I know this is getting a bit silly, but containers over 100ml are not allowed.
It clearly states, not allowed, containers over 100ml, even if partialy full.
That means: Containers over 100ml are not allowed, if full, empty, or partially full.
I have been told by two security officers in the last two weeks, that empty containers are not allowed. My friend works in an airport, and has been told to inform all passengers that empty containers over 100ml are not allowed. The security rules state that containers over 100ml are not allowed, (even if partially full). I think we have to accept, that empty containers over 100ml are not allowed.
But if you want to take them, by all means try, you will probably escape a jail term, and the worst that will probably happen is they will put it in the bin.

Ok what if i took a 1l bottle but cut it in half, and then used my roll of duck tape to put it back together.0

is there anywhere we can buy empty 100ml bottles or containers cheaply so that we can fill it up etc etc??
ive got a trip coming up that involves 2 flights and because i cant thru-checkin for it, i need to clear immigration, check-in for the next flight and go through the security again between the flights - which means i'll need to buy ANOTHER bottle of water if i want to drink :S0 -
I read the wording from the pdf the same way as trisontana does.
If we're still having the conversation about whether empty is allowed or not, then it blatantly isn't as clear as it should be.
Especially if airport security don't abide by it either.Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

If it just said no 'containers over 100ml' and you took it literally (and you should for security rules, law etc) there would be no doubt in most peoples minds. The problem is that people try an use their initiative and misinterpret things. To me it needs no further clarification but the people who try and think more into it may query - "no containers over 100ml even if there is less than 100ml in it?" This is the reason for the further clarification to stop people misinterpreting the rule by thinking that they could take a banned container just because it was between empty and 100ml full! The rule is blatently clear if you take the statement literally and it's only the further unecessary clarification that has added to your misinterpretation.
Ive started to get supicious now. Are the people questioning this stupid or just playing me up?Cash ISA rate 6.5% fixed for 2 years. Mortgage rate 0.75% = 5.75% profit on £75K = £4500 per year:j

No we are not stupid (how dare you), and we are not winding you up. Some of us just read that document a different way. You may not be correct you know. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -
It is all a bit unclear I suppose.
By changing some words, it makes a bit more sense.
It says -
Not allowed - containers over 100ml - even if partially full.
By changing some words, just for a laugh really.
How about this.
Not Allowed - Dogs over 12inches - even if they have three legs.
It is clear that this means dogs over 12 inches are not allowed, whether they have 1, 2, 3, 4 or no legs - dogs over 12 inches are not allowed.
Or maybe
Not allowed - Backpacks over 1ft - even if partially full.
I am sure everone would agree that the above statement clearly indicates that backpacks over 1ft are not allowed - whether full, empty or half full. It's clear, backpacks over 1ft are not allowed.
Not allowed - full or partialy full containers over 100ml.
Above maybe a better way of wording it, if indeed they are allowing empty containers. But that is not how it is worded. It doesn't say liquids in quantites over 100ml are not allowed. It implies containers over 100ml are not allowed- whether full or not.
I personally think it should read:
Not allowed - containers over 100ml - even if not full.
I have just changed one word, now no-one can iterpret that incorrectly surely.
Actually, I am finding it difficult to believe that people can read it any other way as it is, and I don't mean to be rude by this, but it clearly says they are not allowed.
I obviously have nothing better to do, and am not taking this too seriously - HONESTLY :rotfl: :rolleyes:0 -

Note the million dollar comma
Containers over 100ml, even if partially full.
This means no containers over 100ml no matter how much is in them.
This is still a farce as you could buy a big bottle once airside and still decant from multiple 100ml containers, but those are the current [strike]restrictions on civil liberties[/strike] rules.I have a cunning plan!
Proud to be dealing with my debts.0
