    Hi nikolacarter,

Shampoo and conditioner are allowed only if they are in containers that holds 100ml or less. Pills are fine, it's only 'liquids' that are banned.

Actually thinking about the empty bottle thing, it is a bit mad. I has a 500ml empty water bottle confiscated of me recently, but they picked up and returned to my bag 2 extra large jars of Asda Gold coffee, (which is lovely by the way). I don't understand the difference between a large watertight jar that would hold easily over 1 litre of liquids, and an smaller empty plastic bottle. Or am I missing something:cool:

This was my argument. Define what is meant by the word "container" . As I asked above does it include plastic bags? most of them are over 100ml, are capable of holding liquids, and I bet some people would have a few empty ones in their hand luggage.

If in doubt, put the items you've mentioned into your hold luggage... there are no restrictions as to what liquids you can take in your hold luggage.

I've got a question of my own... I know you can take milk/water/food through security if it is for a baby - but can I take through a small bottle of orange drink for my 3 year old daughter?

Only if it is less than 100 ml, I am afraid

If you are doing a 2 part flight and have to go through security twice ( and you do everywhere these days) don't buy "duty free" drinks because some airports will take them off you even if clearly sealed in airport issue bags. It hasn't happened to me because I don't buy this kind of thing in airports but I have seen it happen in Frankfurt to people transferring from Istanbul en route to Manchester.

As a point of note at Gatwick last Thursday the no containers rule was being strictly enforced. People were being stopped tryig to carry any water through. However like someone already mentioned on this thread, for the price of a Daily telegraph you can get a free bottle of Vittel water in WH Smith once you are past security.

  • jonnyjackoff. You missed... Not allowed - Explosives, even if fully or partly labelled.

Does this mean you can take unlabelled explosives?

Problem is that some people try and interpret rules and twist them to what they want them to mean.
Just can't believe some of the misinterpretations - scary!

Hope i'm not on the same plane. I'm gonna get worried if i find myself sitting next to anyone with a dog that hasn't got 3 legs!
