? I've got two young children and we've got lots planned up to Christmas.0 -
I've got my vouchers yesterday evening so that's only 4 days to use the voucher. I have another for the restaurant there for hot drink and dessert.
I've tweeted then and they said to email them about the 4 day use. I could use it this evening as I'm in the area but that's not the point aa some people may not have been.
I was hoping for voucher for the free tote bag like last yearMortgage free wannabe

Usual story - vouchers received for the only two people registered at this address who never spend anything at John Lewis.
The two of us who do buy from John Lewis received no vouchers at all.
That approach doubtless makes sense to the aggressively hard headed business managers at John Lewis (why offer further incentives to people who already buy from you?) but it may not be as simple as that.
If it hacks off good customers who see this going on (as it does me) so much that they decide to shop elsewhere, then it will backfire on them. I've already reached the conclusion that you just can't trust John Lewis these days, and this is yet another example of that.
The Never Knowingly Undersold policy is a downright lie, the promises they made (and still make) about these vouchers is another lie, and frankly I now disbelieve pretty much everything they say. Sad, really, from a company that used to be absolutely trustworthy.0 -

To be fair we have four cards in our house, I am the main buyer and as usual I have spent a lot this year on wallpaper an iPhone and other large purchases, DH has spent nothing and both DDs have spent small amounts mainly on fashion items. We all got the vouchers and only I got the invitations to their evening events (not that I went to any). I did have another card but when I changed my email address I stopped getting stuff so I cancelled that card and opened a new one and then stuff started coming again. I think there may be a problem in their system as to why I didn't get them. DocN why don't you try getting a different card and setting up a new account to see if that helps?
John Lewis' customer service over the past couple of months has been hit and miss I've had to chase refunds over items returned via the post and this has taken a few calls on both returns to get things sorted, however last week I phoned the call centre to get the dimensions of a plate I saw on-line, the person I spoke to was very helpful and sent a message to my local store who called me back with the sizing and reserved it for me, they were excellent and certainly redeemed themselves.0 -
Icompalined to them about the short date and got this reply.
I am sorry to learn of the short period of time you have to use your reward voucher, please be rest assured that I have arranged for a replacement rewards pack to be sent to you and this will arrive in the next 28 days. I again apologise for any inconvenience or disappointment this may cause.Mortgage free wannabe

That's good.
If it is any help to those who got short dates DH was working in Liverpool city centre today and went to get his, the queue for the cafe was out of the door and staff members were directing people to empty tables, it was manic, he didn't bother even trying to get it.0 -
At the end of the day, this is a freebie, so I'm really not sure why people are complaining about short dates and queues.
The free hot drink and cake coupon is a *privilege*, not an entitlement, so if either of these things are inconvenient, you don't have to redeem your voucher.
This probably won't be a popular reply, but it just seems bizarre to me that people are rather looking this gift horse in the mouth!0
